A helical spring is produced by cold winding a wire around a cylindrical mandrel. The wire has a square cross section 3 x3 mm and the coil mean diameter = 30 mm, wire material is assumed to be elastic-perfectly plastic having Y= 60 kp/mm², S= 2 x 10¹ kp/mm². taking elastic recovery into consideration determine the diameter of the mandrel which gives the specified coil diameter .
