- We put a BMW e46 325ci up against an e46 330ci, is it worth getting the 330ci over the 325ci? we do a 0-60 mph test to see which one is faster, taking into consideration the modifications and miles these cars have gone through.

I just acquired a 03 330ci. And if there's anything I've learned from this video is if you can't afford to fix them, then be nice to them lol
Haha yes that is very true !
amen to this rule. this is why I prefer to baby mine.
All the oil leaks! lol....
Mine is kinda low miles, so she's not leaking a whole lot. But I've made the "grown up decision" to not really get on her until I replace the gaskets and seals
Don’t weld your dif. That’s what broke the driveshaft. It’s binding wear
I was the owner of that 325ci back in 2016! Nice to see its still on the road. I restored the car from a terrible neglected state, mostly body work. Put the leather interior in etc, it was my first project car. If you want any info or pics get in touch. Nice video lads, keep it up 👍🏼
Dope comment and reflection
I currently own 2004 325ci and love my car. I previously owned a 318. I took recently (6 months ago) had oil seals gaskets replaced. I've had a loss of power since then. Once I gear up its good, the take off drags. Otherwise I love my car. Still trying to figure out the loss in power.
@@AnthonyDavis-ey3bp have you looked for cracks on the intake pipes? They are prone to cracking. Might be worth cleaning the MAF too plus a full service. 325ci generally bulletproof
I have a couple of questions. Where can I get in contact with you?
@@Raymondcurry67 their instagrams are in the video description fam
Always buy a 330. If you can’t find one, wait. It’s worth the wait. There are loads of differences these guys didn’t go over. Get a 330.
Yes I agree 👌🏼 your videos are cool man, I’ve watched them before 👌🏼
Love my 330i, gonna keep rebuilding it till it completely falls apart
Another great vid, Jakes reaction to the snapped DS was hilarious (sorry jake) 😂
Hahah yeah 😂 cheers 🍻
Got a ‘02 330ci at 115,000 miles:)
Put about 10,000 miles in it already and runs clean! Changed out all the gaskets, CSF radiator, AFE cold air intake system, AFE exhaust system coming in next week, still need to get new control arm and bushings, and need to get suspension work done, then finally buying some new wheels! Eventually I want to get it ready enough to throw a turbo in it
Nice! Sounds like it will be a beast 🔥👌🏼 i always wanted to turbo mine haha
Yoo I just got an 02 330ci as well!!! At 119,000 miles for $3800 and everything works great! I consider that a major steal lol
Be interesting to do the vanos seals on both and retest 0-60. Torque comes in much sooner when vanos is 100%. Also if you guy are using oil check you CCV’s, main cause of oil consumption. I haven’t used a drop of oil between changes since I replaced it👍
Yes the vanos seals and ccv was both done on the 330 just before we did the test. Stay tuned as we might do another video on it at some
Point 👊🏼
Great video and great information for folks looking to buy an e46! 👍
Awesome thank you 🙏
A major difference is the 325ci is a 2.5 liter and the 330ci is a 3.0. Should have mentioned they have different engines. 185hp 325i to 230hp for the 330i
i was also surprised no one brought this up!
And what about the differential
BMW notoriously underrated it’s engines. I took my 325ci to the Dyno and it was 215hp bone stock.
@@Ashw1115that’s crazy because I have a stock 325i, it feels way quicker, it’s crazy because I can keep up with cars around 300 hp when cutting up
Intake boots throttle body and brakes are bigger on the 330
Haha nooo, I felt the pain when that driveshaft snapped. I did almost the same thing on my 330Ci with welded diff (2.93). Rainy weather, hung her out in a skid and "BAM", snapped the output flange coming out of the diff to the driveshaft in half. The shaft, with half a output flange, got flung upwards so hard it hit and bent part of the subframe... Looked underneath, carnage. Broken and bent parts here and there, oil pouring out the side of the diff... Shit was, as the kids say, not lit fam :'(
$700 for a tow truck and another ish $500 in parts and now she running great (y)
Great video, whereabouts exactly did you get the remaps from as have a 325ci with an m52tub28 engine, thanks
Thanks man! 👌🏼 I got it from www.dgmaps.co.uk they are pretty good and good price 👌🏼
E46 in 2024 still is the best
Catless headers are the bang for the buck for these cars so I recommend you both get them with a SAP delete. 3.0 CAMS can be thrown into the 2.5 which is life changing for the 325ci. Additionally, these cars are extremely heavy. Some weight reduction make these cars seem less like driving a boat. And in the video there were 3 people in the car which I assume weigh about 160-180 lbs each so that's some mass weight.
Awesome video
Getting a manual swap on my 318ci as we speak so excited
Good luck with the swap. Bet it’ll be a completely different car
how much is that costing you, interested as im thinking about it myself
im curious about price as well, thank you...
I'm sure someone will put me right , but if the diff is welded won't the 330 still be able to drive on one wheel? Carefully of course , and a welded diff will wear the rear tyres more on corners won't they ?
Yes we still managed to get home with one axel haha yes it does wear the tires a bit quicker 🤘🏻
