  • Following on from the first event in this discussion series, where the topic of tipping elements, irreversibility, and abrupt change in the Earth system was introduced, we now present an event focused on the role of the Amazon. The event took place on 29 November 2021, 17:00-18:30 CET.
The event included two excellent talks:
Is the Amazon Rainforest near a Tipping Point? - Carlos Nobre
Amazon Forest dieback in CMIP6 Earth System Models - Peter Cox
The talks were followed by discussions on the topic.
This discussion series is a joint activity of Analysis, Integration, and Modeling of the Earth System (AIMES), the Earth Commission, and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Safe Landing Climates Lighthouse Activity.
