Youâre the only CZcamsr that doesnât piss me off while Iâm trying to remember how to make my granny squares and I really appreciate you
This is the 2nd comment video I have watched of yours. Years ago, my mom made a Granny Square blanket for me. The centers were all different colors and she did the outline in black. My son took the blanket to college and LEFT it at the college when he returned home, thus I lost the blanket my mom had made for me in 1974.(She started the blanket in 1973 and was originally going to make a twin-size blanket for my bed but I met someone and became engaged. I laughed and told her I needed the blanket enlarged. Due to the fact I never dated anyone more than once or twice, Mama really didn't think I'd date the guy more than once, maybe twice. We dated for 2.5 wks, (he came home to be the Best Man for his brother's wedding. I worked with his brother, this was how we were introduced (he was in the US Armed Forces and stationed overseas. We wrote letters back and forth and soon after Christmas, he started talking about marriage!! We were engaged on Valentine's Day and married in June of that year. We were married for 30 yrs at the time of his sudden death.
I've been sick over the loss of that blanket Mama made for me, but I want to replace it anyway.
Thanks so much for the amazing well-done tutorial. You have such an amazing way of teaching....absolutely amazing!
I hope to watch all of your previous videos and I am looking forward to learning new things from you and anticipating NEW CZcams Videos as well.
Thanks so much!
I never caught on to âturning your workâ, I guess it makes a world of difference. Thanks, maybe after umpteen more tries, I will finally get it. Thanks for being such a fantastic teacher.
Neither did I but I really think it does look better. Iâll treat it but Iâll have a hard time doing it.
Your magic circle technique is so simple! Iâve been crocheting for a while but every single time I need a magic circle, I have to go online and look it up because it confuses me and I forget every time.
From now on, Iâm coming back to the beginning of this video!
Gosh I love to watch your crochet stitches. My grannys always turn out wonky because I struggle to make consistent double crochets when doing multiples into the same space.
Just found your video and just finished my very 1st granny square. â€. I'm a knitter and have been learning how to crochet. Tysm. You have such a calming energy and a great way of teachingâ€. Thank you. I now have to repeat this a ton more times until I have enough squares for a tote bag đ
Standing Double Crochet = the best "new" stitch for me to learn... ever. I will never change colors any other way in **any** DC project. Thank you!
I know. Right??? I had never seen that before. I will never do it any other way!â€
Yes!!!! This was the most amazing discovery I ever learned!!
Iâm so glad you are teaching magic circle and invisible join as part of making GS. Youâre the first person Iâve seen INCLUDE these techniques in making of a GS. Thank youđđœđđœđđœđđœđđœ
I agree! I taught myself to make a granny square when I first started, it was the basic one that everyone learns. It was only a year ago that I learned to make a magic circle for a blanket I was making and, frankly, until I saw this video, I had never seen an invisible Join. Lol
Thank thank you THANK YOU! It finally clicked with me when you demonstrated this is a simply a slip knot youâre working into. When you put it like that itâs so much more simple and comprehendible!
It's like you knew that I was going to start trying my first granny square blanket.. love the tutorial!
Same!!! I started my first ever round last night but I think I'm going to redo my work with these tips in mind
Same here!!!!
Me too
Iâve been crocheting for years! Since 12 years old now 63. So elastic to have found a beautiful black woman spreading love and crochet knowledge. Keep it going, bless you and thank you!
Beautiful person! That magic ring!!! You have blessed me beyond measure! Thank you!
lawdddddd iâd been looking for a granny square tutorial that uses a magic ring instead of the whole chain 4 thing and this is THEE only one that actually makes sense to međđ so thankful for you and your channel miss yarn craftsđ€
AwwwwâŠIâm watching this and youâre grateful for 160k followers. Now 2 years later you have 491,000⊠almost 500k. In a couple more years you will have a million đ« PROOF of an amazing channel! â€
I always go back to granny square projects and I am happy. Thank you for bringing it back! No đ€
I could actually cry tears of joy, I finally can make a magic ring! Thank you!! I started getting into amigurumi crochet and could not figure it out for the life of me!!
Update: I can now make granny squares as well! Iâve failed so many times but now Iâm familiar with the stitches so I understand it!
@@JanPyt congratulations!!!!
You really have such a way with explaining things that I haven't been able to find before! I never understood instructions on how to not make my granny squares wonky! The way you explained it finally had it click for me, thank you!!
