Hello Do you have to use a container like that? I have rooted a bunch of different types of plants /trees just using rooting powder and sticking it down in good soil in a pot. I am by far absolutely no expert I'm just wondering. I got some cuttings of a Japanese Maple today from a friend. I also have volunteers coming up all over the place from a large Maple. I don't know if it's a Japanese Maple it's a bigger red leaf but not a huge maple leaf like what grows in our woods in VA. Was wondering how big the volunteers have to get before digging them up.
You don;t have to use a container like this, but it simulates a greenhouse environment and means you have to mist it less often and results will likely be higher.
@@JonnyMaple Sounds good thank you very much! I was figuring that So I bought everything I needed yesterday. I hope this is a hobby that I'm going to keep up with! Excited! I'm really looking forward to what these volunteers/seedlings are going to do. The video you did about each being slightly different Is very interesting. I really appreciate you taking the time out to respond. Look forward to watching more of your videos.

I have used a Midas Hydro rooting gel in the past, and this year I am trying Clonex rooting gel.
Thanks. What cultivar is that?
Acer palmatum "Orangeola' is the variety show in most of the video and is the variety of the cutting with roots. This variety reliably roots from semi-ripe cuttings taken in the mid summer and treated in the manner indicated in the video.
