You always go back a little to give yourself extra time. The optimal trajectory of his dive is right through the attacker, who was bigger than him and blocking him, so he stopped at the last moment

@@Lmuki22 the goal would have gone in regardless, dumvries standing there doesnt change that. He was too late anyway, the ball was in the net before he could dive. So its a goal. Should never be dissallowed.
