  • I have been taking part in racing this truck for a few weeks now.

    We're late to the party but we have 2 of these trucks waiting to be built on the channel and we are dreading the bodies haha
    Looking forward to it, though.
    Thanks for the tips, mate.

    Nice update , keep up with the truck racing, it’s certainly good fun, and the more time on the track you’ll get better and better ;)

      Gradually getting back in to it. I have a stick controller coming as back in the day I used to race with one of those. It may help over a pistol grip one, who knows? Definitely every Tuesday night I'll be there 😄😄

    Gluing the chamfered edge on the front tire is the most important part, its the one tipping over the truck, its also good to clean it between sets, as the edge collects rubber. Set your steering rate to 80-85, this will likely help a lot with the driving, and also decrease scrubbing from turning too much. Deffo put thicker diff oil if you're allowed, at my local club its not allowed to put thicker oil, the rule is that spinning the wheels, shall not spin the wheels on the other end of the truck(so your diff cant be stiff). I doubt your motor is that worn out, unless you've run it super hot.
    Fast servos do a lot, I have a superfast one, and a few people bought new ones after trying it. Having the steering feel like it responds exactly to your input, is important, I think. Nice to see you got a really fast one. Also, good to hear you got the truck a lot more planted with the updates, keep at it, you're on your way to get closer to the fast drivers with each practise session etc.

      @tm5123 Před rokem +1

      Almost forgot to say, racing with trucks against really fast drivers, is good, as you can see a quite pure estimation of your own speed. Once theres more tuning involved, you will see a mix of tuning skill and driving skill. In a very non-tuned stock class, you can see driver skill a lot better, and it also allows you to learn more about driving, which I think should come before tuning. And its helped me get along as a RC racing noob as well :D

      @@tm5123 Thank you for taking time to write these comments, very much appreciated. I have reduced the steering although recently they changed the track design and had the MTC Nationals there. This soaked the carpet with so much additive it has certainly changed the way the truck handles.
      I have a new set of tyres coming as I did an experiment this week with my 'worn' tyres and combined them with someone who was there with new tyres on his first meeting.. It made for interesting driving, thats for sure. I am loving it though and it'll be me and my times that I aim to improve. I am not really there to win so going for personal bests is the aim at the moment. Cheers again for the detailed comments.. note taken

    I am glad you are getting over all that sickness and hope you stay well! I have seen these race and it does look fun and a heck of a challenge! Those top heavy bodies and the bumping and sliding around I have seen in a lot of the race videos just looks fun! I am glad to hear you feel happier with the truck after the last practice! Good luck on the next outing with it!

    I heard that Blue Tack can help a lot to stiffen the Front diff, another Trick ( And this one is the craziest that I heard) is actually chewing Gum..off course after it's chewed lol..yes it is crazy but it seems that these two tricks helps.

    Great vid, I've just got a 2nd hand TT-01 truck, I've got a cheap JX servo to put in mine to improve the steering! Not raced yet but had some practice track time, I was impressed with how much fun they are. pics and a vid on my channel

    A few years ago At Broxtowe we all had given up with the trucks ,
    I had a nightmare with the handling ,even after the front diff and gluing the side walls .
    The front would cause a spin out during high speed corners when on power . I think it's something to do with the staring links flexing under loads and allowing the tyres to bind up and grab on the chassis , I never got to the bottom of it before the class died out.
    We did find out more they drove better outside on tarmac where there was less grip. Enjoy your racing

    Do you race in Torquay? Have a feeling you may from your channel name. I've bought a TT01E truck, haven't built it yet. Sounds like if I wanted to race it locally it has to be torque tuned motor / no hop ups?

    • @rivierarc
      @rivierarc  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, there is downstairs at Hollywood Bowl in Torquay on a tuesday night or at Shiphay on a Wednesday night. Both are standard motor (Torque Tuned) and bearings.. other than that it is just different tyres. The rest is box standard.
