- I walk around Croton Gorge Park and walk across the New Croton Dam in Westchester County, NY.
Google Maps Location: goo.gl/maps/Bz...
From Wikipedia:
"Croton Gorge Park is a park in Cortlandt, New York owned and operated by Westchester County. It consists of 97 acres (39 ha) at the base of New Croton Dam. The park is a popular venue for fishing, picnicking, sledding and cross country skiing. The Old Croton Trail begins in the park, which also includes a baseball field and an impressive fountain occasionally operated with high pressure water from the reservoir. The fountain was reopened in 2000 after having been out of service since the mid twentieth century.
The road over the top of the dam is one of four arteries for crossing the Croton River (only three of the bridges connect to public roads at both ends). Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, this road has been closed to non-emergency vehicles as a security precaution, though it remains open to pedestrians and bicycles. Previously, school buses had used the road as the best route available."

The aqueduct is right behind my dads backyard, (my childhood house) in Yonkers. That dam is nice. Also the Valhalla dam is a nice place to go/walk.
Wow, nice
I grew up in Ossining...right next door, so going to Croton Dam was a pretty big part of my life. I'm glad I grew up in an area with so much natural beauty and history. Thanks Actionkid.
Your camera catches all the colors perfectly. The blue sky is amazing.
I didn't know how much I needed this video. Florida has nothing on these views.
Florida has sinkholes and lakes which are extremely scenic!
Your videos are helping me plan future day trips for the spring and summer next year!
Absolutely beautiful thank you
You should definitely post these videos more instead of the state of emergency videos. These videos give me hope and Calmness and happiness and more excited to see instead of the state of emergency videos
I agree with you Brooklyn.
anders damin Yea true we all have our differences but me it’s hard watching NY so empty and going through such a hard time and seeing the hospitals but I love the clapping ones tho😊
This is a very amazing dam and park, a lovely walking tour.
So beautiful waterfall and bridge! Lovely place and wonderful day there ☀️
Thanks for this video, I REALLY enjoyed it. I'll admit I have stopped watching your State of Emergency videos because I find them depressing (sorry, I know others like them but we are all different and that's what makes the world a great place, to have us all differing) and they make me feel down and sad. This video, however, lifted my spirits tremendously. It was so great to see people enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors as best they can in the current situation. Thank you Ken.
Red Lipstick Right tbh same thing for me like the state of emergency videos I already know what its going to look like and how the video is, so I don’t bother but he should post these kind of videos more
@@jaheim_theboss7167 Absolutely, this video was definitely what people need right now! Hope you are safe in your part of the world. Take care! :)
Yeah, I just publish videos of walks and nature basically. I haven't posted anything in regards to Covid.
Red Lipstick I put a typo it’s supposed to say what its going to look like in that paragraph snd I will be safe thank you so much and same to you God Bless & take care
ACTION KID is an ESSENTIAL worker, keep doing what you're doing AK, you are helping to keep us all sane!
Iv'e got to tell you, i'm having a great time watching your travels & tours around the state of New York!
Especially in an alarming mode like this, when we're all staying at home and concerns about this horrible pandemic, there's no such a great thing than to sit at home and watch your beautiful vids!
Wish you a great success and stay safe and healthy!
Really good work bro, NYC is one of my favorite places .
Keep on doing this beautiful things , greetings from Chicago but I'm actually Turkish. See you around
@@tdot4k you can visit Turkey whenever you want.
And if you want a quick lift, why don't you watch one of turkey tour videos
@@tdot4k hello Voyager how're you doing? How's your day today? Any good things?
@@tdot4k I have a dog and I go outside with my dog almost everyday, he's Gale.
I hope you to go outside later and to have a nice week start over there with your father.
I love the blue sky with the white clouds! And the power of water is amazing. A very nice walk, thank you A. K. !
Good video ActionKid! The neighborhood I used to live in in Putnam County was located just behind the West Branch Reservoir that feeds water into the Kensico Reservoir in Armonk/Valhalla, then into Hillview in Yonkers, and finally to the boroughs of NY. Amazingly vital infrastructure that is often taken for granted by the locals of the metro area, especially when considering much of it was built well over a century ago.
