Removing the stigma of mental illness is so very important and I love that Shinedown is addressing it so beautifully. I love so, so many of their songs and this is a fav.

I've seen Shinedown 42 times in concert. They are an amazing band that has so many great songs that talk about mental health, suicide, addiction, positivty, & hope.
I’ve seen them 6 times 3 this year. I requested this song. That’s so awesome you can go that often.
Shinedown has the most #1 hits on the active rock charts. They're one of my favorite bands. IMO- every song is great!

I have Bipolar Disorder! On top of depression I have anxiety and OCD . This song made me cry ! People need to talk about this not hide it in shame ! For me this is like the person who was born with a heart problem. Well for me, I was born with a chemical in balance in my brain that causes these issues. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’m proud I was strong enough to ask for help and to get on medication. Get educated understand what is happening to you then help educate others. That’s the only way we’re gonna take the stigma out of this situation.💜
Thanks for this comment. I'm also Bipolar and I refuse to hide it. I'll yell it loud and clear until people realize that the fact that the chemicals in my brain don't work correctly doesn't mean I'm crazy. The stigma attached to bpd is shameful.

Yea I dealt with social anxiety for a while, even amongst my closest friends I felt uncomfortable and like it was some dark secret no one would understand. Took a few years of ups and downs but can say I'm transformed at this point ☝️

Brent wrote this song about/for bassist Eric Bass who deals with depression & anxiety. Other great songs - Second Chance, Crow and The Butterfly, Get Up,Monsters,Daylight and Sound of Madness.
They are really nice guys. I've met them a few times while shooting photos of their shows (I'm a photographer for a radio station and cover shows for them.)

I've had the biggest man crush on Brent Smith ever since he was featured on Apocalyptica's song "Not Strong Enough". This band is legit!
Shinedown is a band I first heard when .45 hit the radio and 20 years later I still connect to their music. I highly recommend checking out Monsters and their cover of Simple Man belongs with Disturbed's Sound of Silence cover and Johnny Cash's Hurt cover as one of the best I've ever heard.
I think we all experience these feelings. Acceptance and our self worth haunts everyone I know to some degree. The thing that is hard is we feel like it is only us When we realize it is everyone it makes us feel better. Every day is a blessing.

They are on tour with papa roach. Just saw them at “great woods”. They are fantastic in concert. Last time I saw them prior was 2006 in TQ Iraq. Very humble and good dudes in my opinion.

I'd love to see you do a deep dive into Shinedown. Brent Smith has so many relatable songs, he sounds just as amazing live too. This is a band that will become a staple in your life once you go down the rabbit hole.
Great review. Being new to Shinedown, you’re in for a treat as you explore more of their music. Brent’s vocals are on another level - the guy is the best in the business and second place isn’t close. Incredible band and I’m telling you, if you get the chance, see them live. If anything, they’re even better than the studio cuts.
That phrase you said "Imagining ghosts, but they still haunt us" is actually a great way of explaining anxiety. I know that all these scenarios I create in my head aren't likely to happen, but they are still there in the back of my mind.

Shinedown currently has this song on the top 40 radio stations playing alongside bruno, and Rhianna....but they usually play some really good southern rock, if you want to narrow their genre to anything specific.
These guys are all over the place with their sound. It's awesome.

SHINEDOWN HAVE BEEN MAKING MUSIC AND have been around for 20 years
The way I interpret the video is that the book is so symbolic of what we all go through at times. The book the main character is reading is blank, and it gets written as she navigates through life; we all have to learn to cope with the hardships of life without an instruction manual, but there are people that can help us. Another part of it I noticed was that during the outro, other people in the library were "reading" the same book title, but the cover is different: we all go through a lot of the same difficulties, but it will look different from the outside.

My fav song by these guys is "the Crow and Butterfly" even though I can't exactly explain what the lyrics mean. But the melody is amazing. I'd never heard this song, but thanks for posting it. Really top notch. As fun as it is to see you enjoy music I already listen to, it's equally as exciting to get exposed to new music the same way you are.

They've been around for 20+ years and have a huge catalog of amazing songs that cover a wide variety of styles. Personally, my faves are their softer/emotional song like "Unity" or this one, but they have plenty of harder songs that my husband rocks out to like "Cut the Cord" or "Bully".

Being schizophrenic since i was 15, I want to thank you for what you did for your friend. We aren't easy to deal with at times and it's amazing that you did what did.

The song 45 is also one their best song and one of my favorite..
Social anxiety is something ive suffered from and still do suffer from, it makes it really difficult to make friends or hang out with friends because any time im in a big group or i am surrounded by dozens of people say at a bar, a party, or in public i feel like i cant speak and i just shut down i bury my self in my phone and hope that itll end soon so i can be back in my home, and if im being honest i think its lead me to depression in some way because i want to be more social and not feel like i have to change who i am as a person to "fit in" to those around me. It really sucks cause even with friends i feel alone.
I just saw Shinedown in concert on October 17 here in Utah. When they sang this song it was so amazing to look around and see all the flashlights on peoples phones being held up. It was just beautiful site.

Dan supports big time this. He talks about it. I definitely with my struggles decided to NOT let my illness define me. The more people that speak their illness the more educated. And for me my Faith saved me and always will be my life. Listen to Dan’s Son of Pain. Wow empathy in this song! Relate!
his voice in this song is just a color this is not his normal voice so to speak, it is his natural voice but not his naturally used voice, not sure how to say what I mean. Yes, he has a great voice beautiful even.
