A question about something unrelated for you Del. Do you know if Ash that's probably suffering with dieback becomes a not good choice for a stave. I have had one fail on me just now during quite early tillering.

I don't know... but, I'd suspect that If it's been standing dead it will have rot in, but If cut while still alive it would be ok.
