That's the biggest colored spark I've seen on a Tesla coil! From my experience, it's basically impossible to get colored arcs on a large coil with low on-times using a doped electrode, since very little dopant gets evaporated and ionized (and not much gets far from the electrode tip). But with the dopant in water (in your case salt/baking soda), it seems to work flawlessly, and it gives a spectacular sword of electricity! I'd love to see this on you bigger coil, and maybe with some other chemical solutions...lithium would be amazing, but I hate to think of how expensive that could get with gallons of it being sprayed out every minute, lol! Maybe copper sulfate (sold as an algaecide/fungicide in stores) would give green!

Do it on the big one but maybe add more channels to get other colors. Use LiCl or SrCl2 for bright red, and CuCl2 for blue-green. Boric acid gives a more pure green. Just keep the sodium salts far away from any of the other color solutions as Na ions orange really swamps other colors.

It would be interesting to see if you can get longer sparks with a smaller topload or different primary tuning as (I think) the long water stream will add a noticeable capacitance to the secondary coil and detune the primary-secondary system.

Thank you for the suggestion! You are right I did have to detune the setup for the added capacitance about a full turn on the primary. Needed the bigger topload for suppressing of corona. This coil is capable of producing 7 foot arcs. This was a test to see how well it would work next and very soon will be trying this on my big coil which is more then double the amps on the primary approximately 1900amps vs 700amps which should be interesting. Water has Werid effect on water kind of absorbs it 😁👍⚡️

I design these coils my self after getting the fundamentals down. There really not to bad to build but the are attention to detail on these coils that are very important.
