I’d love to see some building tutorials for castles or like some realistic house builds. No one is doing it. They only do speed builds which are annoying to follow.

I tried building castle structures from the beginning and they usually ended up looking descent but design and placement was an afterthought. Then I began noticing the large floor plan big box style that a lot of people used and I liked the uncluttered look of an open floor plan so I built a large box and added 5 triangle pieces to each corner and built a tower at each corner. I noticed that large castles start with a central structure and then the walls were built out from that structure so I did that hugging the terrain to give it a more organic real world look. All the towers on the main structure being the same as the ones placed on my walls. What I wound up with was a really cool looking castle that was functional as well . If you build using the third tier brick pieces in the cold area around the ravaged barrows the effect of the foggy, cloudy weather really makes the structure look and feel like a real castle and it looks imposing even at a distance the way you would expect it to look in RL. The only problem with terrain hugging is that there’s no way to make the walls come around full circle because the blocks will be mismatched when they meet so you have to utilize the terrain somehow
Castles can be particularly hard to build because you can't just slap one up and expect it to work. Much like in real life, there are a lot of considerations that are taken into account when planning and building a castle, at least to make it look convincing. Regarding the walls not coming full circle, that's usually because wedge pieces are throwing off the grid of the walls. You can avoid this by using natural barriers as pseudo-walls, for example a cliff-side or the wall of a cliff would suit, or by getting them as close as possible to the front-facing wall and connect them with an item that bridges the gap, such as maybe one of the wooden paths from the AOC mod (I think its from that). Castles are fun, but not easy
I'm planning on making a Set/ Yog monument (Their tenants are very similar). It would be a pyramid with jagged towers on the edges, and have a flat top that the Set worshipping/ sacrificial chamber would be. In front of the pyramid would be a large wooden longhouse with a Yog monument in front of it, surrounded by cages and skulls on pikes.
@@StylesEste Only just seen this comment somehow 😂 Yes and no. Frontier and Yamatai stairs that have tall rails work as rails, but Turanian, Khitan etc that just have the small ankle-height rails don't, you can still fall off them

"Throwing rooms in a build and hope it works" is definitely my bad habit. 😂 I always focus on the exterior design and totally forget to corridor my base off first 🤦I literally spend hours tryna make rooms work bcus I built the while base first and then end up with a damn maze in my builds. REALLY NEED TO FOCUS ON CORRIDORS
Imo the overhanging roof you made doesn't look great. Id suggest using Awnings for the sides myself. As for the front... its a bit of a challenge, but I dont think making it a block out is the solution. Love your builds and tips for the most part though!
Yeah the overhanging roof is hit or miss with certain builds, it all depends on personal preference. Glad you found the tips helpful though! I think there are even more helpful ones in Building Tips 2, 3 and 4
Box houses are a really good starting point since you can easily build it up for example I started with a box style to start with and I added an awning an it’s going to have a second floor balcony and I’m thinking about adding a semi wrap around porch and moving the awning out a bit

I know how to build the shell, but I always end up with a hall and rooms off to the side, it works but I'm looking for ideas to make it look interesting on the inside. I did a pyramid over the Oasis in Exiles near the Sand Reapers. Nice spot and fish access from inside.
Greag tips, just started playing yesterday with a couple friends, and I'm charge of making the house look good while they enslave people... these tips will come in handy! 😅 Though, the crafting time and ressources needed just for a hanging roof is gonna be scary 😔
As you mentioned scandinavian architecture you should look at swedish designs from the 50s and 60s. It's all square boxes with no decoration what so ever. Called "funkis" as it's just made for function.
They should give us a slanted pillar piece that can snap onto roof tiles neatly. Tbh I hate overhanging roofs in most conan builds. They come out so boxy.
6th Tip: Choose the building style that better fits the environment. Building on the desert in a woody nordic style, and viceversa, is not the best solution... not mentioning aesthetics but rather... they scream aloud "Attack me, I'm right here!" I haven't find any useful tip here but, anyway, finding tips is always nice and videos like this may come handy for many people very new to building {I built in Fallout 4 for several years by now and on Second Life for far over a decade by now}, kudos to @Eradicati0n for doing these.
In this Video the Builder placed ceiling panels under the over hanging roof. I have found that if you DON'T do this it makes it harder to climb on to the roof. I could be wrong though I have tried both methods and found that I had a lot of problems with the sharpness of the "un-ceilinged" roof over hang. I like a Thatched roof and we all know that it is the weakest building piece. With the front part of the Build, I actually continue the side roof over hang around the corner, using normal corner pieces. I then leave the top bit of the front just a stand wall.
Rob Roy if your concern is people getting on the roof, use crenulated walls or fences. These aesthetic tips aren’t really for a pvp situation. Of course they CAN be, if implemented right. Either way, you can climb onto the roof regardless of the ceiling or not. It might be tricky but very much do-able.
Roofs are the trickiest part for any builder. The more you build, though, the easier it gets, I am better at them than I used to be, by far. I have a lot of learning to do, still.
Man it's just so ridiculous grinding out the mats to make anything other than sandstone. I might have to up the resource gather rate on my server because I'm farming mats more than anything else in this game and I never seem to have enough.

