- Is it safe to live in Surrey BC or not? A lot of people seem to ask that question, so in this video, I’m going to be giving you the truth about whether it is or isn’t safe to live in this city… Long story short, certain parts of the city aren’t great to live in, but in other areas are great! So it ultimately depends on where you’re staying.
Certain parts of Whalley and Newton, you’re going to want to stay out of. In those areas, you’ll tend to see a lot of petty crimes, gang violence, drugs, homeless people, carjackings, shootings, fighting, and much more. Whalley is known for it more than Newton. But in Newton and Queens Mary Park you’ll still see prostitution and things of that nature in certain pockets of those neighbourhoods, so it isn’t like those areas are any better either.
Now, all of this isn’t to say Surrey doesn’t have any safe neighbourhoods to live, because it does. Fraser Heights, Panorama Ridge, South Surrey, and Fleetwood are great neighbourhoods to raise a family. But to most people that still doesn’t make up for the fact that Surrey as a whole, ranks as one of the most crime-riddled areas to live in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
I mean, when comparing Surrey to Vancouver, Surrey BC is way worse its terms of crime. The thing about Vancouver is it’s a huge city, because of that you’re going to have some crime in the area. In Surrey though, the main reason for most of the crime there is generally the demographic of people that live in the area and the poverty rate.
As a whole, the city of Surrey is a beautiful place, but if I were to ask myself, is it safe to live in Surrey BC. My answer would be a flat-out no. But to get a more detailed reason for why that is my answer, watch the full video.

I Am 60 Years Old An I say in My Wisdom and Knowledge "Surrey was Good to live in 40 Years Ago"But now its a Millionaires Dream .....and a Working Class Nightmare of Hard Life Struggles...then there is the lower Class that sometimes resort toCrime....
i live in fleetwood and it's ao safe here i do my night walks and have not once been attacked or approached

you have tried your best and for that I thank you. Voice quality is not so great.planning to move to surrey but after watching your crime report, I am quite shocked and I'll rethink of moving there
Thanks for the comment. Hopefully, this doesn't scare you away from moving here. But as I said in the video the crime rate is much higher here than the rest of the Lower Mainland. So if safety is your main priority when looking for an area to move, then yes Surrey isn't the place for you.
Do Indo Canadians really not like Caucasians? I've lived in a beautiful tree filled area of Newton for 20 years and in the last few years we've had a huge influx of Indo Canadians, many of them Sikh. Most the trees are gone now and where there was 1 house there are now 6. Each with 2 or three basement units. I didn't like the changes of the lost nature and wildlife and all the new litter but what can I do? I read about my new neighbours trying to understand but what I read is so far from my experience.
Just tonight 2 Sikh men ignored me when I asked them not to walk close to my dogs and I because my dog is too strong for me and was abused by people of their coloring. So, of course Daisy pulled me down. It was on a very dark blind corner and neither man asked if I was okay or tried to help me in any way. They did however yell at me to controlling themy dog.
All this is to ask, should I just give up? My smiles and hellos are met with blank stares. Any advice would be most apprecitaed. I found you while looking for answers.

maybe they are just socially awkward or introverted like me... or if they are new immigrants, too conscious about their accent or language and feel intimidated to interact with the neighbours... we indian's are known for our whole hearted humble smiles but we are definitely not known for being expressive of our insecurities. so, it's upto you if you wanna pursue or not... if you come with peace and love there's only little that can go wrong. as long as you feel comfortable you do you... but if you get any bad vibes.. just live and let live... simple.
Live In North Surrey and just don't see it. I have lived in Toronto and compare to what is here....I just don't feel unsafe.
I dont see any crime in Surrey. Surrey is the best place to live.