9:55 the most beautiful view water fall. Full of water
This was amazing to see up close like that!! Thank you AK! 👍💙
"Croton Falls" which is a township of North Salem, is a town located 24 miles north from Croton Gorge Park in Croton on the Hudson, I grew up in Croton Falls & constantly was asked about Croton Dam from those thinking it was in Croton Falls to which had to explain that it was not near but a 24 mile ride south..
Badass
Beautiful Park, to visit with family o friends 👫. Thanks for the video. I love it.!!!
I did enjoy this video. Thanks! Stay safe.
Beautiful views from the top of the dam
Beautiful waterfall, nice video thanks.
😎😎 awesome thanks 😘
This is gorgeous! This must be on the east side of the Hudson River in Westchester yes?? I wish I had known about ths place when I lived up there on the other side of the river, I would have definitely taken my children when they were young
Luckily you and thousands of people didn’t and those of us who got to grow up they’re actually used to live the experience. I hate people who exploit special places as if they can’t just enjoy it on their own and have to invite the world so you can turn it into Jones Beach
Did somebody already tell you that your work is very... very important for us??? thank you, very, very much!
I can feel the power of that waterfall..!!
Ooh I so want to go here. Tganks.
I fished there my whole life. Third generation croton
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful place. It was a nice escape from reality...until I noticed too many people on the dam. Take care; stay safe.
Beautiful!!! Good to hear your voice again!!! Stay safe
Amei vídeo...... diretamente do Brasil 🇧🇷
I was just there earlier today! Very scenic place!!
That was a beautiful walk ActionKid! So epic with that waterfall, so scenic. Glad you got some good air, and had a good trip. Great video!
Oh wow! 2:35
I'm just taking in that view 9:45
Clean ending! 15:50
What part of STAY HOME don't you understand?
New York likes to be number 1 at a lot of things, and he is doing his best to get NYC number 1 in deaths from COVID19, and I think they will get there, I wonder what the winning city gets when this is all over?
Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing! I’m going Sunday March 21st 2021. Supposed to be 60 degrees.
Thank you so much for sharing the lovely Croton Dam video! I really miss being able to visit forests, waterfalls etc, due to no vehicle & health problems. ActionKid, I would have loved to see more of what was past the bridge & the gorgeous scenery. Perhaps another time.
That was beautiful Kenneth!😃👍
Wonderful view - thanks so much for the tour. If possible, please consider going there next month or later on so that we may see how it looks like with all the seasonal greenery. In fact, it probably looks more beautiful in Autumun. Take care & stay safe.
Thank you for video so amazing place!
Great location. Thanks for the video, Ken.
Awesome video 👍 thank you ☺️🇨🇦
thanks i really enjoyed it with my coffee
Going there today
Nice place. By the way, is it legal to walk around without the police stopping you for violating the quarantine?
There's laws against social gatherings, so if you are only walking around in small groups in suburbs and not stop and talk to extended amount of time you won't be in trouble
The cops dont want to talk to people or go out of their cars anymore then we do. I doubt they will say anything even if it was against the law to walk around
I think ActionKid has implied many times he doesn't care about the law, or the way it's actively passing the death on to older humans, unless he cares to correct me.
@Greg I say this because here in Colombia we cannot go out and walk every day to run errands and buy food, for example, there are days when only women can go out, and there are days when only men can go out. In addition to all of the above, we have a citizen identity number that tells us which day we should go out. The police can fine us $300 if we do not comply with these government regulations.
Amazing Thanks for sharing
Thank for this video
This is amazing , I’ve never seen a dam. I learned about canal locks last time I was in NY & found it fascinating... not many of those in FL 😂. Ty for a beautiful video! ❤️ Happy Easter!
I was told yesterday about this place because I need to go somewhere to ground myself and relax, is there a trail for hiking?
Amazing!
beautiful
Enjoyed this video, Thanks
Excellent video. I drove by their years ago and didn't know they had so much to do and see. Thanks action kid. Hopefully I can get their with the family soon
This place is cool. The Aqueduct Trail runs right behind my building. I live in Yonkers and have gone here many times for photos. It's really cool for sunrise, especially from the top.
Oh, the Aqueduct Trail leads up to Croton Dam?!? I never knew that! Talk about a cool run/ bike!
@@chriskelvin248 I definitely have not taken the trail all the way to the dam, but that would be an interesting trip. From the start of the trail at Van Cortlandt Park to the Dam it's about 26 miles long, according to the park's website.
