      Im a huge sports fan from Kenya. Rugby, NFL, UFC, boxing, Athletics as my main staple. Intentionally being in the stadium in Kasarani and seeing Shelly-Ann run will remain one of my proudest moments. One of the greatest athletes of any generation. No argument.

      @@Xx-po1fu if you do some pretty basic math, you can tell she would’ve gotten in a medal without any issue. The bronze medal was achieved in 10.92 seconds a.k.a. the exact time that price ran in the opening race - while not even giving it 100%. She would’ve gotten the metal buddy.

    I was STUNNED to see ShellyAnn's lane empty. It's an unfortunate end to her amazing career, but she knows her body. Shelly-Ann's legendary status remains intact for me!! I hope she heals and spends precious time with her family now❤️

      Not neccessarily an end. She could compete again if she wants. If she let's her leg heal. The oldest competitor in this year's Olympics was 59. She is 37. She could skip next Olympics if she needs to and compete then. 45 is not out of the question to compete, just makes it harder.

    The increase in injuries over the last two years are accumulated wear and tear and a sign age is catching up.
    It was a pity she had to withdraw but she has nothing to prove... the best female sprinter we have ever seen.

People spend a lot of time, just coming up with ways for athletes not to get caught... There's stuff that doesn't even show up in tests, because they don't test for everything under the sun.

      ⁠@@edithart5753yes they are tested but ALL athletes are allowed to take substances that are not on the banned substances list. Every year new substances are added to the list and athletes have to start taking new substances if what they take gets added to the list. It is not only possible but very likely that she has been taking LEGAL PEDs her entire career (why wouldn’t she as an Olympic athlete)

    Congratulations Julien Alfred. I called it. Peope were sleeping on Alfred. She paid 7-1 odds. After her 200m against Thomas, she displayed great form but just came up short and didn't have the steam to finish in 1st place. It made me think she would have plenty of pace in the 100m. Alfred will medal in the 200m and will be the future double champion imo.

      She wasn't the only one. People compete under the same conditions. They make no exceptions for people because of their age. She was just unlucky to get injured. Yesterday I saw two other athletes having to quit because of injury during warm ups. In high jump and pole vault. They were young athletes. Sheer bad luck.😢injury can happen at any time and it's always the wrong time

      Bruh as 23 years old yes i was born in 2001 but put that aside as 23 years old I couldn't sprint the same was as I did when I was 19 to 20 like im getting too old to run around like that when I was a kid I was sprinting when I was 8 to 21 between 2009 to 2022 but at 2024 I decide im too old lol

    Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a spectacular athletic. I was looking forward to see her run. In injuries both physical and mental happen and sometimes at the wrong time. Biles came came lets hope Shelly-Ann can recover and return.

    Gabby is such an inspiration and I am certainly not surprised shes a woman of faith. Shes a Neurologist, donates her time free to work in a clinic, and she so Talented, kind, and beautiful. I am glad their are still role models like her out there.

    Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce made a smart move by not running in the semifinals. Her legacy was already secure. Plus, she knew the next generation of sprinters is on another stratosphere. By stepping aside, she preserved her health and understood the nature of the game. I don’t think she will run the 200m, so focusing on the 4x100 is a great way to pass the baton, giving it one last go with these newer athletes.

      @@razzalee305 just that both had a “late rush to warm up” but both had a different outcomes. Meaning that I don’t think the late situation had an impact on SFP. My heart breaks for her. She’d have been on the podium. I wanted to Richardson to win too, but Alfred looked better at each stage and Richardson had another bad start, which is her bugaboo.

    Up until this story, I was unaware she was competing. I watched to cheer for my American team, but was a fan of hers since she was in her first Olympics. She definitely would've been a serious threat this year. What a shame.

    They said it wasn’t her health but something behind the scenes with the Olympics themselves. Something to do with the transportation and her taking a private car. They wouldn’t allow her entrance with warm up and practice. Something definitely wasn’t right in this situation, she always shows up.

I know she said that she had time but she didn't even run. How many athletes at her skill level would not cut off parts of their body to get a medal and she didn't run because her leg didn't feel right, come on.       There isn’t an athlete alive that would cover for the IOC, especially not if they were cheated out of competing. You have, without a doubt, posted the single stupidest take possible here. Every athlete knows when something doesn’t feel right. It’s one thing to say “she should’ve run anyway!” when it’s not your hamstring that’s injured. The 100m dash is a race where NOTHING can go wrong if you want to win. Sha’carri had a bad start and because of it had no chance B of catching up. There’s no way to confidently run injured and expect to not exacerbate the injury.

Glad Alfred won but it just leaves one to wonder what if the organizers had used a little more discretion how different the race would have been.       I think the wet surface also played a factor - Sha'Carri seemed a little slippery out of the blocks and couldn't kick it into gear until it was much too late. But it wasn't just her, lots of athletes were struggling due to the rain

    What I think went wrong is the fact that they have two of the fastest runners Shelly-Ann and Shakari in the semifinals. This means that they both would have to run as if they were in a final. This would put too much strain on their bodies, especially Shelly-Ann because the final would be within the next two hours. This does not give them enough time to recoup.

    Shelly is a forever favorite , there is nothing better .. one of the most incredible stories in human history . Broke my heart to see she couldnt do her one last race , that she worked so hard for.
    Reminds of Bolts last race.
    I was also a sprinter and had an injury during what was supposed to be a victorious time of becoming the state champion, i was soo close. Sometimes life is unfair like that ... its so extremely gutwrenching . But to have ended it all with an injury would have been much worse . I will always celebrate Shelly !!!!!

    What happened? Performance enhancing drugs. Shericka Jackson pulled out of the 100, seemed like an odd decision. Claimed to be focusing on the 200 and pulls out of that too.
    Fraser Pryce pulled out in another odd situation. Firstly because she couldn’t warm up and then claimed to pull out due to injury.
    It just doesn’t pass the smell test.
