    I love SunSoft, they were so unbelievably good when they were on the top of their game.
    It's sad they aren't prominent anymore, but I'm happier with what happened to SunSoft then what happened with Konami.
    My 2 biggest SunSoft memories are Blaster Master from the NES, and the final fantasy Legend 1-3 and Final Fantasy Adventure which of course were Squaresoft releases, but Sunsoft handled the rerelease down the road and I had 3 of the rereleases.
    As a kid I always though Square and SunSoft were somehow related because of the shared Final Fantasy games, and the similar name SquareSoft SunSoft.

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před 5 dny +1

      I can totally see thinking they were linked together that way given that they handled those releases! Also yeah I loved Blaster Master as a kid harrd as nails but sooooo coool!!!! Good to see you btw man!

    Cool video.. Blaster Master will always be a favorite of mine. Loved the Blue Brothers song in Spy Hunter growing up... Also Sunsoft is currently licensing collections on the Evercade.

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před 5 dny +1

      yeah I saw one of the collections drop with Blaster master but missing pretty much all the cool licensed games, not trhat its a big surprise given they likely didn't have any of the rights anymore. Its still great they are getting some of their stuff out somewhere and amazing for Evercade collectors!

  • @zombiejlt1

    I would welcome a SUNSOFT collection with either its best sellers or every game in the collection I'd be fine with either. BLASTER MASTER< FESTER'S QUEST, BATMAN, GREMLINS 2, JOURNEY TO SILIUS would be all that I need honestly but I would also welcome update graphics for these releases if possible similar to the Atari collection where you could play original and update versions of the games. Regardless of the games, you can also say SUNSOFT delivers on soundtracks. Well done!

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před 5 dny +1

      yeah man a collection with those would be amazing!!! They did drop some games on the Evercade but it mostly had a lot of their non licensed stuff with the most notable being Blaster master which alone for a cart copy would be enough to pick it up honestly! I'd like to see them come back in a big way a ducktales style rreemake of Batman or Gremlins or even Festers Quest could be dope!

    Blaster Master has always been my favourite game of all time, and that got me into other Sunsoft games as well. And i can say i just adore pretty much everything they put out.
    The single thing i like the most about their games is the music. They have such an unique sound and all the tracks are absolute bangers.
    I'm glad Blaster Master Zero has been able to carry the legacy of the original game

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před 3 dny

      I agree pretty much every game of theirs I've played has a soundtrack that just nails the scene so well that it becomes impossible not to have the volume up while playing you feel like your missing out on way to much! Yeah I'm glad someone managed to keep blaster master going I'd love to see some of their licensed games get a remaster or at least a re release in a collection of some sort! Thanks for hanging out btw!

    Thanks for the sunsoft overview, Geeks! I too can’t stand how Wiiware games are not released on other platforms. I might have bought the blaster master for Wiiware
    Journey to Silius is awesome! Would love to see a remaster of that game. Batman too! I know a new blaster master has been out, so that’s cool
    I could imagine it being hard in the video-game business. Wonder why they invested into a golf course

    My only biggest Sunsoft memories are Batman: The Video Game from the NES. They also had resurfaced with rereleases of Game Boy titles such as The Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 and Final Fantasy Adventure, which were Squaresoft releases, Aerostar and Daedalian Opus, which were a Vic Tokai release, Burger Time Deluxe, Lock N' Chase, Side Pocket, and Tumblepop, which were Data East titles, Darkwing Duck, Talespin and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which were Capcom releases, and Turrican, which was a Accolade release, but Sunsoft handled all the rereleases down that road.

    I think you missed some important points for the return of Sunsoft. Ufouria and Gimmick being rereleased on the Switch along with a brand new sequel to Ufouria which was recently released. Plus a few days ago they announced a sequel to Gimmick. There is also a new Ikki game which is an online multiplayer game. They have been making videos featuring their IP on youtube (in Japanese). I think a lot is happening with the company now.

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před 3 dny

      I appreciate the incite i didnt find that while i was looking. May i ask is any of that being released outside of japan? That could have been why it wss missing i dont rrslly find a lot of japanese media sitees when im lookong and mostly stick to what makes it outside of japan or gets translated in some manner. So if they kept themselves focused on that market it would explain in some small part why i found nothing there. Im happy to know it now though thank you!

      @@geekstorian Everything I mentioned is available in English on a number of platforms. Certainly not Japanese only but these franchises had limited releases outside of Japan back in the day (although they are widely known in the retro community nowadays). The golf course thing is wild, but to be fair the Sunsoft 16bit games were nowhere near the quality of the 8bit nes/famicom stuff, so I’m sure lagging sales did contribute somewhat.

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před dnem

      I'd argue they had some good 16 bit ones and later on but they weren't as well known in the 16 era as in the 8 bit for sure! Thanks for coming by and spending some time on the channel!

  • @AndSaveAsManyAsYouCan

    I LOOOVED Blaster Master as a kid, although I never could beat the level 5 boss. I got close multiple times, but I never had any gun power ups when I reached him.
    Batman was good. I rented it a time or two. Never beat the Joker though.
    Spy Hunter was pretty decent.
    Fire Power 2000 on SNES was an hidden gem.
    I forget who released Spy Hunter on the PS2, but they did a good job on it. Tough as nails to complete all the goals, but worth it for the rewards. Plus, it introduced me to the band Saliva, their Every Six Seconds album is still one of my favorites.

    • @geekstorian
      @geekstorian  Před 3 dny

      yeah I only managed to beat Batman through save states it was so hard to get to the top of the tower that I got there once beat the first boss got there a few more times and couldn't be joker but it was taking soooo many tries to get there I put a save state outside the door and kept trying from there till I dropped him so it was a win with a very heavy Astrick behind it! As to Blaster Master I never beat that one and I never even played fire power 2000 that one sounds interesting! Thanks for hanging out btw.!
