Doing 20% of a project over two years and then 80% in six days is the most beautifully adhd thing I have ever heard
This was my exact thought, when he mentioned a small amount of medication, I immediately went to "ohhh, ADHD meds I bet".
Resonated a lot because I just had the same transformation.

@@derpedfox I was diagnosed a few months ago, at 35. It has helped. I can understand who I am, how I am, why I am the way I am. I'm not on medication yet because of some unrelated health concerns, but I really look forward to finding a bit of calm. It's worth at least knowing if you have it.

I actually started crying at the end of this video. Not a little cry, but big ugly tears, because I was so proud of Kevin for finishing his project đ .
Most of the time, I feel totally paralysed by all the things I need to do. And there's just far, far too many piles of resources around my house for projects I just HAD to do, but ran out of steam before I actually started them (or right after). My own mental health journey has a bit further to go, my ADHD cocktail still needing tweaking, but I think tomorrow I shall try and finish something. It might not be the whole bathroom reno, the new curtains, the replacement flooring for my living room, the infinite amount of painting, the cupboard lining, or even the 30 odd decorations I bought for my walls... but, something. And if that goes ok, I'll try another.
Thanks for hanging with me Kevin, creating content these last couple years, even when it was hard for you. Thank you for making me laugh when I was low, and motivating me to try when I didn't see a point. I'm not one of those people that get muddy up parasocial relationships, I don't assume I know you or understand anything beyond what you explain. But what you create feels positive, honest, friendly, and weirdly wholesome đ . And you've had a profound impact on myself, and countless others.

im in the same boat as you...i have so many things to fix. and the wind is making even more work for me. you feel weak and have no energy to do anything and end up doing nothing all day other then youtube and fkin league. perhaps ill get up and do something right now...and when i come back ill finish the video perhaps i wont...who knows.
Kevin, I've always loved your non-video game videos (like Baking Bad) because they really allow your physical comedy to shine. This video was unexpected, delightful, hilarious, and wholesome all at the same time. I'm amazed you've been documenting this for two years!

I know I'm echoing a lot of people here, but this video really shows the ways ADHD can affect a project. The way you describe certain tasks as fun and not fun, the way the project became the only thing that was important to you for different lengths of time and vice versa- all of these things felt so relatable as someone who has dealt with ADHD their whole life.
Most importantly, this project and video of yours and your team is unbelievably, uniquely, uproariously inspirational. I always seem to have 2-5 projects going on in some capacity and another 3 or so in my brain ready to be started. But Kevin, you fecking finished this one! Not only that, but you pursued it even after you experienced a significant loss of interest in it. If I were you I would consider that an accomplishment comparable to building the pyramids by yourself.
Thank you for making me feel real.

I like how this DIY project is so much more realistic than most on youtube. With all the exhaustion at the frustrating parts and the quick fixes and the corner cutting and the procrastination. It's not perfect but you truly did it yourself for yourself and that's what really matters in stuff like this.

I'm guilty. I started a micro camper project 3 years go, brought everything for it but procrastinated for 2 years before even attempting it. Took another year to get to where i am now (95%), i still need to carpet the walls and upholster the seat/ bed. Being a perfectionist I'm anxious in doing it in case i mess up and have a crease or something, i will never be able to unsee it! haha.

(Comment 2, I know) The whole "I always keep stuff and look at it to go, 'how can you be useful? I KNOW you'll be useful!'" thing is *such* a woodworker trait. My dad was a carpenter and was exactly the same way. We had SO much scrap and reclaimed wood and random trim and whatnot in the garage-turned-workshop. But to dad's credit, he really would always find some use for it. Every single woodworker I've ever known has been like that. Welcome to the club, Kev!
36:47 its because youve most likely layered the varnish thicker on one side of the timber than the other, giving a more darker richer "colour" to the timber on the left

