  • I recently made my first visit to the Bluebell Railway in nearly 7 years. I had originally planned to spend the day with recently-relaunched SR Battle of Britain 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair but when I arrived I found that SECR O1 65 would also be hauling public services and BR Standard 4MT 80151 would be on the Wealden Rambler dining train. The weather forecast was not great, with 20mph winds and showers predicted for the whole day. Luck was on my side, however, as the rain subsided and the Sun came out just before every shot!
I based myself at Horsted Keynes for most of the day, and we start here to watch 65 heading north on its first train of the day. 34059 can also be heard departing for Sheffield Park. I then rode behind 65 on its return journey and captured 80151 leaving Sheffield Park. We then see the O1 running round, followed by its departure from Horsted Keynes, having rode behind it again up Freshfield Bank. About half an hour later, the 4MT is seen running through with the return working of the Wealden Rambler. Moving to the path that runs alongside the line just north of Horsted Keynes, we see 65 drifting south and, finally, 'Sir Archie' putting the power down on the last service of the day. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay to watch 34059 on the evening Golden Arrow dining train.
