That fishy USB drive does deserve an anti-virus scan.
Glad I’m not the only one thinking that…. If a company gives me a USB drive, there’s about a 100% chance it’s just going to get thrown out, I don’t trust it
I was cringing every time he was clicking on the "pdfs" and whatever else was on there...
Glad I was not the only one flipping out about this.
Its only a test pc for the sake of showcasing a product, he definitely doesn’t have anything important on it, plus imagine the usb drive had a ransomware on it, it would have been good content xD
Absolutely love how Dercat makes it very clear that it is HIS desk. He only lets Derbauer borrow it.

the 4th hole would hit the PCB. It's probably safe to assume the PCB is off the shelf, so they couldn't design a hole into it
Yeah, I think that hole would be placed straight in the hdmi connector without bigger PCB redesign. Edit: Or as someone else pointed out in other comment, without relocating the PCB :D
for that kind of price tag they could have made the last screw a fake to complete the look.
@@TheExileFox in reality they should just have found a more elegant solution than screws that stick out like sore thumbs to begin with. The whole thing looks cheap in all the places where they did their own modifications (like the frame, the choice of cables, the mounting solutions, etc).
Looks DIY. This is 2024, stuff like this needs to be flush and neat and work out of the box if you want to compete at a high premium pricetag. It shouldn't be equal to something sleep deprived me would cook up at my work desk at 4am
@@TheExileFox Or honestly, just making the whole display plate clamp into the heatsink without any visible screw. It's 300€.
It saves you from mounting the cooler the wrong way. You can rotate the cooler 180 degrees and still mount the display correctly.
4th screw on display frame is missing because that's where the PCB/USB/HDMI connects are. Could have centered the board and connectors to have a uniform look but why bother? Obviously they thought they would have 4 screws but then realized after that it wasn't possible and too lazy to relocate anything else. The amount of sheer laziness in designing this product is astounding.
The screw hole locations might be like that for the top plate mounting of an off the shelf cooler that they're reusing for this.
It could be so you can mount the cooler backwards. Have the fans blowing toward the front of the case and and turn display to be right side up though since its seen as a display itself could do a flip in gpu settings.
OCD says I'm out
I have a small 3.5" USB-C powered one from Aliexpress on my desk that I got for under $10. This looks like a monstrosity with practically no memory clearance for $300 💀
damn that's a steal

What is it? Yellow PCB ESP32 dev board?
I'd also like to know which one it is!
link the damn screen man :)
It is unfortunate they did not include plastic spacers and longer screws so the display could be mounted further from the heatsinks. This would allow you to adjust the fans for clearance, better airflow, and the RGB LEDs to be seen. It might be worth giving this a try.
Probably no clearance for the glass then. Pooched either way.
@@techluvin7691 That's the issue. I have a Noctua NH-D15 cooler in my enormous Phanteks Enthoo Luxe case and there is less than 1 cm between the fans and the glass. There is some room for an auxiliary display, just not there.
I presume you are into DIY projects.

@@abeidsalim8008 You don't need a screen though. Raw performance at a low price, that's the best thing. :)
I think it counting as a secondary screen will cause a lot of problems honestly
Yeah, your mouse will be going onto it too.... What a gimmicky piece.
It would need to be designed to work independently.
Hi Roman! Can you check if the Aida license is valid which comes with the cooler? I heard it could be a counterfeit or pirate license.
Thank you for the video and the warning.
Also I am always happy to see your orange kitty being happy at your side.
Peaceful Skies.
Ah yeah, I remember seeing a YT Short like "throw away your AIO cooler, install this LCD cooler instead" and I was like "hell no, this looks dumb".
Next, a vertically mounted water cooled gpu with a large ultrawide display panel
that actually sounds kinda cool😂 nothing I would ever use myself but I'd respect seeing it in a build
That's called an AIO 😂
The more complicated something is, the worse the possible failure. They compounded the quality by having multiple bad things instead of just 1
i remember lamptron from the old days with the front mounted Fan controllers
They've obviously fallen a bit since then
The resolution issue on the display is probably because the firmware on the hdmi board is only set up for one resolution, I've seen this with other cheap similar screens from aliexpress etc. To save cost they only bother to set up one resolution that works, and the rest is just neglected. They would have to use more code for it to work properly with other resolutions as well
More code? No. Just not being THIS dense when composing the EDID. Probably a universal scaler on there anyway.
