Looks like a lovely Café Racer to me. Granted certain parts are non-standard but that is likely down to the non-availability of parts such as tinware, mudguards etc. Better a handsome, running machine than a pile of bits in a box - non-standard or not.

According to DVLC at 7/6/20 it has road tax and was registered in 1960 as a 500cc bike

many years ago I read chrome plating leading to cracking, true or not I don't know, the mass produced Rickman Meteese frames were Nickel plated and seems to be ok. Triple plating consisted a copper plate 1st step, 2nd step nickel plating and finally Chrome plate.

Good job, you have a nice steady tickover. Wonder though, the front brake needs serious attention. The timing chest cover, is that from an Atlas, they were the ones with the vertical cable to the rev counter. Had an Atlas for 20 years.

If you were in traffic and stalled it ,you wouldn't dismount and put it on the centre stand to restart it ,so stop putting undue pressure on the frame tubes leading to cracking ,same goes with people doing same with prop stand down.

Very choice ride indeed, and looks just like mine. Well, mine's also sort of "silvery" anyhow. Truth is, my '67 Model N15CS "Desert Sled" with its curvy ape-hanger-like bars, oil lines salvaged from a broken Lady Kenmore washing machine (¿Mas Macho, No?) and an old Mexican hard leather purse slung over the battery box as a tool bag, looks like this one's slack-jawed trailer park dwelling kissing cousin (that's "object of incestuous desire residing in a caravan park" to you blokes in that sceptered isle), but then my cheapo stubby mufflers (that's "silencers" to you geezers) make my 750 sound a lot "snortier." So there. Though I'll bet his neighbors (I mean, of course, "neighbours") are a lot happier when he takes his Norton out for an early morning spin.
