    Got delivery of a 940-2 last August 19, 2023 and I love it. I'm normally into either tactical knives or hard use outdoor folders. My 940 has become my favorite carry knife. I love it so much I'm thinking of getting another 940.

    Yes that is the best Benchmade knife ever made!!

    I bought the 940-1 and like this configuration the most!

    @blm232tx Před rokem +5

    The 940-1 is the carbon fiber version with the S90V blade. The original aluminum scales with the purple titanium backspacer is just called the 940.

      I definitely got mixed up during the video with the designations. Thanks for the clarification!

    Gotta go with the aluminum scales, I love the feel of the OG. Both are perfectly good knives, obviously.

    Nothing like a 940! I sold mine a long time ago & regret it till this day. So I just ordered another one. Gave up on Benchmade a long time ago. But not on the 940. Probly my favorite folder of all time. The green aluminum scale is my favorite one. Can’t wait to have it back in my pocket.

    You gotta buy the original Benchmade 940 Osborne with the aluminum handles. it's the best configuration. The Benchmade 940 Osborne is 100% a gentleman's knife that demands attention and respect.

    • @deadvikingtrolls
      @deadvikingtrolls Před 6 měsíci +2

      The 940 is an amazing design and the aluminum scales offer a more weighty, solid feel. The 940 is also slightly too long for my purposes and modding has pushed me toward the utility of textured carbon fiber scales. If you need a slightly smaller knife that happens to be both rugged and handsome you can do worse than the 945, I've become a collector.

    • @trevorthomas1030
      @trevorthomas1030 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @deadvikingtrolls , I've personally been thinking about a few different Benchmade knives, the Shootout, The Mediator, the carbon fiber Bugout, and the CLA.

    • @deadvikingtrolls
      @deadvikingtrolls Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@trevorthomas1030 The carbon fiber would eliminate the flex of the bugout scales. They're the most fun to customize these days due to popularity, you can make it look sooo nice. Were I to pick another benchmade knife I'd probably go barrage 580, they don't use 154CM very often and the ergos look slimmer than some of their other fat scales. But I'd also be tempted to check out a spyderco manix 2 or a ritter hogue before the barrage.

    • @trevorthomas1030
      @trevorthomas1030 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @deadvikingtrolls , I personally like to keep my knifes factory because when I send them in for sharpening they have to be factory for Benchmade to work on them. So, to me, the best-looking Bugout is the Carbon Fiber one.

    • @deadvikingtrolls
      @deadvikingtrolls Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@trevorthomas1030 With the blue spacer? It's nice but if you didn't know you can customize scales, blade finish, colors of hardware and engrave text/images on the blades all from their online custom shop. Thought I'd mention that I keep my 945's what I like to call "factory custom", meaning I buy multiple 945's and mix and match parts. Not that I think this will help me. I'm actually dealing with learning to sharpen on my own but I might end up using a specific set of scales to send in one blade at a time until I'm any good.

    I have a 940 with natural G10. I find the handles slippery. I carry my mini presidio much more often due to this. Feels much better in the hand.

    I got the 940 aluminum scales imo its the best 940 made i love it. You got the numbers wrong ,the aluminum scales with purple back spacer is the 940, not 940-1. And the aluminum scales are extremely grippy almost a rubbery feeling, wet or not. G10 is compressed paper, it will crack under certain conditions, although unlikely.

      Richlite is a paper product G-10 is not, it's glass and heat set resin.

    This version is not in the mainstream catalogue. It’s an obscure version of the BM- 940 not available to to general audiences. The Benchmade 940 with original green aluminum handle is an icon in EDC folding knives. There is no serious debate that the BM-940 is the best on the market.

    You say no springs in there. There’s 2 omega springs. Unfortunately they are prone to breaking. I don’t understand why Benchmade keeps producing knives with this very common problem. And for almost decades

    • @utubetjc
      @utubetjc Před rokem

      I found some omega springs that are better quality than the oem supplied by BM.

      If you're breaking springs, it's probably a clone. Have my 20yr old knife and my new one. Zero problems. They're beat to total crap and fidget with daily.

    benchmade has always had problems with the knife blade especially with grinding it is so thick behind the edge, it is more like a screwdriver not a knife, grinding choil on the 940 is another problem not good! a knife must have the capacity to cut, look at Vosteed raccoon or We knife or Civivi how nice and thin blade they make, Fantastic. Benchmade should make screwdrivers and not knives!

      Yes the basic 940 Osborne has green aluminum scales. Very nice! The 940-1 has cabin fiber scales and the 940-2 has the G-10 scales shown in this video except in black.

      It does all of those things. Maybe not as effortlessly as a Delica 4 in k390, but it will do all of them with ease.