Yeah definitely subscribing
Subbed, love this haha
Thanks man, we appreciate it ! 🤘🏻
Good stuff. Respect where guys have gone :)
@@krisfix969 thanks man!
I'm actually looking into a 330ci or e90 330i at the minute, had a 325ci a couple years ago best car I've owned, like the vid lads just subbed aswel✌
Thanks man appreciate it 👌🏼🤘🏻
Get the e90 its way faster & comes w a 6 speed which is rare to get on a e46
@@juancabrerajr9996 Also uglier
I own e46 325i auto sport love it . Great car . Mine standard .
Nice! Yea they are awesome ! 🤘🏻
I love my e46 325 convertible it's done 134k and everything still works it's Awesome. It does like to warp front discs though, I've just done in my third set in four years
Haha yeah man they cool cars 👌🏼yeah mine did too
Proud owner of an E46 330 m sport manual convertible, so watching this was kinda interesting, but ouch to the snapped driveshaft…..
I got 2004 330ci man love this car
Amazing content, I feel super bad for jake man
Thanks man, haha yeah it’s all fixed now 👌🏼
Good to know 😄 it will be two years this summer I’ve had my 325ci. It’s my first e46 and I
It’s say..it’s interesting 😄
Hahah yeah they are definitely interesting cars 😂
Subbed, cool vids lads.
Thank you dude appreciate it 🤟🏼
@@BadgerBoy unlucky with the shaft.
@@GaragE36uk when we got back we looked under it properly was a actually the diff that snapped inside the case 😂
Never buy a 325 get a 330 huge difference in power
i've only changed the oil sensor and ingition coils other than roters and pads to my brakes. Mine is 2004 325i m56 SULEV four door. Only 48k miles on it since i purchased it new. no chasis reinforcement nor vanos replacementn
Subbed for the broken driveshaft ahhh this is good content
Hahaha thanks man, turned out that we actually snapped the diff 😂
@@BadgerBoy oh dam whet snapped in the diff? Any pictures of it?
Fr I be driving my 325ci pushing 5000 rpm’s and I’m like alright calm down already especially on the freeway you get so many people thinking they are fast I don’t mind it but if it’s aultima or a civic or Prius you know I have to put them in their place
I've got a bone stock 196,000 mile E46 323ci, I wonder if there is much difference between mine and a remapped 325ci
Wouldn’t be a big difference, I think the 325ci is 8-10hp more from factory, wouldn’t be that noticeable
323 has 170 bhp 325 has 192.
Oh how I miss my 330ci, but my Z4C has the same “spirt”
Yeah z4’s are awesome 👌🏼
Get 3.0 X5 E53 :D great traction , and pimp ride
i have a 330ci conv for sale, let me know if youd like the info.. its an awesome car...
@@krisfix969 I had one a 2001 X5 3.0i with aftermarket back boxes. They go like shit off a stick.. I miss mine, fast for a big lump of a car
I have a lot of cars one of which is a auto 325ci and I came across another 325ci but manual and I want a drift car your video popped up but after watching this I don’t think I’m about that bmw life I think I’m gonna just get a ls400 and do a manual swap
isnt it 2.5L (325i) and 3L (330) ? THAT ist a big difference, especially in torque: ~ 250 vs ~ 300
Drive them both and come back saying it’s not a big difference.
I got a 325 when I was really looking for a 330, the nick and spec was right.
Not done anything tuning-wise, but I have put a 3.38 diff on out of a 330D and it makes a huge difference, nightmare for a daily on the 5spd but it goes like hell. It’s had a big refresh- vanos, CCV & all the rubber bits underneath.
I will be getting a new manifold (gravity or e36), Custom pipe & a remap (7k rev limit with oil pump & tensioner mods).
Do you regret getting a 325? I am really looking for a 330 but found a 325 in an insanely rare colour
I bought two brand new manual 325Ci Sports in 2003. I then went and bought a one owner manual 325i Sport [4 door] a few years later. I still have it :) I did a fair bit of research at the time and took brand new 330Ci and 325Ci out for lengthy test drives. The difference was between the two stock models was imperceptible for [fast] road use. 18 years down the line the 325i Sport [4 door] manual is probably the best buy of the E46 family - cheaper, more chance of being better looked after and with the M54 - one of the nicest 6 pots BMW ever made. Ensure you get it with the alcantara recaro interior too !
I just got 2004 325ci convertible 75k miles it’s beautiful
❤️
Sad update after I made this post a teenager was driving with no lights and hit me so now it’s been in a wreck 😢 I pick it up from body shop today 4600 worth of damages insurance company tried to say the car is worth 3200 after I put up a fuss they changed it to 6600 I’m just not driving it anymore after this experience I’m just gonna let it sit 😂😂😂
But the car looks brand new
How much did you guys spend on reinforcing your subframe? im here in australia, costed me $2500
Only cost me around £200 as I done all the work myself 👌🏼that’s a lot haha
Had the same issue on my 320i.
Ended up doing the diff bushes as well as subframe bushes and reinforcement. Naturally also found 2 broken springs and 2 snapped drop links while under there and all... ended up being around £300 for the lot, which is what I paid for the car a year ago 😂
loving the channel< i need some serious help w me two bmws cant lie
I’m about to put a 330i engine into my E36 saloon, the car weighs around 1200kg, I think I can beat those 0-60mph times, I will use them as a bench mark haha !!