@@SianaGearz Yes, but some seem to require to have the resolutions hard set in the firmware. Seen this at capture cards and upscalers also, some only accept one very specific resolution it won't work at all much like this. EDID metadata from what I know requires a table of resolutions etc. But I am no expert.
5:39 the black cable is CLEARLY overstock from a factory in china or something because Maplin used to be an electronics retailer here in the UK that went bankrupt like 4 years ago or something unless they have stores outside the UK too
EDIT I just googled the brand and although they did go bankrupt and sell their stores they are still operating but are now online only through their own website
You should try to complete a game with that display.
*Sticks USB drive in*
*Lamptron instantly becomes self-aware*
Lamptrons owns your LAN
If they had a 5-10mm diffuse plastic spacer between the heat sink and the screen, the LEDs would be visible and you could have that extra space for clearance for the RAM.
Also, I think the reason they didn't have the 4th screw for the screen is that it would interfere with the PCB. I kinda doubt they designed the screen themselves, or if so, they did a really poor job of it.
I've had lots of fun making my sensor panel work, too. You need the appropriate scaling on your main monitor as well as the mini one - at least I did. Also, you need to install the fonts that go with the profile you are importing as that helps with lining everything up properly in the theme.
Nice I see these all the time on ebay and was curious as there was no reviews. great video
Having problems with Aida scaling. I have windows scaling to 150% and when i import a sensor panel it adjusts to 150% size. Seems its a long standing issue.
You can get a screen like that for 40 euro/usd/gbp and 3D print some bezel/mount easily.
Tho normal person will put a screen somewhere else and not load the cooler.
Regarding the issues some screens have HDMI connector but they actually use DVI over HDMI and newest GPUs might not like it, had some 720p screen like that work with 2080Ti and it didn't with 3090.
I had a similar issue with screen scaling being off on my Jonsbo d31 case that comes with a temperature sensor screen in 1080p. The fix I found was to adjust the display scaling in windows settings between 100 and 125 pct. Their sensor panel always requires me to use Aida64. Just make sure to keep the setting within Aida64 and your monitor at 1080p or exactly the resolution of that monitor. Just change the windows scaling pct between 100 and 125 pct
have you tried setting windows DPI scaling too 100%? As a software engineer I have had trouble with that multiple times
Yea tried all different resolutions and scaling but nothing fit :(
Funny thing is you can make custom resolutions with Nvidia Control Panel, but that is just too advanced to do...
Gotta do a follow-up where you make your own for a fraction of the price.
Excellent work as always. Thank you for doing all of the work for us!
That USB cable - it's Maplin branded. That's a defunct UK PC components store! They went bankrupt. Why is that in there?? xD
They've been gone years lol.
Maybe lamptron bought up excess stock cheaply
i wanna pet the cat
Such a beautiful cat
Thinking about the 4th pre machined hole and looking at the grooves in the heatsink, my assumption is that the display and the fans can be flipped around which would also alleviate the RAM clearance issues.
The 2 halves of the heatsink are the same aswell, all the parts are made symmetrically to make it easier and quicker to put it together.
I'd be curious to see if it looks fine when reversed
Yikes, considering the alternative options out there.
$300 USD can get you a 360mm AIO with a screen that shows stats without needing to take up a display output or doing any setup with AIDA64. Or get a DeepCool cooler/case with a temp readout. Or even one of those off-brand AIDA64 screen panels, and you'd have enough money left over to get an entire computer case.
The heatsink and the fans are the exact same as the JUISHARK JF200 I own, even has the same annoying problem with mounting the center fan. Dissipates about 200w for me just fine. Ended up switching the fans later, only because there was some rattle noise from one of the fans. Seems like this one is rebranded or possibly using the same manufacturer. Edit: Forgot to put that the JF200 is priced between $35 -$65 depending on the shop.
