I love old Saxon. I mean really love. But I can't stand the 80s records post The Eagle has Landed. But I do love the track Battle Cry. What a great track.
When this album came out I was disappointed that Steve Dawson was not in the band anymore. Still can't understand why he got sacked. Anyway, Saxons sales went down since their early albums, and they watched Def Leppard becoming super big in the States. No wonder they tried to jump on the same bandwagon (Waiting for the night)!

A lot of people want to say the same about Raven and ‘The Pack is Back’ from the same year, but that album is also to me just fun as hell. Both went a poppier direction, but they still fuckin rock. And both albums were very much albums only those bands could deliver. They actually both have a similar guitar thing going on that I find absolutely wonderful and that I haven’t heard elsewhere. Also, I love your CZcams handle! Voivod forever! Outer Limits is tied with Dimension Hatross for my favorite Voivod record
@Benjamin Hehemann. I saw this band on the Rock The Nations Tour on Jan. 20, 1987 in East Syracuse, New York! They opened for Raven, who opened for W.A.S.P. and the power went out during the show. I already liked Saxon, but they dominated the other two bands, and ever since, I have loved Saxon. Glad to hear from you, sir. You are wise. And, yes: Voivod is one of my favorites, for sure. You are a genius for picking up the reference! Rock on, brother.