I've only walked one part when I attended my brother's wedding at Tarrytown House.
Thanks for doing this video @ActionKid !! That was cool. I had no idea. I wanna visit there too.
Beautiful park and waterfall! The sky is bluer than I've ever seen it. Would love to visit when this crisis is over. Thanks for the post, AK!
TY
This is relaxing!!
Hi Action Kid! Always love your walking videos -- this one is great! (btw, that round enclosure that you looked at in the beginning and said you didn't know what it was: It is a fountain that has the water shut off. Mystery solved!) Keep up the good work!
The water runs from the reservoir down the spillway down the Croton River out to Croton-on-Hudson into the Hudson River
Beautiful place
Im trynna move to Upstate New York after school🗽🚗🚙
anders damin Idk yet you have any good area’s you can think of
Beautiful AK!!!...💝🖐
That is quite a dam when viewed from the top. Wish I was there with you, beautiful sunny day. Thanks for sharing!!
Do another video during winter when it’s frozen?
We used to skip school then head over here and party
A refreshing video that relaxes and lowers the stress level.
AK, have you hiked up Breakneck Ridge in Cold Spring? Best hike until the Catskills, hands-down! Also, has its own Metro North train station. Check the train schedule, it may be a weekend and holiday stop and may be seasonal/ COVID19-affected currently. It's also very rugged and slightly dangerous, lol.
"Welcome to our dam tour. Take all the dam pictures you want. Ask all the dam questions you want." When I lived in Las Vegas, this was the beginning of the tour your got at the Hoover Dam back in the 90s. When we took my cousin on the tour he stopped mid tour to ask the guide, "What do you do when you have a leak?" The guide told him, they do not use the word leak, they refer to it as "seepage." About a half hour later my cousin raised his hand again and asked "Excuse me, Sir? Where can I take a seepage?"
Wow......
I walk my dog there all the time I go to FDR park also that big circle used to be a fountain
Can't help but be impressed by that massive Damn. I wonder If the person who laid the first brick knew how it would look once built..
Are restrooms easily accessible from the parking lot? I have seniors with me and I want to make sure they don’t have to walk much to get to a restroom.
Thank you Ken!! Stay safe. 😙😙😙
WOW, this is amazing!
Check that take grants ln from rt 134 right off the Taconic Parkway

What happened to the Old Croton Dam?
Whoah
There's a famous dam near where I live, Derwent Dam , but it fails in comparison with this one ✌️✌️😟😟
👍
Lived in Somers, Westchester CO for many years, not too far away from that dam🍷🍷😎
Cool 😎 video
Nice video. I don't care what the narrative says, this couldn't be built in 1892, & this can't be built today, no way.
Yes -it was built in the 1890's and it's an amazing construction.
@@zorkwork3841 yes, its amazing construction
Mary B of Erie County died 4 years after her father, Mr. B.
Loved it. Originally from NY (central finger lakes) Great grandfather Tompkins came from Westchester area but have never been to area.
Great to see a clear sky!
NY is a beautiful state.
Can one drink that water right from the fall?
Very nice, but it's not upstate. It's in Westchester county bordering the Bronx.
True but anything north of White Plains feels upstate in a sense, and I’m from Mt. Vernon lol. Probably just me
That’s cool!!!
3:40 I got around half way, and there’s graffiti near the top so people have likely done it
Ez is egy szép hely!!
Hola Actionkid, es una fuente( it s a fountaine that you said “ i don t know what it is)
Thank you for video from Uruguay
other than the 5 minutes of bouncing concrete walkway with rails on either side that I couldn't see over ... Gee I wonder what the view was like along the way
05:00 looks like a drained pond with a fountain.
05:02 - I think it is a dried-up fountain.
Ken finally goes upstate.
Just to tell your viewers that Westchester is NOT upstate New York. Rochester and Buffalo are in upstate New York, Western New York to be more precise. New Yorkers think anything above the Hudson Valley is "upstate". It isn't.
When I lived on Long Island as a kid, anything north of the city was upstate! Then we moved to Rockland and realized the err of my ways.
Putnam valley New York was my hometown
Nice walk! :)
ActionKid you should come back to this place in the Autumn.
