JoesGE.com is a pretty cool place (depending who you talk to it might be more than pretty cool. But hey, I'm just writing this down so that it says something down here, because that's more professional right?) and if you're still reading along at this point you might as well sit down and grab some popcorn because this is about to trail on about how we are this premiere repair service located in Washington State North of Seattle in basically the "Armpit of the US" near Mt baker (Mt Baker has the world record for most snowfall at 1,140 inches in a season). Even though it can smell bad around here we love the fresh air and being near the post office and in a quiet sleepy mountain town certainly gives us much closer access to Team Turtle and Team Beaver (Watch our "Who, what, when and where is JoesGE?" video if you don't get the reference).
All this to basically say that we are all addicted to coffee and stay in the warehouse for ridiculously long hours in order to keep up with the demands of the youth for these two sided head audio devices and speakers that float when you throw them in the ocean or in your bathtub to test if they actually float. On top of that we do like it when less stuff ends up in landfills so we hoard everything on shelves with wheels so that we pollute less, it just sits in our warehouse loosing molecules slowly over time degrading to become smaller and smaller.
If you are still reading at this point you deserve an award, or a high five, or something because you must either be the most patient person on the planet, or you read blogs frequently. And if the latter is the case, then this whole thing must seem pretty short so lets keep going.
We do some really interesting things here at JoesGE which are frequently documented in our sometimes weekly sometimes never vlogs.
Also, if you are wondering how we keep up with the demands of the people so well, its because 90% of the people that work here are all Russian around getting things done most of the time. Yes, that was a pun, you are welcome. We hope you have a pun filled day, because who couldn't use a few laughs?

I used this and it actually worked! Initially after reassembly with a new driver there still seemed to be distortion with bass, but it was actually rattling. Pulling it back apart and making sure everything was seated well (i.e. pushing bits here and there until the rattle noise stopped) worked and now I have a working speaker. Thanks.

Thank you for this video. Anyone attempting this, take your time and don't jump ahead of his instructions unless you don't mind breaking small plastic clips or adding some wear to the fabric wrap. There is adhesive underneath the control panel spine area and it does take a bit of prying to get the adhesive to release. I bought my replacement speaker and passive radiator from the creator of this video and his shared link. The parts are perfect, and the repair was a success overall. The Megaboom is still a great speaker with it's current firmware update (which can be done via the app super easily now). So now back to blasting some Rich Brian and Joji. Thanks Joe's GE for the fast shipping and instructional video. I was very close to tossing this thing and buying a new one, but you guys saved me some good money. Lastly, this is indeed a bit technical for non-technical people to perform. So be patient and follow the video closely, or of you're nervous just send your speaker in to Joe's for service. I have pro tools from iFix it, and am a long time technician and engineer, and I still marked up my fabric a bit while prying the first end open. So just be aware that you may cosmetically mark the unit up a bit, but this fix is perfect. 😎

Hey cool video I did it and it fixed mines but there’s things you can do to make it easier after you pry open the charger part just peel the mesh but not all the way let it on the button side and just pull off the button side from the inside like you showed in 2:18 while the mesh and the back rubber thing is still attached to it it saved me around 10 minutes of unneeded prying. 🙂

I actually replaced the speakers with my own 6” speakers. Sure it’s not as portable and no longer water proof but it is louder and can be placed anywhere. I can still hook it up to my hyperboom and use it as a surround sound. It’s clearer than ever. Mind you my speaker is about 8 to 10 years old so I would not be losing much if I were to break it in the process not to mention I have many of these speakers as they are the best portable speakers ever made at a reasonable price.

So I used this video to disassemble my speaker. Found that the passive radiators are good no tears or broken pieces. The speaker drivers had a cracked casing/basket. I superglued everything the best I could just to try it. Everything seems intact now and seated correctly. Speakers work and are loud on both sides but the bass just isn't there. Bass seems to work intermittently but more not than working. Not sure what else could be wrong?

This videos steps are way more useful. Most just say "pry off the rubber before the fabric" , but doing the fabric first would have saved me from a lot of unnecessary damage to my boy.

If it is not a low battery then it may be a blown speaker.