Regarding the front fan not fitting over the ram, could you mount the front fan on the backside of the left tower in a pull configuration? So the middle fan would be the first intake and the second fan would be a pull exhaust? Might help with the memory clearance issue.
Where is everyone keeping their computers that they can read a display inside a case? On your desk? Mine is on the floor under my desk. If I wanted to read anything, I would have to get under the desk.
I keep my PC on my desk. Keeps it cleaner than on the floor and it's by the window so It can get fresh cool air.
The worst place that you can site a PC (in a modern case) is on the floor. Especially if your room is carpeted.
Have you installed the fonts included? Maybe they used one in the presets that's not normally used by any other program that would make your fonts look too big. The overall panel resize though, no idea.
I would not be surprised if one of your sponsors will pick up on this and make it proper. Because I agree with you, that it looks very nice.
I love the concept... Could even be a clip on attachment for a variety of large tower coolers.
I would like to know how is the Aida64 licensed. Is it trial or did they include some license?
You could buy one of those 12v LCD monitors meant for car headrests for £25 and stick it to the top of of a thermalrite macho rt and have a better performing heatsink and better screen for less than £100 .
That fan clip looks very similar to the Noctua ones for the NH-D15, you COULD have mounted the fan to the rear as I have to do on mine to give the ram clearance. 🙄
very very funny video. I love your dry delivery. I also agree with your opinon that it looks amazing and with proper execution of the end product it would be an incredible piece of kit and I would definitely buy one if they fixed all the school boy errors.
Most likely the reason the heatsink has 4 holes is because the fins on either finstack are identical, I think the 4th screw would have to go through the display driver pcb
Was that a Maplin branded usb cable? Maplin being a failed UK high-street retailer. So they're using the cheapest cables they can find
Maybe check with CRU if it has a "TV Resolution" as 1440p in there listed and remove it? I had similar problem with an monitor I had not sure if it applies here though.
Lamptron, what a blast from the past haha
have you tried CRU (custom resolution utility) play around with that see if you can edit the hdmi settings in there
Put it on the CnC and add some slits to the top and bottom front panel so it looks like a grill then you will be able to see the RGB and it should be better for cooling.
Waiting for the day i can play Doom on my air cooler.
Would have liked to see what the cooler looked like without the screen attached. As in how does it look when you can see those leds, while on, that you can't with the screen on.
Hi Roman, is it worth buying MO-RA3 420 in 2024? Or wait for MO-RA4?
Personally I feel like I would rather buy an affordable dual Tower air cooler and a cheap screen and do this myself for a lot less money than this. I would even specifically pick out a case that has a vertical GPU Mount option and mount one that has one extra slot than the provided slots available so that they're then becomes an internal display connector that I can hook the screen into. For $300 the fact that I still have to run a cable outside the computer and the fact that it's literally just a DIY hobbyist project makes no sense to me. Considering that $300 is not exactly chump change I would rather pay for a dedicated screen accessory for existing Tower coolers that is intended to be fully integrated internally into the computer through USB or something like that.
of course the german guy wants to read the manual
I have old TV with the same resolution bug, as in it wants to be bigger reso that it really is, and using it at that results in major overscan.
The fix was to adjust the image borders in the GPU drivers, now the image is clear and fits on screen, and windows is happy with its ~20% bigger resolution LOL
The controller board for the monitor is where the fourth screw would go. It has to be there for teh connectors - they didnt forget the screw, its just a poor design and they couldnt be bothered making a special PCB with a screw hole
I think the best way to have a product that does this but with a more minimalist screen is the Deepcool digital series of coolers and pc cases. I want to get one in the future, a case if I can find one for a good price in my country
Whenever I build a new system, my first look is toward Corsair LPX memory. It's good enough and I've yet to have any cooler conflicts. It sucks to do that but it better than spending $200 on memory I can't use.
Since the monitor is not physically connected to the cooler, you could've mounted with the heatsink only side facing the dimm slots, as there seem to be enough clearance there and your motherboard doesn't have slots on either side of the cpu.
