Evan I think you are amazing đ
Agree
Oh hello!
And if it only works if you have that tick thing.
This video title feels like it came from the machine learning algorithm.
Imagine paddling the entire route, only to tell you that the ice cream machine broke.
I have collected photos of "Ice cream machine broken" signs in McDonald's in every country I have been to. The global consistency is amazing.
lolz
That ice cream machine belongs on the bottom of the river
@@jeandanielodonnncada It's never actually broken. It overheats and takes ages to cool down. Because of this, the ice-cream melts before it leaves the machine and is liquified
I work at McDonalds btw. Insider info here.
Now if the ice cream machine actually worked, that would've been a proper big twist to the formula.
At our local McDonalds, when it opened, they had a promotion where you'd get a discount if you came in the drive-through in a tractor. This was a stunt to convince the skeptical farmer to try McDonalds. But it descended into chaos: the drive-through infrastructure couldn't handle the sheer size of a tractor, and we ended up with 50-100 tractor clogging the traffic in the town centre. So they had to ban tractors in the drive-through.
That is hilarious. The city-slicker big-wig who came up with that didn't know how big actual tractors are đ
This is amazing đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł

- Tom, are you free to hangout?
- No, sorry, I'm flying to Germany.
- Oh, what for?
- I'm eating at McDonald's.
I'm getting a hamburger at McDonald's in Hamburg- er, sorry, order's here
Fast food is popular in Hamburg: on the Reeperbahn there's a kebab shop below the Pink Palace & a Pizza Hut next to it.
Alternatively:
- Tom, are you free to hangout?
- No, I was about to go to McDonald's.
- Oh, I can join you. Which location are you at?
- Hamburg.
There are people that like to go to other countries to try out how different fast food is over there
Ferry and Drive all the way to McFloatBoat
I was actually hoping it was a drive-through window for boats. This is still cool though.
Mcmonagles in Clydebank has a sail through!
Same
it's ite better than biden land
I hoped that as well!
But boats are different hights, if its a bigger boat, you canât give the food from that window because its too low
I love that the end segment made me realize a good amount of people probably immediately splashed river-water onto their food while paddling away.
if they were like this guy yes, he isnt a good paddler. He move to much with his torso using to much force bringing the paddle and taking the paddle from the water, and to little force pushing the water away from him.
River water is probably just as healthy as a coke anyway....

I actually grew up near a restaurant with a âboat-throughâ
Thereâs a radio on the end of an old dock post for you to order. Not entirely sure how they get it out to the boat, I never ordered from a boat myself, but apparently itâs very appreciated by fisherman and barge workers.
The place is called âBeachesâ in Vancouver, WA
McDonalds had a Floating Restaurant in I believe it was Vancouver. Although they never did Boat Thrus. Apparently it still exists but is now abandoned.
They do this at indian lake ohio also. so this is def not the only one that does this
Louisville Kentucky has a Joeâs Crab Shack and Tumbleweed Steakhouse both on the river, complete with boat parking and spots to pick up to-go orders on the river. So you can either pull up, dock, and go in - or get it brought out to your craft.
This is a perfect example for a perfectly executed marketing from this local McDonald. They literally had minimal costs and generate so much publicity only because someone had this smart idea, hell they even can use the power of influencers for free as you can see in this video đ
The franchise manager really loves it though. His enthusiasm about it just brings a smile to your face. Even though it is McDonald's
@chding zuure I imagine it's more for house boats then
Its good advertisement, i doubt it gets used more than few times a week.
not to mention the adorable accent
"Wish them a happy good day" đ
Right, I donât know how people stomach this quality of food. I skip a meal before putting poison in me.
_"...the world's only float-through McDonald's is in Hamburg."_
Why doesn't that surprise me?
Is there a better place to sell floating hamburgers?
I'm actually surprised it's not in the Netherlands or in a Norwegian fjord.
I also would've said Amsterdam or another Dutch city / town, but Hamburgs very watery as well so it still makes at least a little bit of sense

In my home country, McDonald's introduced the McArepa. The lines the day they introduced it were astounding - variations on the standard are, in fact, quite interesting.
Dont miss the "McSki" the only ski thru mcdonalds in the world, in sÀlen, sweden. Bonus is to see Tom fall on skis as well.
We can do better than that, combine the two and have them stand on this dock with your order so you can snatch it as you waterski past!
The ski hill I used to work at had a ski through coffee shop. Sadly it was a Starbucks so not the best coffee.

Oh and when youâre already in Hamburg maybe youâd like to visit the most beatiful cities of Germany: Bremen. đ
in my experience that "mix of familiarity and novelty" also applies to visiting mcdonalds abroad, because even though know what to order and expect, they always have those regional menu items that are different everywhere (things like McKroket in the netherlands, Croque McDo in france, and in belgium they even had beer??)
This is by far my most favorite video from Tom.
That's really neat, but they shouldn't have gotten rid of the float-thru speaker. Now it's really more like a dockside delivery service, that you just order online, which isn't quite the same thing.
If I'd had to guess I'd say it was either vandalised too often, or it didn't like the German winter + river humidity mix. In any case maintenance costs might be too high for them to bother
@@jakobvanklinken It is Germany, so there'll probably be some kind of law banning a speaker at a River
"Ah yes, time to pull out my phone to order..." *splashing sound* "oops"
@@gearandalthefirst7027 As a veteran kayaker you know everything needs to be secured and be waterproof. Maybe will visit it next season.
@@jakobvanklinken Probably got rid of it after Covid happened and so much stuff went curbside, so they just rolled the river ordering into the app as well.
Rather disappointed that the menu/speaker isn't there anymore. That just makes it a slightly more elaborate curbside (that must be a nightmare of 'not fast enough' for the employee who has to deliver to it during lunch rush), not a paddle-thru.
Exactly, you have to download an App and link them to your card info and then unsubscribe to a mailing list and their push notifications. It's probably also a hell of a lot quicker to just hop out the canoe and walk into the store with a âŹ10 note and order in person, than faff around selecting options, confirming an order and then getting out your credit card to tap in payment info.
Idk i feel like if i was working there i would love to be the person who takes the food down to the river. Seems like a nice little break
@@CalvinsWorldNews Something tells me that you missed the entire point of the video.

Was definitely hoping for the "drive thru" window to be right on the river. Seeing this implementation though, I'm surprised it's the only one. They can't be the only McDonald's that's along a river, and it seems like it would be a good way to get a little extra business from anyone boating by. "I wonder if anyone can ride a hovercraft there."
Not if it is full of eels.
so poetic
The manager looks genuinely happy
There is an ice cream shop in Hamburg with a proper âsail-throughâ for kayaks and paddle boards
And I guess you must have dozens of cafés where you can just order from a kayak or your boat. I have seen soo many of those here in the Netherlands...
In Apollo Pennsylvania there's also a row through ice cream shop.
An American friend of mine once showed me the McDonalds' in her hometown somewhere on the south edge of the one of the Great Lakes, where there's an actual docking quay for leisure boats to get food at the place as well. If I recall correctly you could also just order from your phone there and have it be delivered to you on the quay. If that's the case, wouldn't that make it functionally identical to this one in Germany?
Functionally yes, but not officially I guess
Fox Lake, Illinois, there is a marina for people to park up and order but it's not strictly a float-through as they don't bring your food to you.
I love how you'd think "this feels too scenic and amazing for just a McDonald's", then you find out it's in the *birthplace of the hamburger* and suddenly it makes sense
That pun at the end got me good
