  • After taking delivery of my Tesla Model X I noticed that the falcon wing door failed to close from 1 press and it started to squick and rattle. Driving the car for over a year now there is a loud clicking noise coming from my driver side rear wheel probable from the half shaft / axel

Last weekend, Tesla let me test drive a Model X for the weekend. The driver side falcon door did the same thing. It would not close until I sat in the car and hit the button a second time from the display menu. Also a squeaking noise in the back over every bump. When I brought the X back Monday morning, they said if this happened to my new Model X, they would get it fixed with no problems. I'm having second thoughts about placing an order after seeing this review. Sucks because I LOVED the car, but those issues would drive me crazy.

They told me the same but they could never fix it unfortunately but once you paying music you don’t hear it. During no music drives that is when it gets annoying

Ask them about the tire warranty! My 2023 model X started vibrating hard so I took it to Tesla service. Found out the foam in my new 2023 Pirelli tire is separating inside the wheel. Well, a replacement cost me out of pocket and I was told to take it up with the company (Pirelli). Don't trust me. Go verify. Oh and I asked a tech about the regenerative braking seeming not to slow the car as it once did. Was told Tesla took away the ability to select the regenerative braking strength (motor brakes). WTH. Now I find myself using the brakes more often. I guess I'll be replacing brake pads at some point. When its working, its a great vehicle but man I wish the Q/C was better. Mine has been serviced 5 times and its a 2023. On a positive note, its still not a costly as my Range or M BMW service. I want Tesla to be great. They really need to do better. Side note...Great video. Too bad you couldn't take the EV with you during the 5 months. Would've been nice to see how it faired.

I want this car so bad and would order now but as you stated QC is not great and this is backed up by every Model X CZcamsr, owner etc. I've seen or talked to. I've had multiple Model S and 3s since 2016 with really no probs. Super head scratching regarding the X. I even test drove recently and the X they gave me was not fit to be shown. This resulted in them pulling it off the lot and sending to service. But nobody(factory, service, sales, detailer etc) at any point caught these glaring issues(like back seat literally falling apart) and are relying on the potential customer who's test driving the car to discover?! Anyhow, I hope they figure it out and if I see improvements by end of year may pull the trigger.

For the regenerative braking, if it’s charged to 100%, the first 10% or so will not brake as hard as once you’re at 90%. I definitely noticed that. I read the reasoning somewhere but that does happen. I had a bit of interior stuff that needed to be resolved but pretty good now for the most part

What type of pirelli tires do you have? I have yet to find any with foam.

Just wait until one of your inverters fails and blows the pyro fuse. Your car will lose all power where ever you happen to be and will coast to a stop. In about 15 mins after you pull over, all power will be lost to the car, so everything will go dark, including the hazard flashers. Google "Tesla inverter failure -solar" to confirm what I am saying. You have to put "-solar" because it happens so often to Tesla solar systems too! It happened to my 2023 Model X, and I sold it immediately after it took Tesla almost a month to repair. Tow truck drive said he sees this failure all the time, and diagnosed it immediately based just on me describing the symptoms. He was 100% spot on. Sold it because that is incredibly dangerous and my family's lives and my life is far too important than the depreciation I lost selling in less than a year with less than 5K miles. It's a bad design that causes the entire HV power to be disconnected when just one inverter shorts out. Shouldn't be that way. The car should just isolate the one bad inverter and keep going, but they saved a few pennies. Their cost cutting is getting very dangerous.

Do you still recommend Model X over Model Y?

Tesla owner since 2018. I feel your pain - many issues myself. I wonder if Rivian owners are having similar service/quality issues? The Rivian R1S looks pretty tempting right now

Thankfully the model 3 and Y still has good build quality after 2022. The X is just very complicated car

100% yes especially with the price of today get it but look for existing inventory and also use someone’s referral for best price

Tax credit(s) won't apply if you and/or spouse make more than $300K. Hard to afford Model X if you have another car, house, kids, college & retirement savings, etc. The tax credits should be a benefit for every family that makes efforts towards improving the environment and not the amount of money you make.

Take always a video with your phone, so you documents the problem for them. It can’t be that they not get it fixed.
I wish you luck. I will also get a X in the next weeks. I hope I don’t get the same issues.

I’ve shown videos to them they believe me but the falcon wing door is complicated. You will love the model X for sure. I recommend looking at existing tesla inventory and using referral link for the best price