That sounds awesome ! And yes I recon you will be the same as the 330
If not a bit faster the main reason the 330 wast that much faster was because of the welded diff As the 325ci was spinning on one wheel at the start 👍🏼
@@BadgerBoy mine has a 2.93 open diff (standard on the e36 328’s ) lightened flywheel coupled with a full stainless exhaust and remap. I’m hoping it will dick most 330’s 😂
One thing never mentioned what fuel did you use, 95, 97, or 99?
Cheapest stuff 😂😂
Had an 02 330ci msport in topaz blue. Had a remap 20bhp increase. Doesnt sound like much better it deffo helped. Went from 230bhp to 250.
It was a 5sp manual. Brilliant car, loved it
That’s a good increase! Yea they are awesome cars for the price !👌🏼
20hp with remap only? Sure..
Not a chance did you get 20bhp from a remap son 😂😂
Banana ! good content boyz
Thanks a lot 😉
I just bought a 325i sedan with 60k miles for $5500!!!! was definitely worth it even if its not a 330
in my garage - e46 318i, e46 330ci ,e46 325 cabrio and mercedes c180 kompressor and seat ibiza 1.4i but I love 330ci .
lol Jake’s face 🤣🤣🤣 love this vid!!!!
😂😂😂 thanks
what coils are on the 330i?
What year is Jake’s 330?
Nyc 👌
Can u do one 330auto vs manuall
Why you dont stop the time with an free to use 0-60mph app. Ther`re pretty precise.
We tried 2-3 apps and they kept not working properly, so we just used the timer
But you didn't include the cost of the second drive shaft!
Does anyone else hear bubbling or gurgling noises coming from there dipstick in the 330Ci PLEASE lmk. And if you can tell me watch wrong also PLEASE LMK!!!!
omg preface so much better looking at the front
Wow, DG maps are the worst ECU. Stock car does not make any power past 6,4k due to cats restricting the airflow. Also on the 325 intake cam is rubbish so dont expect any gains with higher rev limiter.
Raising the rev limiter is quite dangerous as these engine suffer from oil pump failure due to vibrations in high rpm which loosen the oil pump nut or completely tear the shaft. The stock airbox is times better than this hot air intakes, i do map a lot of these on a daily basis and the dg maps apart from being dangerous to catalytic converters and ripping oil pumps does nothing good. Put back to standard will be alot better. A lot of times LESS is MORE ;)
ok, now I need one...
I went for a manual 330i M-sport, but touring. The touring was the only way to get a cheap and well maintained 330i less than 3k€. It's hard to find a car that offers more bang for bucks than my touring.
in which country you found well mantened 330i for 3k euro?
Surprisingly in Switzerland. It's well maintained, no rust, but it had 277k km and is a touring. So those are the reason for the low price. But I'd pick a top spec touring over a poverty spec coupe any day.
Of course the 330
Had a E46 330ci back in the day sold it after 8 months for an e46 M3 manual and i can tell you a 325 or a 330 and not even in the same league as the M3. Day and night difference in every way.
Yeah driven an m3 and you are right is something else !
Sadly the S54B32 engine sounds kinda shit compared to the M54B30 :/
@@Basih From outside it sounds a bit raspy some like it some dont but from inside the car when your really on it , It sound very different , a very angry and loud pure straight 6 sound. It great trust me😉👍
Make sure your m3 rear subframe has been reinforced
Haha this was a funny one, i owe a '00 325ci and mine has mysterious problem with revs (been changing parts for a year now in hopes it goes away) but Jesus
just doesn't love me :D But still brings alot of pleasure driving it, expecially after a '18 VW Caddy 1.9d, you just cannot compare them, even having that gap in Release date. Proper petrol BMW just dont get old. Overall, this was Banana s
Thank you 🙏 yea there is always problems with Beamers but they are always worth the effort and time at the end of the day 🤟🏼
I had the same problem untill I replaced my ccv, alternator and a new battery
nooo not the drive shaft 😂💀
😂😂was actually the diff that ended up snapping
good chanel bro
Thanks bro 👊🏼👊🏼
Bannana! And I thought I was the only Monkey channel that features E46's!
gewt one day X5 . after that e46 aint thing :D
325ci is powerful enough and already has the best diff ratio. Swap that shit at engine failure
Haha yeah man the 325 is good fun 👌🏼
Love it hahaha
Thanks bro 🔥
One is pre-lci and the other one is the updated lci version. Case closed, no video needed.
👍🏼
Did the 330 have the thick driveshafts? Or the smal ones?
Has the thick hollow ones if I remember right
@@BadgerBoy i read it was the diff that broke not the driveshaft.... what broke?
@@JorisV1983 yeah the side cup on the diff completely snapped off so the bolts and diff cup were still connected to the driveshaft if that makes sense
Banana. I would love to get bmw for my next new car. I currently have Ford Escape 2016se 1.6 eco boost. I have had it since 2016 bought brand new
Would an LSD also cause the shafts to break?
Only thing that I don't like on the 325 it has only a 5 speed, the LCI 330i has a 6 speed
Banana!!! I don’t have Insta because i’m cleansing. Can the alternative be that I can model this when I go for a walk with Christine? 😁😂 It would make her day!
Yea that’s fine as you are my nans best friend 👍 you will have to wait till next week when we reveal the winner :)

