  • I take a look at Rotherham United former football stadium, that been left vacant since 2008. The stadium (Millmoor), is still used for Youth Team football. I will then go and see the new stadium for Rotherham United.

Brilliant video mate. I'm a Rotherham fan of 50 years standing & Millmoor holds special memories for me good & bad. The owner of the scrapyard would love to demolish it to expand his "empire" but there's a sporting covenant on the site.

Thanks for watching. I really enjoyed visiting both stadiums and will definitely be coming back at some point. Very interesting, regarding the scrapyard and the fact that Millmoor has a sporting covenant on the site. What do you reckon will happen to the stadium?

@@Kerry8404it means when the land was sold or given away in the deeds it would state that it has to be a sports facility so am presuming they could bull dose it and build a swimming baths or a sports centre but not houses or other things like expanding his scrap yard

Just a few points, the smoke in the background was probably from the Blackburn Meadows biomass plant. There is still some industry left in the area but they don't kick out smoke like that, they wouldn't be allowed. There's been a long standing feud between the ground owner CF Booth and the council over what to do with Millmoor. That feud and Booth's greed is what originally lead to the Millers needing a new stadium. The new stadium, New York Stadium gets its name from the fact that the company that used to be on that ground, Guest and Chrimes, made the fire hydrants that for New York. You can still see the remains of that building on the other side of the stadium. Mears is a big company that have the government contract for social housing in the area.

Hello, thanks for watching my video. Thanks for giving me an insight into Millmoor and how your new stadium got its name. Its very a very interesting piece of history that they made fire hydrants for New York. I will come back up, once the old ground has an open day or match.

Which ground do you prefer? I couldn't believe how close the two grounds were. You are lucky to have a new ground, within the town, rather than on the outskirts.
