Wow! High Praise. You just swept away half of my favourite bottles! I love Tamdhu, Glendronach, A'Bunadh. Now, I have not had this yet, and certainly love their regular releases, like the 12 year old. I guess I'll need to find the cash to bring this home. Enjoy the holidays, cheers!

The only GlenAllachie I currently have is the 10 year old Rye Wood Finished, at 48% and about 90 USD it is absolutely wonderful.
Wishing you a merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year..!!!

Oh how I wish I could join the bottle sharing in Idaho!! LOL. This state has ZERO Glenallachie offerings. I hope to find a bottle next month when I go south for a couple of weeks. Thank you for the review Jason and have a great Christmas.

Batch 6 has not made it to Bulgaria yet. Batch 5 arrived maybe 10 days ago. As per the importer 48 bottles have been allocated to Bulgaria and I immediately bought 2 of them. Paid roughly 47-48 euros per bottle. Funnily enough unknown number of batch 3 miniatures also have made it to Bulgaria with the last import, so I also bought two of them at ~4.50 euros. Thus I can taste it whithout opening my only full-size bottle of it for the time being. What I really like about the Gleanallachie expressions released under Billy Walker is that although "severely" sherried they are still not your typical, one-dimensional sherry bombs, completely bulldozed by the wet ex-sherry casks. The tropical fruits from the distillery charracter are still able to shine through. Also, the virgin oak adds very interesting notes to the profile.
As for the theory about how Billy Walker milks his distilleries dry and then sells them, IMHO it is not completely unfounded but after all he is the one who calls the shots. We can be only grateful for having access to his great product or just not buy it.
    Cheers and Merry, Malty Christmas!

Well I hope the Batch 6 I have is as good as the one had here. GlennAllachie has saturated some of the bigger stores in my area. I think Jason is onto something with Billy Walker emptying out the warehouses. selling more than he is putting down.

Interesting comparison - my first experience of this whisky is wrapped under the Christmas tree as we speak - batch 6.

so, Billy Walker is a vampire of some sort. It does make a lot of sense (no sarcasm).

that is too harsh - he is a short term business person in a long term whisky business

I have an opened and unopened bottle of the Batch 2 here and it's good, but not as good as the 12 yo I've managed to put my hands on. It's also very light colored. Without water, it's a bit overwhelming IMO.

Each batch got much darker and better in my opinion

    I tried batch #2, 3, 5 & 6 blind and put #5 as the winner, #6 on second place, then #3. Not much difference between #5 & #6 though
