Get some Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14 n 1...it's a moisturizer. It relieves the itch and keeps the hair conditioned. The stuff is amazing. And grow on!!!
A lot of girls do this with their hair under wigs all the time. I just watched a girl on here documenting how she just took out 6month old cornrows under her wig, it’s a huge community of us. & yes we can go months without our hair being washed and only moisturized bcuz that’s just how our hair can hold up! 💯
@@vee3133 when you type in “6 month old cornrows under wig installation or just 6 month old cornrows” a bunch of channels will pop up of the girls doing it.
When people don’t know what they are talking about. This is how people hair gets long when you leave it Tf alone. It’s regular braids that grown over the time
It’s probably accumulated shedding. Not breakage. You naturally shed about 50-100 hairs a day (If I’m not mistaken) so the longer you keep it in, the more hair you’ll shed because you’re shedding the amount you’d normally shed + the amount you would have been expected to shed for the last 2/3 months
I like the outgrowth too - gives a cool looking style when the parting disappears. It looks like you cornrowed on the surface of your hair instead of down to your scalp 🙌🏼
I’m trying to understand this latest trend. Why are people leaving cornrows in their hair for so many weeks straight with out combing them out? There’s so much shed hair to tangle not to mention the scalp buildup entangled in the hair. It’s stressful on the hair to detangle and comb through that after such a long period. That’s how locs are built except the hair is regularly washed and relocked as it grows. I’m just not understanding this trend.

It’s all about hair retention, research it for yourself
You should be shampooing and deep conditioning your hair at least once a month (even with the cornrows still in), and moisturising your hair every week
I understand the desire for growth and keeping them in is definitely in keeping with that aim. Equally, I think that presentation is important and when you look good you feel good. Do you feel as good with 3_4_5 month cainrows as you do when they're fresh or within 1 month? Just something to consider

U know nothing about hair lol. It only damages your hair when you do it TOO MUCH. It doesnt matter how long you leave it in for, infact it is healthy for your hair because it is a PROTECTIVE STYLE. It helps you grow out your hair.
Wash at least every 3-10 days, the length in between wash day is different for everybody. So find out what your scalp can & cannot handle. And on damp hair use a spray leave in conditioner. Or mix water with a hair moisturizer you like in a spray bottle. To keep it from getting frizzy just wear your scarf/durag after. And you can add a little setting mousse after your leave in if your hair gets really frizzy.
@@youngmal2k682 your hair sheds naturally daily so when you have braids the shed hair stays in the braid until you take it out. Some ppl think “omg I’m losing hair” but that’s just the daily amount you lose all at once

Idk about 5 months. 3 months seems to be the limit for my head any longer and the more breakage I have when I take them out. That’s just me though
It’s probably just shedding rather than pure breakage from a comb
@@DenoTheTruth Yeah you’re right people don’t realise how much your hair naturally sheds