Kevin! I'm a certified RV Technician and I am so proud of you! That was a beast of an undertaking and you did a great job, way to go!
I'm not sure what you already know and have already done, but I do have some tips if you'd like them:
1) To make extra sure no more water leaks in through the roof, seal all the roof fixtures on the edges and screws with Dicor self-leveling RV sealant.
2) To seal the edges of the roof around the trim that connects to the side walls of the body, use non-sag Dicor RV sealant. Cover the trim with tape (Dicor is messy and hard to clean) and smooth the Dicor into the nooks and crannies. Make sure to peel the tape before the sealant dries too much though or it could take the sealant with it.
3) In the future, if you ever decide for whatever reason that you want to paint the exterior again, remove the metal trims and window frames beforehand and paint them separately, then stick some Butyl tape onto the backs before reinstalling them. And seal the edges and screws with clear silicone to prevent future water damage. But on the windows, don't seal the bottom with silicone, that way if water does get in somehow, it has somewhere to escape. (To smooth out silicone, spray it with soapy water before you run your finger over it)
4) I'm not sure what kind of wallpaper you're using but if it's durable enough that it won't get damaged by tape then you could use the hinge method. So if anything happens to it and you need to redo it or touch up a section, leave the backing paper on and tape around the edges to hold it where you want it, then run a long piece of tape across the middle to serve as a hinge. Peel the backing paper off one half and use a squeegee/scraper with a felt edge to smooth the paper out as you go, then peel the tape and do the other half. You might also be able to remove some of the bubbles by poking teeny tiny holes in them with a scalpel and lightly running a heat gun over it. Be gentle when pushing the air out of the bubbles so you don't tear the paper.
5) To secure the edges of the floor and ceiling to prevent rolling or peeling, you can just add some snazzy molding trims to anchor them.

Yeah this is info gold here. Not sure he glued the vinyl carpet down, but I was planning on recommending trim and silicone. It's that last step that takes your project to the next level for sure.
I was having a terrible evening, was mad at my ADHD and all the struggles that sometimes come with it, and wanted to find a nice comforting video when the storm calmed down a bit. This video was the best possible thing that found me tonight and I'm so happy you shared all of this with us!!
So many of us have been in similar places, over-committing, over- and underestimating ourselves and our enjoyment, procrastinating for years on projects, and so on... Seeing it talked about so casually throughout your video was such a breath of fresh air, because these are often things that stay in our minds, or private diaries and such. But here we are, all sharing those moments together knowing that we've been there, and we'll be there again.
It also reminded me of something I struggle with: there are highs and lows. We can't be constantly driven by high motivation and energy and do all the things. And when we're discouraged and tired, with whichever rest or help that suits us most, it is possible to get back on the train!
So massive thank you for putting up this long video (I love long videos!) and YOU DID SUCH A GREAT JOB ON THE BARAVAN!! Extremely impressive, so cozy, the before/after is ultra satisfying. Hope you get all the rest in there!!
I am so proud of you Kevin! I know it seems weird to say that to someone Iâve never met but as someone who has struggled with ADD, anxiety and depression, seeing you take on this project and complete it (and showing every bump along the way) gives me such a warm feeling. I'm 38 minutes into the video and I can confidently say that this is my favourite video of Kevin. Especially the part where he talks about his mental health, I could relate to it a lot. Honestly made me feel much better and it reminds me that Kevin has a life outside his content
That part was really meaningful for me too. Something about the camera angle and Kevinâs humbleness made it a really cool moment I think.

Itâs cute! In the space where you put the ring light, you should put a mini fridge since itâs suppose to be a *bar*-a-van. Also, in the spots on your ceiling where your wallpaper is crinkled, cover it with some hanging decor. A mini faux chandelier or something. I know youâre tall, so something that doesnât hang so low. Even some faerie lights would look cute to hang on the ceiling in those spots because they are easy to shape how you want it and they are battery powered so you donât have to plug them anywhere. Mix those with some fake hanging vines from a craft store for your garden theme. I personally love the cottagecore/rustic aesthetic of hanging vines. Thereâs a lot you can do to cover up your crinkles that will look intentional and add a nice cozy ambiance to your space. Overall though, you did quite well! Iâm impressed it turned out so cute from how it started.

It's funny, I'm in a similar boat. Just been very depressed. I shouldn't be, everything's been going great. Graduated Uni, got a full time job right out of college, the girl of my dreams is talking to me seriously. But I have no motivation. This video made me feel...*something*. I don't know what, but I want to do something like this. Oddly enough, it just gives me motivation to do *things*.