@Eradicati0n how are you in the zoomed out mode? not on the ground with your character? is there a building mode i can use to play around without having to waste resources on a pvp server?
I use Admin Mode so I can use the Fly command to fly around and place stuff. You can do the same in single player mode. though flying isn't practical for PvE mode. It does help you to understand the fundamentals of building though
Had a play around today built a nice cottage its quite difficult to get used to how the shapes work really appreciate your builds there so good and you make it look easy!
2:47 Yeah!! And that is absolutely not ok. They are aware of this too, they put orientation lines onto the frontier pack but there are still a few that you just can't see what your doing with. Annoyes the he'll out of me. Seems like a simple fix and these packs are pricey.
To start actually building, the first thing you'll want to to is open your "feats" menu, which contains unlockable crafting recipes. You get a certain amount of feat points per level that you can spend. You can use your feats to unlock the "Sandstone" recipes, which will allow you to start to build your first house. You craft them in your inventory, and when you highlight the piece you want to build it'll tell you how much wood and stone you need per piece :)
I think the hardest part of building for me so far has been making roofs. They angle weird as shit sometimes and might not even turn around if you rotate them. Also some sections of roof related building feats are separated between two different sections for some stupid reason. Do you have any tips for building a circular rooftop that would cap-off the top of a tower? (I’m currently just using sandstone and thatch since I’m in the booga booga age.)
Roofs are usually the hardest part, depending on what you've built. If you know how to build a circular foundation, its the same with the roof, just with regular and inverted wedge roof pieces above the wedges you used in the foundation, and regular sloped roofs atop the squares As for overall getting better with roofs, an easier way is to divide your build up into smaller roofs, preferably of different heights. I've done that in a few recent builds and it looks miles better
@@dharmeshmistry342 Aye it definitely helps for planning stuff out. You could do it in Survival by just building a small staircase then tearing it down afterwards :)
PvE builders: You might want to look at Scandinavian architectural design to get inspiration for build shapes PvP builders: Haha pillar box go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr
how about a guide on using less Foundations? on big servers excessive use of foundations do make it more laggy ;-) not meant as a complaint at you using only foundations as base btw :P
Funny you should mention that, as I've just started using fence foundations properly. I'm not sure how well it would fit into a guide though. It could fit into another Building Tips video, but I feel like a guide for just cutting down on server lag would just be me saying "use fence foundations" over and over again 😂

I’m having a issue I’m fairly new to Conan exiles however I’ve played games such as ark survival and others like it..I’ve built me a nice house but can’t stop it from raining inside of it..I’ve done all I’ve could thinking it was a spacing issue but I have no idea at this point
It's just a visual glitch related to the engine, the same glitch used to happen in Ark. If you're on PC, there is a mod that will fix it, but if you're on console you'll just have to get used to it. It won't affect anything, it'll just look wet inside
Just using the "Fly" command in admin mode. Its to make life easier, otherwise half of the video would be me trying to find the perfect position to stand in so I could place the final roof tile haha
If you're in admin mode on PC, its shift + delete. However, if you're not on PC or you're not an admin, hold the interact button on the controller and select "dismantle"

Well I've got a video going up today, then I've got to allocate all the builds for next month. I'm not 100% sure what is next as of yet, its probably going to be a Yamatai Fortress, then I've got some more builds to allocate spots for.
I deleted this nice and awesome game just for the fact that devs delete your hard work and make your time spend seems useless, as they delete your whole creations slaves and everything after a couple days of inactivity, for that reason i find it waste of time to even pick up the controller and play the game.
Scroll wheel on PC, or the relevant button for console. The bind for changing orientation is shown in the bottom-right of your screen whenever you're building
It'd be more realistic to the base game but not practical in terms of video making, especially when you're checking things like reverse grain etc. I can see why some people wouldn't like it though
Create shortest character possible then using the vault drop exploit drop stack a perimeter of vaults 2 high find a ditch spot near flat land drop the vault over that ditch spot just enough heights your short guy can go under crouching tall people can’t go through ,just enough foundations too place vault underneath make sure ceiling is along ditch spot obviously vault drop vaults for a roof then your completely enclosed in by vaults and haft too be short enough too enter the fox hole and there’s your golden idea fam haha see if it works
Yea but if ypur playing official servers and have to actually put a ton of work into making the pieces its hard to just waste pieces trying to figure out a good build.

I'd definitely recommend knocking up the resource rate, a lot of unofficial servers have increased rates just to reduce that insane grind

Pretty houses. Not for pvp servers. Those things attract those solo weekend midnight raiders.

pretty much. Sometimes there is the purge, or depending on location potential mobs that could destroy the building (unlikely).