My 330ci is for sale 138k miles any takers?
I regret selling this 330CI Sideways monster
stock euro 330ci should do 6.5s to 100
Probably more down to weather conditions and tyres
Cold weather high mileage and 2 passengers
What’s the insurance like on the 325 ?
Depends on age and experience, was 1200 for me haha
@@BadgerBoy do you think the 325 is a good first car ?

What about 328i ?
Daje 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 👍🏻

Have a rust free proper solid 323ci auto. It’s not fast (0-60 in 9 in manual) but it’s comfi & imo beautiful. I want & will have a 330ci auto in the next few months
It’s much faster than that a 323 is just a pre LCI 325 it does 0-60 in 8.8 without sport mode and 7.1 in sport mode
@@ArthurWerkzTV Arthur perhaps a manual does, but even in manual mode it’s woefully slow. The time I quoted was using a stopwatch. I still have the 323ci & am on my second 330ci. Put a stopwatch on that also & it doesn’t come even close to the claimed 6.5 seconds to sixty
Bannnanna 😁🔥🔥
🙌🏼🔥
I've had the 328 and then a used stock 330ci zhp. Get the 330ci as you can feel the speed difference especially when flooring it on the freeway, 0-60 in 5.6 second with just the driver inside.
Yeah the zhp is good 👌🏼
I have no idea how you guys got 7.82s 0-60 on the 325ci.... I have an 06 325ci and I'm getting 5.36s with less mods
A stock 325ci is 7.1 seconds, ours was with damp roads and wheels spinning

Your vanos engages so much harder then mine. I'm at 140k with original vanos seals
They have a ecu remap and just rebuild your vanos
Rebuild it, it takes a couple of hours and its a big diffrence in smoothnees,
Also rebuild the flap in the intake that makes a big diffrance also
Yeah also rebuild the Disa Valve but when you take if of make sure the pin doesn't fall off. The sell a upgraded pin so it will never fall off and mess up your engine

If you want to compare cars do 100-200 kmh runs so grip isnt an issue, there is a huge GAP. Also use GPS tracking like draggy gps or vbox. This time worth zero information on that. 0-60 is childish and has too many factors, only manufacturers can deliver correct info. Also cars too modded to be compared

Ah the pops and burbles. That's a trend I sure wish would not have caught on. About five years ago I had an exhaust tossed on mine and wasn't even thinking about having that. It was kind of subdued compared to what is on the road today because instead of it being a side effect of a car that's been turned people are purposely dumping fuel into their exhausts because they like the popping sounds, and because they're utter jackasses as well. I swear I don't know what it is but there's a subset of the worldwide nodding community that looks at an actual race car then says things like "Oooo! Wing on race car! Me put wing on me car and go fast!" Or "Ooo! Camber on race car! Me put more camber on me car than race car!" Or "Ooo! Race car make loud noise! Me car make loud noise! Me go fast!" Look do whatever the hell you want with your car (not anyone specifically just a general you) but don't think because it's your car that means other people can't point and laugh at all the "enhancements" you added.
You’re mad