Yeah, things may SEEM like they're going okay, but if you're feeling this way to Begin with, there is clearly something wrong. Something is missing and you don't know what. If you are feeling this way, my advice is to simply ask yourself what you think may be missing. Saying that things should be fine is like saying that the Sun should be shining on a stormy day. Maybe it isn't shining, but the Sun is still there. When it's ready and it knows why it won't shine in a storm, it will eventually come out with the storm to make a rainbow đ-accepting the fact that it WASN'T gonna shine today, but now it's comfortable enough to shine along with the storm. So whatever you're going through, instead of saying what it should be, ask yourself why it isn't, and what can be done about it, and what you can learn from it.
This is a process on its own. In a way, I'm going through the same thing. It takes years to figure out and to accept. I hope that whatever storm you're going through passes with flowers đčđș newly bloomed on its wake. Be kind to yourself and remember your humanity. We aren't perfect and everything is feeling some way or another for a reason. Thank you for reading this and I wish you nothing but the best.đ

Though, I suppose I have heard similar ones- a favorite of mine is from the brother of one of my mom's oldest friends, that is just a great reminder when you feel bad about feeling bad: 'just because you aren't suffering the _most_ doesn't mean you aren't suffering' (also a paraphrase), it's great to be compassionate for others, but we so often forget to have compassion for ourselves!

This was amazing. I'm stuck in the middle of a kitchen renovation I started two years ago, and about a week ago the sink shifted. Even typing that enrages me. I'm hoping to pick up steam again on it soon and fix and finalize everything. These types of projects teach us a lot about ourselves and about the balance of practicality over perfectionism. Kudos to you for indulging in and finishing this project! What a monumental task. I'm glad you liked making this video because it was delightful, I loved the asides about magpies and weather. Feels like home. Restful, humorous, and terribly endearing.

Kevin renovated a caravan by himself and I deep cleaned my room after a 6 month depressive episode. I know it seems small comparing them, but I'm proud of both of us. No matter what you did today, big or small, whether it took 3 years or 3 hours, I'm proud of you

if the wrinkles on the ceiling are still bothering you, use a heat gun (or even a hair dryer on a heat setting) LIGHTLY over the spots and you can use the mini hand roller you have to roll the wrinkles out more easily. this project turned out really well, you did a phenomenal job with this.

That would help, but I think the problem is that the ceiling itself isn't perfect.
Kevin, I say this with zero sarcasm: This video was delightful to watch! Your unique sense of humor can put a fun spin on just about anything. I mean that. And getting to watch a full journey, regardless of what kind, start to finish, including the good and the bad, to a satisfying conclusion, in my opinion is always good content. Even if you'd decided to scrap the project, just acknowledging lessons learned would still have made a good conclusion. Not all "failure" has to be bad, you know? I say this as a fellow perfectionist with adhd, by the way. Also, we all tend to be our own worst critics. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's proud of you for actually getting it all the way done, and think it turned out wonderfully! It takes a lot of self-discipline to power through stuff you don't like, ESPECIALLY when your head is in a thousand places at once. Thank you for continuing to share this stuff with us! Seeing Kevin take on such a large project on his own is honestly so inspiring. The caravan looks so cozy and beautiful. The feeling of seeing it go from how it started to how itâs finished has to be so wonderful. I also absolutely love how so much of it was all reused, recycled pieces!! I did not expect this video to be so insanely comforting. Almost felt like facetime call. Watching someone doing something theyâre not an expert at is just so great. I think not being the best at something, holds me back a lot of the time. You start comparing yourself to social media etc. But this is so much more genuine and real. The end and seing the final result was just so satisfying. I honestly think Kevin could make anything entertaining, by just being himself. So excited to see your next projectâ€

I have watched Kevin for what feels like forever and this project is awesome. I also have ADHD and I felt so proud watching him do all this work for a beautiful end product.
Kevin this was such a beautiful thing to share with us. Especially when you opened up about how this has also been a journey regarding your mental health. Maybe itâs just because Iâm at my lowest, but watching you get better and overcome a lot of the blocks you had really makes me feel hopeful for myself. I have respect for how Felix handled his "retirement" from CZcams. Where he basically states that he's going to upload whatever/ whenever he wants and get back into enjoying the old days of filming, with no real deadline or restrictions. (Something along those lines). I hope that Kevin and the other veteran CZcamsrs do this as well. đžđđ

I love these moments in this video when Kevin just speaks from his heart and just share his thoughts with us, it's nice.
It's incredibly hard to truly describe how this video made me feel.
Since it was longer than the usual stuff Kevin puts out, it took me days to actually finish watching it, but each day I returned to it, I managed to fall into the same mood and atmosphere as the day before.
The gentle sadness, motivation, living in a moment, doing something for yourself and accomplishing something through struggles - not because you have to, but because you want to... was something mesmerizing to see from a person who spends most of his time putting out videos of very different taste.
We got to see Kevin so up close as a person with a full character as he guided us through his entire journey of this project. I loved all the little inputs on how he felt, where his thought process went and in the end how proud he became thanks to what he managed.
And can I just say how amazing the result really is? The neat look of both the inside and outside is so modern yet cozy and now I really want to get one for myself. Looks like a dream!

