Great video. I have a Kawasaki 550 jetski .Can I use your method of flipping the engine upside down, removing the bottom case to change the crank seals on a kawasaki 550 engine? Your method is a great time saver considering your not removing the cylinder head, cylinder case, etc to do the job. Oops, my bad. You mentioned in the video this method can be used on Kawi 550's as well. Also, the sealant you are using; is it as good or better than Yamabond? Thanks. George.
yes you can do it on 550, I like 1211 a little better its less runny
Could you do a full engine rebuild video for a 750 engine? There are none on CZcams for us noobs
No problem we'll do one of those in the future, the only difference as far as the crank seals on 750/800 is to take off the flywheel you just need to remove the bolt and use puller bolt they sell online. Or a autozone spark plug thread chaser tool with anti seize on it
What’s the trick to separating the seals from the bottom of the crank when trying to take it apart? I have a 94 750 and the seals are holding it together.
If the seals wont pull up you can stick a flat blade in-between them when the case is separated and gently pry them out. Make sure to check the groove in the case. Sometimes doing that can leave a little rubber reside there
Why split the case when you can use coarse threaded drywall screws to pull the seals?
Well for one you're saving only 15 seconds to doing that instead of pulling the bolts, and doing that leaves material in the seam and youll never get a complete seal pushing them in.
You use a metal brush for cleaning it? It won’t ruin it?
I use a brass brush on an impact just don't let it dig and go light, otherwise a brillo pad works good if you're doing it by hand
