CM stands COMPUTER
What is the difference between ECE and ECM with respect to subjects, job profile and foreign opportunities?
Subjects:
ECE→ Electronics and Communication Engineering so, ECE focuses on Communication as well. You will have a lot of subjects like Antenna and wave propagation.
ECM→ Electronics and Computer Engineering so, it focuses on Electronics as well as Computer Science. You will study most of the subjects from Computer Science as well as Electronics. There will be extra focus of Embedded Systems.
Job Profile:
To be honest, most engineers will end up joining IT companies irrespective of their branch. So, this question is largely irrelevant. However, students from ECM have an inherent advantage in terms of coding. Since students from ECM have computer science subjects, they end up doing well in placement drives of IT companies. In fact, in my college ECM(my branch) has the highest number of job offers and placements beating even CSE and IT.
Foreign Opportunities:
ECM-> Most universities abroad have this branch. So, ECM has decent opportunities.
ECE→ Even they have good opportunities.