Can you start with how to build? I don't see any options to build anything.
To start actually building, the first thing you'll want to to is open your "feats" menu, which contains unlockable crafting recipes. You get a certain amount of feat points per level that you can spend. You can use your feats to unlock the "Sandstone" recipes, which will allow you to start to build your first house. You craft them in your inventory, and when you highlight the piece you want to build it'll tell you how much wood and stone you need per piece :)

How do you remove a panel you didnt notice would be in the way???
I think the hardest part of building for me so far has been making roofs. They angle weird as shit sometimes and might not even turn around if you rotate them. Also some sections of roof related building feats are separated between two different sections for some stupid reason. Do you have any tips for building a circular rooftop that would cap-off the top of a tower? (I’m currently just using sandstone and thatch since I’m in the booga booga age.)
Roofs are usually the hardest part, depending on what you've built. If you know how to build a circular foundation, its the same with the roof, just with regular and inverted wedge roof pieces above the wedges you used in the foundation, and regular sloped roofs atop the squares
As for overall getting better with roofs, an easier way is to divide your build up into smaller roofs, preferably of different heights. I've done that in a few recent builds and it looks miles better

PvE builders: You might want to look at Scandinavian architectural design to get inspiration for build shapes

how about a guide on using less Foundations? on big servers excessive use of foundations do make it more laggy ;-) not meant as a complaint at you using only foundations as base btw :P
Funny you should mention that, as I've just started using fence foundations properly. I'm not sure how well it would fit into a guide though. It could fit into another Building Tips video, but I feel like a guide for just cutting down on server lag would just be me saying "use fence foundations" over and over again 😂

Enable Admin mode through the Server Settings panel, then either press Tilde and type "fly", or open the admin panel and toggle Fly on :)

I’m having a issue I’m fairly new to Conan exiles however I’ve played games such as ark survival and others like it..I’ve built me a nice house but can’t stop it from raining inside of it..I’ve done all I’ve could thinking it was a spacing issue but I have no idea at this point
It's just a visual glitch related to the engine, the same glitch used to happen in Ark. If you're on PC, there is a mod that will fix it, but if you're on console you'll just have to get used to it. It won't affect anything, it'll just look wet inside
How do you build top down like that? Always I must build right close to my person.
Just using the "Fly" command in admin mode. Its to make life easier, otherwise half of the video would be me trying to find the perfect position to stand in so I could place the final roof tile haha

I use pillars, and climb atop my structure to get a birds eye view. Pillars to get height

how do you delete foundations?
If you're in admin mode on PC, its shift + delete. However, if you're not on PC or you're not an admin, hold the interact button on the controller and select "dismantle"
Wait, how do you zoom out like that? Camera follows my character closely even when building.
What zoom out the camera behind the character in third person? If so, on PC you just use the scroll wheel. Not sure about Console

Well I've got a video going up today, then I've got to allocate all the builds for next month. I'm not 100% sure what is next as of yet, its probably going to be a Yamatai Fortress, then I've got some more builds to allocate spots for.

I deleted this nice and awesome game just for the fact that devs delete your hard work and make your time spend seems useless, as they delete your whole creations slaves and everything after a couple days of inactivity, for that reason i find it waste of time to even pick up the controller and play the game.
You didn't actually tell us how to change the orientation of the building pieces. "Here's what you should do, but I won't tell yu how."
Scroll wheel on PC, or the relevant button for console. The bind for changing orientation is shown in the bottom-right of your screen whenever you're building

It'd be more realistic to the base game but not practical in terms of video making, especially when you're checking things like reverse grain etc. I can see why some people wouldn't like it though

Create shortest character possible then using the vault drop exploit drop stack a perimeter of vaults 2 high find a ditch spot near flat land drop the vault over that ditch spot just enough heights your short guy can go under crouching tall people can’t go through ,just enough foundations too place vault underneath make sure ceiling is along ditch spot obviously vault drop vaults for a roof then your completely enclosed in by vaults and haft too be short enough too enter the fox hole and there’s your golden idea fam haha see if it works

Basic building stuff in my opinion. Still a nice video tho.

I understand monetisation but this video is essentially spam and will be disliked and reported as such.
Punctuating videos with intrusive adverts is ruining this platform.
I selected three midrolls on this video. One at 2:30ish, one at 4:40ish, and the other at around 7:30. CZcams also defaults to allowing an ad before each video, though the option for post-roll ads is off. If it was up to me I'd never include ads, but smaller CZcamsrs need to sometimes balance their own vision for their content with y'know, the need to support themselves.
I'm sorry you don't like it, and feel free to dislike, but to accuse it of being spam is deliberately mis-representing the content. You're the only person out of over 115,000 to think that, and youtube viewers aren't shy about voicing their disapproval.