You can make your own version of this with a 60 dollar usb based screen to do the same thing.
I know this is off topic but I have to ask. My 14900k arrived today, and contact frame that I've ordered, but, the one I got is for 12th gen (I didn't even know there were additional iterations). I installed cpu with stock frame just to make sure everything works, and it does, but now I'm curious, should I install this one or try to find appropriate frame for generation of cpu I've got. Is there really that much of a difference between the two?
It's weird because I got an external monitor from some no-name Chinese brand and that was advertised as being 1080p and detected as 1440p as well...
Pretty COOL Cat though!
lonely people love that channel cats !
did you tried to set DPI to default 100 % in windows, not just per aplication? anyway this situation look like quite a poop :D
Derbauer can you review some prolimatech coolers like the genesis? They've made some strange coolers in the past and still produce them today yet they're still really good.
Hey @der8aueren can you do a video on the new regner water cooling case?
I'm not sure if this is the issue you are having with the display scaling but in my experience with AIDA 64 your primary display scaling affects your secondary display scaling when using the sensor panel. Just a thought.
How much cooler weight / torque are motherboards meant to support? Some of these massive, top-heavy air coolers feel like they're going to cause some damage over time.
I've tried mini monitors for displays before, it never works out. This did look really cool though. And the wigidash is on my wishlist, probably another month or two and I'll snag one.
the font!! Maybe that's why the background didn't match up with the sensor text... they did include a bunch of fonts on that usb drive... that might help.... but I still think Windows Video scaling might also be part of it.... I only use windows 10 (no thank you win 11) so I'm not sure how the scaling is done, but I would think it's the same and the default at 4K is 150% ... if so change to 100% and see if that solves the add-on screen issue
I knew something was wrong when I saw that Maplin branded cable. Didn't even bother to get some OEM. Just bought a bunch of cheap ones off Maplin.
I use an internal screen that was £30, it's HDMI and i use Aida sensor panel. Never had a problem.
That was a fun one! Thanks for a great review.
I have an older Lamptron ATIC 300w fan controller.
The controller itself works great but the LED's used on it not so much.
10 LED and 4 quit working with in 2 months.
Is the USB drive NTFS? Did you check the file permissions?
Did you try to use scaling options in Nvidia control panel and set it to "Fit to screen" Scale on Display and turn off allow programs to change scaling.
(This lets you fit 4K into a 1080P Screen so should work)
Lamptron does have some unique hardware. Loved their fan controllers and also their hardware display monitor that I bought some years ago is decent. The issue is they're very shady with the software part.
First of all, like you, I got the USB Stick and it was corrupted. All of it was corrupted, not only the manual, so not even AIDA worked out of the box. Had to contact them to give me all the software needed.
Second: They are using shady software keys for AIDA. The version they gave me (AIDA Business) couldn't be updated officially (serial was invalid when contacting AIDA server to update) and when I contacted AIDA support they told me Lamptron is not using legitimate keys and they cut ties with them a while back. Don't know if they are collaborating again, but I doubt it.
Third: Their support is so bad, as they don't speak English very well. Also, they wouldn't give me a legitimate key for AIDA Business. Eventually they gave me a working serial for AIDA Extreme, but I have doubts it's genuine.
The 4th screw would have to go through the HDMI port, by the looks of its location.
$300 and it has lazy-ass screws on the top where the display is? They could have easily source flush-mount allen screws and countersunk the holes so it didn't look like a high school project.
That USB drive is a malware nest, to me... Don't even bother plugging this in your computer, unless you want to end on some random FBi wishlist...
The best thing about this product is that we got a video with Shiek in it.
Roman has the same monitor as me, why it it showing as 60Hz on your desktop thou?
Did you adjust WINDOWS SCALING??????
I have to set mine to AT LEAST 150% for me to be able to read anything, see icons, or ever the start button/taskbar because they are TOO SMALL at 100% and Windows BY DEFAULT goes to 150% (but I change it to 175% ) ....