I genuinely enjoyed every second of this video and seeing Kevin have his moments where he was open and vulnerable was genuinely so sweet and made me love the channel even more.
I'm sure I speak for many of your fans when I say I'm incredibly proud of what you have done and I would absolutely love to see more of this type of content.
Also as a side note, I'm sure if you do more projects like this you would get faster and better at it and it'd be easier on your body and mind too

As a carpenter, I must say I'm impressed how well he restrained himself from eating the merang. I myself have had many a work related tummy ache
Everyone note Kev's attention to safety when breaking down sheet goods on the table saw. He stands a little bit or all the way to the side of the workpiece so that in the event of kickback, it doesn't blast him in the old marital gear. He also holds the material by the side and doesn't reach behind the blade to pull it through, because that can instantly pull your hand through the blade. He has the riving knife and guard in place, he's referencing the rip fence, and he's got side and outfeed support all around. Safely breaking down plywood, solo, on a little jobsite table saw, is all just technique. Nice! I've seen handyman tv presenters with their own shows who didn't follow these practices.

I have a short attention span so I usually won't stick around to watch an hour-long CZcams video, but you made it so fun that by the end I didn't really want it to be over. Thank you so much for not only sharing your journey but also inspiring me to just DO the stuff I've been postponing. It can be so easy to lose willpower, even when it comes to things we actually want to do, but once we find it again it's the best feeling ever, isn't it? Can't wait for your next project!
This video was oddly comforting. I'm struggling with a lot these days, barely functional (not really) and to see the highs and lows and hearing Kevin constantly reminding himself that it doesn't have to be perfect was something that I needed to see in someone else to remind myself too. One of the best things I've found for helping my depression is having a project and some manual labor. Sometimes, just working with you hands, figuring stuff out without a step-by-step guide, adding the final details and basking in the warmth of your creation does wonderful things for your head. The Baravan looks phenomenal. Good work mate.
and big things! like as opposed to little fiddly things. eg i love sewing but my brain just can't handle it when i'm in a bad spot. so i gotta figure out something with larger bits so i can still do stuff and not get bored lol
i'm the opposite lol. having an ongoing project gives me severe anxiety and dominates my every thought until its finished or scrapped. and it causes me to become very depressed. as sad as it is, i feel much better with absolutely nothing going on.
I donât know why I love Kevin content so much and then I see him be snubbed by a bee and I realize Iâll never stop loving Kevin content. Go Kevin. A random project that is hindered by mental illness being completed gives hope to those of us with similar projects

I'm really glad that you found something to do that you enjoyed! And we all enjoyed watching you do it. Many people forget, or maybe don't even know, that everyone needs something to do in their life. Lack of achievement and purpose has a tremendous negative effect on one's mental well-being. Although we enjoy watching you play games the most, we also enjoy seeing you do well for yourself!

The fact that itâs not perfect but still looks SO good is really encouraging. My uncle taught me some woodworking when I was a teenager, maybe itâs about time I use those skills again.
My favourite part of this is Kevin talking about his mental health battle. As someone who came home from being diagnosed with adhd and suspected autism it was a relief to see Kevin's video the same day talking about the same thing. Seeing him do this project honestly putting it off is very relatable. I have half finished art works and projects everywhere and its like... Im not broken and will finish theses things one day, maybe in a few years but i will finish. Thank you Kevin

Having a little caravan or RV is like the retiree version of having a treehouse. It's just a small space that you can escape to and relax without any of your normal day-to-day worries bothering you. I'm glad Kevin kept it up, and now has a quiet little space to look at (while avoiding touching) grass occasionally glimpse the sun when it chooses to shine.

This project felt so much more relaxed when I could just sit and listen to what you're saying rather than worrying about focusing on gameplay or something. 52:15 When he's saying it'll look like a design choice but it was really improv to fix a mistake he made - it reminds me of every video you see of people trying to follow along to Bob Ross's paintings. They always mess up somewhere in what they're trying to paint, and then they recover, and their painting just ends up being different. It's analogous to people trying to be something/someone, or a goal you're trying to reach. It happens, and it can be cool when it happens.
