The first time the DP51 came out of the market, I was one of the early buyers. I have been shooting it and have used up probably more than 500 rounds to say the least. I have no issues with regards to accuracy and the grouping is just fine. For a finely made pistol for use by the South Korean armed forces, I don't think that Daewoo will fail in manufacturing a barrel for that matter. I have sold several of my pistols that didn't meet expectations, but the DP51 remains with me up to this time and for keeps because of its amazing fast action feature. God (Yah) bless!
Well as long as it wasn't brought to be a pin shooter. Your buddy has a real peace of history. Its kinda inaccurate but we know that going in you said. And it functions with out a doubt. And that fast action trigger is great. I could go for that myself. Good review Doc. And God Bless
fast action is very sweet. this semiauto pistol seems well suited to a revolver guy like me. it’s too bad that s&w and daewoo didn’t partner to produce a fast action pistol with a better barrel. nice video, thanks.
It was my pleasure and I just uploaded the upgrade version of this pistol Lionheart LH9. Take a look and see what you think. czcams.com/video/2epylr0eh0A/video.html
Nice video and review! I know you wanted this gun to be more accurate, but there’s always CZ, Beretta, S & W or SIG’s! I’d love for you to test a Seneca Dragon Claw 50 caliber air rifle. They’re made in So. Korea and legal in VA for deer! And they can shoot an arrow at 400 FPS out to 50 yards with deadly accuracy🎯.
My 1996 DP51c groups about as well as any 9mm service pistol, at 10 yards. Better than many. At 25 yards, I feel like a lot of factors come into play with group size; namely, ammunition, sights, grip, shooter, etc., etc.. Poor rifling is probably pretty far down on that list. Personally, I think the claim about the barrels not being rifled correctly is largely unfounded. Maybe it's a stubborn holdover from the K5's early development (kinda like the broken slides with the Beretta 92)? But I think Daewoo/S&T Motiv used/uses Colt machinery to produce K5 barrels... so, I'm thinkin' they can put grooves in a barrel, just fine. Plus, Lionheart has continued to import K5 pistols up until the past few years; if they weren't accurate, they wouldn't sell. They are. And they do (did).
Good overview, I really want to add one to the collection and am eyeballing Gunbroker constantly. They seem to go for around 500-700 nowadays... should've jumped on one years ago but oh well. How does fast action feel exactly? Can you pull through it in one long smooth motion like on a revolver or typical DA pistol like a 92 or P226, or, can you feel it sort of "shift"/"ka-chunk" into fast action? All videos make it seem like it's the latter, but I dunno if they're just doing this trying to demonstrate fast action. Edit: 2:04 actually looks like it can be pulled as smooth as normal DA (no discernable "shift"), nice, thank you
@@vameathunter2771 Thanks man, I watched your LH9 vid as well and the fast action looks like how I hoped it'd be. And I lol'd at 7:15, I thought you were aiming for the 4 targets around the center, thanks for telling the truth 😂 Do you know if the accuracy issue was EVER fixed? I want to believe only early production guns had bad accuracy until Daewoo fixed it in later runs, but that's just me hoping. There are some who say they owned accurate DP51s, but these dudes might just be shooting at 5 yds tops... or, they might truthfully have ones that can legit hold a decent group at 25 yds. They were imported for quite a while, so Daewoo had to have improved their barrel-making tech at some point, maybe mid way, or at the tail end...? I hope. Any thoughts?
@@lon242 Since it's all used guns, maybe I had the barrel abused one. But most recent upgraded version is Lionheart Regulus (practically same as DP51 but much better) and I heard some good things about it.
I qualified twice a year for twenty years with mine. Try different ammo. 147 grain works good for me. If different ammo weights don't help get a aftermarket barrel.
I don't use it as a target pistol. While it is accurate when taking aimed shots off the bench, I carry it for defense. With the fast action and lots of practice using the "G-Sight Laser Bullet System" I can draw and shoot naturally from the hip accurately double tapping 2 targets center mass in under 2 seconds. With my CZ PO7 not quite as fast. The G Sight System is awesome. No ammo required and its is a ton of fun to try and beat yourself and your friends.

Nice video. I actually used my 1996 Daewoo DP51 in a production class competition. Accuracy was more than acceptable out of the box.
Thanks bro, sounds like you have a keeper. Merry Christmas n God bless.

Mine works great. Its in bed with me. I got a 20 round magazine. I qualified twice a year for decades. Never failed to qualify so it can't be bad.
Thanks, Doc!
My pleasure.

Sometimes a pistol can be reliable but poor accurately. They can be best used as a defense pistol at around 10 yards.
You got that right, God bless.

Thanks bro, it's actually easier than revolver DA. I love the action but accuracy was not impressive. Best of luck bro.

Yep! it was online and it was about $420.
is the PULL resistance constant in 3rd ?
Yup!
