Would help if you could record the sound.

Without sound examples, that's not really helping.

Thumping noise with my DW is usually a large pot handle that is protruding too far below the bottom rack so the bottom spinning washer arm is hitting it. Very large pots and pans in general are a huge pain fitting in the DW, so it's often better just to hand wash them anyway for sake of space / energy efficiency.

THANK YOU!!!! I was able to figure out what was wrong with mines! For those asking about sounds use common sense. IF YOUR DISHWASHER IS MAKING SPECIFIC SOUNDS LIKE THE ONES HE MENTIONED LOOK INTO IT OR PAY SOMEONE.

Good Morning, I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher that was super quiet. The intake selanoid valve went out so my handyman replaced it. Now the dishwasher is very loud when it is filling with water. I ordered a "genuine" kitchenaid replacement part. Is it typical that this new part would be less quiet than the original part? Is there an installation technique that reduces noise level? Thank you!

      Yes!!!!
But once he started, I found myself preferring staring at a butt-crack rather than trusting a Steve-O in a cardigan.

My dishwasher worked, sounded fine until I used a dishwasher cleaning tablet and since then it's had a continuous drone except when draining.

Hi Karen. I think that type of sound that you're describing would fall under the "Loud Buzzing Noise" category. In that case, it's most likely a clogged Drain Pump or Wash Pump. Follow the steps that Patrick lays out beginning at 0:54 to inspect your wash pump. Click on the card in the upper right corner for some guidance as to how to replace the pump if it is damaged. I hope this helps, and good luck with your repair!

      Was it the drain pump?
      Will we ever know?

    Where’s a guy with a butt-crack?
I’ve replaced several things already on this washer, the loud humming sound is not from the brand new water inlet that was failed to be mentioned, possibly the drain pump. But that drain pump is attached to the motor, I don’t want to find myself renewing both when only one was needed. Leaves me not trusting a guy in a cardigan, I need butt-crack know how for this.
