  • The 1995-1999 BMW M3 is known as the E36 M3. It is the 2nd generation of the M3 and although not as collectible as the 1st generation, it's possibly a better and more important car.
Although there are 2 available engines in US-Spec E36 M3's, a 3.0 liter inline six known as the S50 and a 3.2 liter inline 6 known as the S52, both put out 240 horsepower and hit 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.

E36 M3 for the North American market was neutered so bad compared to the European version. I drove one when I was stationed in Germany
    I prefer the E46 M3

The E46 is a better car in every way but despite the low hp numbers those US-spec E36's are still great cars

The reason that it stops nearly as well as modern cars is because it’s lighter.

There are a few facts that are wrong here. I am happy to correct them if you want. I have a euro version of the 3.2 m3 and that was the one to get,not the s52 m3.

Woo Cash, sounds like you are a little 'slow in the brain', you know. Dumb. You start off by stating there are a 'few' facts wrong here (plural as in more than 1) then you only take issue with "one". (Single as in not plural) and even at that, you don't cite a 'fact' but a 'preference'. If you want more top end speed (don't know why we don't have the autobahn here) instead of a wider torque range at the lower RMP, then the Euro version is "the one to get" for you. If you want more torque at the bottom end and do not care about going 200 mph, then the US version is "the one to get", see how that works?. Both persons have different likes and dislikes, so their 'preference' dictates their choice. One is not better or worse than the other, it all depends on what you like. Hope this clears up the confusion for you.

It's too bad that he isn't selling it, it really is in fantastic condition. That's kindof the fantasy, buying a classic sports car from the service manager of the actual dealership that sold it new

@@everycarSeattleI’m in Houston and I remember during the 2021 freeze I went for a walk to a friend’s house and on the way I drove by the Momentum BMW dealership in midtown. Parked outside, perfectly frosted in ice, was an estorli blue e36 m3. I still have the pic on my phone I couldn’t believe he left it there haha. Ironically I had a customer at my job at the time who’s husband worked there and I asked who’s it was and she said it’s one of the manager’s. Totally echoes what you’re saying about pride in a brand makes that person actually care about you. Anyways, growing up my neighbor across the street had a hellrot over black Vader e36 m3 as well, and when he unexpectedly passed away his wife offered my dad to purchase it. My dad had, and still has, an e36 330ci jet black over black sport and winter package. Being around this heritage my entire life has become a part of me it feels like as you can imagine haha. I’m finally in my early 30s and in a position to finally buy my dream e36, or close to it to start with, and I whole heartedly agree with you that the e36 m3 is not only the best 3 series ever built, but quite possibly the greatest driver’s car ever created.
