Dan is not the only person disagreeing with Tom Brady. But Tom is not just some old guy who played the game once upon a time. Two years ago, he was still playing. He lived the past he lived the modern era. He played in arguably three errors of football. he started at the tail end of the Troy Aikman phase when defenses got away with just about any hit they wanted, to a little bit more protection, all the way to the modern era. He has seen it all, experienced it all.
In earlier eras, you had exceptional rookies. Dan Marino came out of the gate as a rookie and played awesome. Steve Young took a while to get his shot. Guys have always existed who could come out their rookie year and do something. But those are rarities.
People look at CJ Stroud and make the false conclusion that if CJ Stroud can do it, anybody else can do it. Josh Allen represents reality. he’s a great quarterback now, easily top five, but it took him a few years to get there.
I saw Jordan love Start when Aaron Rodgers had Covid. He looked awful. he finished last year’s season looking like a top 10 quarterback. Development takes time. these armchair sports talk guys who have never played the game at a serious level. Need to stop with their silly conclusions.

It will be interesting to see how he adjust to being more open. When you don't say much it's easy to avoid being disliked. When your job is talk it's a whole different ball game.

DP admits that NFL coaches use a more college-style offense to benefit rookie QB's, but he disagrees that rookie QB's need more development to play an NFL-style offense. U simpin like that? How about the fact that Brady was, what, 2nd to last picked in his draft class, overall, AND the dead last QB picked AND he had to sit behind the #1 draft pick in his own class, Drew Bledsoe, and learn before he got his turn due to a bad injury.
Brady watchex, learned, and improved which lead to his ridiculous 7 rings. His journey should be the reason wby he should be listened to, not just the rings. Comparatively, Robert Horry got 7 rings in the NBA, if i remember correctly, but just focusing on rings in his situation when he was JUST a role playe, alho he hit big shots late in games during Finals/playoffs which helped get his rings would be goofy. His journey is unremarkable and not worth talking about...yet he has 7 rings just like Brady. Ha.

It’s subjective. If the QB is ready like Luck, Tannehill, Wilson, Carr, Burrow, and Herbert, start him. If they’re flawed at first but have special qualities, rest them the way KC & Green Bay rested Mahomes and Love respectively.
The hypocrisy of NFL Teams is that they play rookies possibly too soon while failing to realize that many of these players didn’t play much or were redshirted as college freshmen. If the latter can happen in college, the former can be reduced in the NFL.

Disagree with Dan. College is definitely preparing QBs for the pros but the speed of the game is vastly different and the schemes are much more complex. So yes rookie qbs have the offense dumbed down

I agree and understand what Tom is saying, or atleast trying to say. Just cause u run around n make some plays doesn't mean yur ready. They struggle to read defenses n make proper checks at the line. The anticipatory throws are non-existant for the running QB. They run so much in college that the QB doesn't truly learn to play the position from the pocket.

Dan Patrick literally said that the NFL now is different than it used to be and then started talking about players playing games in college and all that. Tom was talking about NFL games not college if you get drafted. Then u obviously played games...his point is that coaches have to dumb things down in order to have them "ready" to play fast vs in the passed where ud sit for a year or two behind a good qb then u go in. • @creativereality4212

Two opposite things can be true at the same time. For example, you can state that you think quarterbacks are better prepared coming out of college today than they were 20 years ago.
At the same time, they are playing with college players. These quarterbacks are in for a rude awakening when they face pro defenses.
Take a look at the landscape. Mac Jones national championship at Alabama. New England Patriots couldn’t give him away last year. They probably had to give draft picks to the team taking Mac Jones
Baker Mayfield, Matthew Stafford, and Jared Goff are all number one picks who are playing for a different team than the team who drafted them. Both Baker and Jared had perhaps their best season in the NFL last year and Stafford finally won a Super Bowl. Wow, it looks like this is proving Tom Brady correct. College quarterbacks come out as unfinished products and they need to be developed.

Mahomes & Rodgers got to sit but just look at the QB-class from 2021, only Trevor Lawrence is still with the team that drafted them. It took Geno Smith how many years before it all clicked for him &maybe Wentz would still be a starter if he could've watched a veteran for a season. The style of play part is the biggest part of it college is influencing the NFL &that wasn't the case when Brady came up. Also organizations want to figure out asap if guys can play or not so I'd say it has more to do with the league changing &front offices being impatient

First round picks only mean that was the best that draft year, it doesn’t mean that they are the best overall. This playing a #1 draft pick because the team leadership drove their situation to not having a QB that can carry the team until the new draft pick time to learn. Dumb down means the don’t give them the entire play book.

Tom is flat out wrong here because it’s all situational like it’s always been in the NFL. Tom would’ve been a bust if he had to play year 1 at a bad franchise but he was lucky to be a backup for years to learn and walk into a championship ready team.
It’s all situational and his main gripe should be with the system.
Compare Brock Purdy and first round QB
Purdy was not talented enough to start year 1 and was lucky enough to sit behind 2-3 QBs and learn and it ended with him nearly leading the 9ers to win a SB for the first time in 30 years
A first round QB pick is touted to be talented enough to take an underperforming franchise to win more games and make them competitive and most fail and less succeed.
It’s always been like that. He is wrong to label it as “Today’s NFL”