If you didn't change this then I'm sure that's the issue
A CPU cooler needs to do just 1 thing.
COOL THE CPU.
Everything else is useless.
Why do they not make the heatsink higher up so you can use 90% of all memory modules?
Maybe do a video on that?
The presets are prolly bugged because of missing fonts. i could be mistaken. there were a bunch of font files on that usb drive too which you showed.
It looks like they didn't use fourth screw as it would be too close to the logo which they wanted to have in the middle. Interesting design choice.
Maybe there is a different plate for the top of the cooler (instad of thescreen), with the rgb leds shining through it. And they were lazy to take the leds off
You need the proper fonts already installed on your PC prior to opening the sensor panel. Also, windows scaling should be set to 100%. And as you showed, change DPI setting to System. That gives best chance of panel displaying properly. Also, the resolution of the primary monitor when panel was created is a factor as well. Example: Panel was created on a system that had a 4K monitor as primary. Then import that same sensor panel on the same display, but using a 1440 monitor as primary, scaling most likely will be out. Aida64 doesnt automatically scale sensor panels. When scaling is out, sensors will still be relative to one another. You need to move them.
Since you weren't able to get the instructions to work, is it possible that it was meant to be operated with the two USB interfaces, and the HDMI was just a coincidental feature? I mean maybe the screen wasn't originally designed to be just a CPU cooler display. Does your board have onboard graphics? Maybe, it could be run off of that, so that you aren't giving more work to your main graphics card. One of the USB cables probably adds touchscreen capability. The cooler reminds me of my AK620. With that cooler, you're able to move the fan to the other side, so that it's not above the memory modules at all. It's an interesting idea, but it seems a bit overcomplicated.
There is no hole in the controlboard for the display so they skipped the hole in the besel as well. Good thing so nobody tries stuffing a screw onto the pcb...
lol this is hilarious 😂 also you will have bad ram temps with this cooler blocking almost all chance of airflow going over your dimms. This will also maybe even impact vrm temps blocking air too. I love lcd’s and rgb when done right. I agree the hdmi displays are extremely dated and usually tricky. I would love to find a nice clean usb c only display that’s got its own software or that can run via Aida.
Lastly I have been thinking about pre ordering the direct die ekwb aio or either lapping and polishing my 14900k and avoiding the delid. I already lapped my strix aio cold plate from my prior 12900k being lapped. Since my 14900k isn’t lapped yet I’m seeing temps above 90c during rendering workloads. Would lapping drop those enough to matter or should I just delid it ? I have one of your lapping tools btw and it’s been amazing on the ones I’ve done for myself and others. ❤ thanks man you are the goat 🐐 keep it up.
the AD video is old, since their auction server are not anymore at 29€ but more 35-38
I like RGB and LCD as much as the next guy, but for the love of God these companies need to stop making it the focus over performance and functionality. Literally _NO ONE_ spends their time on the PC gazing into their case going "Ooooooooh...." Not to mention at this price you could literally mount a separate display against the glass of the PC case, have it be far larger, and still have $200 left over. This TikToK "look at me" shit's getting out of hand.
Of course, it is too expensive and has flaws, only in this case with parameters in black color it is very nice, whoever starts making similar refrigerators and fixes the flaws, lowers the price, will have good sales. And I completely agree, the idea is very good.
Doesn't the Lamptron monitor default to 125% DPI scaling?
I swear that looks like a rebadge DeepCool - maybe AK620? (edit - yeah its the AK620, even has the same screw holes for the AK620 digital)
The 4th hole is if your configuration requires it to be mounted 180 degrees off from the way you have it.
Good idea, but holes are not center oriented.
@@p0k314COM Willing to bet that it is exactly how I said. Take the cooler off turn it 180 degrees. then take the screen off and turn it 180 degrees and the extra hole is now one of the hole a screw goes in and in turn one of the previously used holes will be empty!
Almost looks like need to put the one fan on the back or mount it backwards to get clearance for ram.
You could get a 50$ cooler and a big lcd panel or old monitor that covers entire case and mount it on side acrylic cover and still save some money😃
