  • Vientiane, Laos' national capital, mixes French-colonial architecture with Buddhist temples such as the golden, 16th-century Pha That Luang, which is a national symbol. Along broad boulevards and tree-lined streets are many notable shrines including Wat Si Saket, which features thousands of Buddha images, and Wat Si Muang, built atop a Hindu shrine

Build a brand and make it bigger...Watch what they said about Deon Sanders when he went from an HBCU(Historically Black College to Colorado) They called him a sellout, but what he wanted was an opportunity for others, to be great but he could not be great in Jackson State(HBCU-Historically black college) ....! Think about that? We have to expand...However how many black people are on his staff tho?

The big statue: Chao Anouvong was king in Laos. He is honored for fighting for the Lao identity from the Thai (Siam) kingdom. The red flag among the Lao flags is the USSR flag. Communism came to Lao in 1975 due to some help from the USSR and that's why you see that flag in many places in Lao. I lived in Vientiane from 1959 to 1974, just before the fall of democratic/kingdom into a communist state. You were by the Mekong river and you kept turning left and ended up at the Lane Xang boulevard. You walked by what used to be considered the "royal" temple called Ho Phra Keo (glass or jade buddha). Then you saw the presidential palace (used to be the royal palace). The Arc de Triumph at the other end of the road is the Patusay. The tuk tuk driver showed you his tour pictures. This is one of them. Patusay is located at a park that's nice to take pics. On the other side of the circular street (roundabout), you can find some street food. Before getting to Patusay, on the left you'll find the Lycee de Vientiane, a high school taught in French. I went there. Back at the river, at night, is the night market where they sell everything and there'll be a lot of people. As you walked by the buddhist pagodas, the little steeples near the fence are where people's ashes buried, like a cemetery.

i am from Tagum and Davao is just an Hour to drive .excuse me DAVAO CITY is far far more progressive and DEVELOPED Compare to Vietiane. imagine DAVAO CITY alone has $12 billions GDP nominal. with good infrastructure, worldclass healthcare system, Large land area at 2,444 sq. km. good transportations with alot of highrise buildings compare to vientiane which empty looks like a suburb village of DAVAO. vientiane only $5 billions gdp nominal while Laos as a whole only $15 billions. Laos with the S is the country. The Lao people and Lao food don't need the S. So pretty much the things of Lao culture. Most conversation will have no S since you're not talking about the country haha. It's confusing but sometimes while talking about the country the S is silent as well so translating back and forth between Lao, French, English the S gets confused.

Thus, if a woman needs to pass something to a monk, it is best to give it to a male to then pass forward. Alternatively, she can place it on a surface to allow a monk to grab the object. Women shouldn't be right next to them at all time

King Anouvong is not a democracy. Monk said wrong but is the declaration of independence to Siam (Thailand ) but went directly to Vietnam later and was later suppressed by the Siam.
At that time, Laos was divided into 3 kingdoms but under the rule of Siam.
And was occupied by France along with Cambodia that used to be of Siam

There’s a difference between Lao and Laos. The “S” is there for a reason, not a silent S. If you ask a Lao person, she will tell you that the country is called Lao because that how they call the country. There is a lot of confusion about this. The majority of Laotians don’t know the word Laos.

Africantigress, please look up yellow fever and the countries that are being monitored closely. Kenya is on the list. I think this might be the reason why they questioned you. Btw, are you planning to visit Singapore soon?

They usually live deep in the forest and have no contact with outsiders. So they couldn't read. Can't write Thai But later, the tribal leader saw that In any case, there must be no escape from prosperity. Therefore sent the first set of children to study. The first 4 were all girls.
