    @robertgelblum5154 Před 11 měsíci +1

    As always, that was both entertaining and instructive. I counted 13 games that John played in the tournament, and there was definitely a lot of fun action. I guess 3 + 0 online chess can be played intelligently and well if you are a strong and experienced blitz player like John. But for many of us (including myself) it can be a blunder fest. I found that K + P ending against Zaplya (?) to be fascinating and rather mind-boggling. The analysis of that ending afterwards (including brilliant moves like ...f5!) reminds me how difficult K + P endings can be, and how much I still have to learn to understand their full complexity.
    Some suggestions/requests for openings John might consider playing in future videos: for White: 1. b3, 1. g3, 1. f4, 1. Nc3, 1. e3; for Black: Pirc, Modern, Caro-Kann, French, Alekhine, ...b6 lines; and Dutch, Benoni, Chigorin, Albin counter gambit.

    26:00 regarding opening suggestions I remember early in the channel you played a lot of sharp semi-slavs. I don't know much about the opening but those games were always interesting.

    • @JohnBartholomewChess
      @JohnBartholomewChess  Před 11 měsíci +1

      That is correct, I used to play Semi-Slav more often. Haven't explored the nuances for awhile and therefore kinda stopped because of the complexity of lines like 5.Bg5, but I should pick it up again!

    8:25 Am I missing something or can you play Qxc4 winning a piece after exf5 Qh4 forking the knight back. That should be a piece for a pawn with no obvious downside

    • @JohnBartholomewChess
      @JohnBartholomewChess  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Didn't consider it in the game, and it looks good. White might be able to mitigate the damage with 7...Qxc4 8.d3 and Ng5-f3 if the queen eventually goes to d4, but probably Black wins a clean pawn at least.