.Wonky
100 percent agree â€
That magic loop tip has changed my life đđđđ đđđŸđ„łđ„°
LOL I love your username!
Definitely a Keeper! I learned to try a smaller hook, a new way to do Magic Ring, a new way to finish off, and the Standing Double Crochet. Thank you!
You are the best teacher ever for crochet. Tutorials are very precise and easy to follow. Thank you so much? đ
After your beginner video, I could actually follow along and make my first granny square with this video. You've given me so much confidence!!
I just started to crochet, and have absolutely fallen in love with your channel. You make it look so easy! Being a perfectionist , I like to watch these tips videos before trying the stitch for myself, so I have fewer (obvious) problems. Thanks Toni!
The standing double crochet has just changed my life...thank you!!! Off to binge watch all your tips and tricks đ€
Wow, you are so calming, supportive and specific. This was the perfect help for a refresh...but added bonus....the tips were fantastic!! Who knew I was supposed to turn my work each round, about the invisible stitch as you hide your threads or the standing double crochet?!?! Where have you been you little crochet goddess?!
Toni , not only have I been making grannyâs wrong but now I have a new enthusiasm for my day đ„° . Beautiful manicure đ đŒ !
Thank you Toni for sharing how to do a invisible join, standing double crochet, and a manic circle. I never got how to do these stitches, but with your tutorial I now do! Thank you, thank you !!! Toni you rock as a teacher!
I love the tip about going down a hook size. †Been crocheting almost 50 years and have never heard this before. Thank you so much!
OMG!!! Why are you so wonderful!! Thank God for you!!!! You are unlimited Beautyl and Amazing!!! You have helped me by the tons!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!!! FYI YOUR VIDEOS ARE TRULY THE BEST AND MOST HELPFUL!!!! WOW! WOW! WOW!! Love the Knit Pick SWISH YARN because your granny squares look perfect with that yarn!!!! Oh my goodness that is the best granny square I have ever seen!! I will get me some swish yarn it must have!!! Girl, I need some of that granny square success! Thank you for all the wonderful tips!!!
You are a phenomenal teacher. Iâve stayed away from granny squares because they seemed too intimidating for me but after watching your video, I feel like I have some confidence to do a granny square blanket. I will probably re-watch your video 1000 times but it will be worth it. Thank you!
I truly appreciate this video, thank you so much I can finally do a perfect granny square. I can totally see the difference between my old one and this new one. I'm never looking back, this is so awesome. Thanks again! đ đâ€
Thanks for sharing your granny square tips, they are much like what my Nanna taught me when I was about 8 yrs..
I recently learnt another tip for Granny Squares when it comes to ending the round in the corner,
instead of joining with chain stitches use,
1ch and a single crochet into the top of your starting ch and you will never have to slst into the corner again, as your working strand will be in the center of the corner and you just continue on as normal!
I learnt this tip whilst crocheting a Solid Granny Square.
I was 12 when I learned how to make a granny square and these tips definitely help me to see the flaws in the pillow cover I made. đđđ
same, i'm looking back at my old grannys thinking about all flaws lol
Thank you, thank you THANK YOU. I have actually avoided patterns that begin with a magic circle. Now I feel confident with your easy way. You are a blessing!
You are one of the smartest crochet instructors Iâve come across on you tube
So, Iâve been crocheting for YEARS. I would consider myself at least an intermediate crocheter. But for the life of me, I have never been able to master a simple granny square. This tutorial has become my saving grace for granny squares. Never have I been able to make one that looks so tidy, and still feels easy to make. Thank you, friend! â€ïž
I've made hundreds of granny squares but had to click because you're the best :) Thanks Toni
You have a beautiful crochet technique. So effortless, even motion and calming. It's relaxing watching you crochet but learn alot because you're a great teacher! Thankyou.!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You have made my day. I do the magic ring and I have to tell you, that the way I have been doing it IS magic when I finally get it right. Lol. You have simplified it!!! AND turning your work around is genius. All my granny squares have turned out like the first picture you showed so I gave up trying. Iâm excited to try it again. Youâre the best.
Omgosh thank you so much for this magic circle technique! I hate magic circles normally because I always forget how to do them and have to watch a video in slow motion every damn time, but this one is soooo much better! thank you thank you thank you! I also love how you turn the round and do a slip stitch. I always want to turn the round but I didn't think of doing a slip stitch. omg and the standing double crochet? whhaaa? Awesome! I now must do all my grannys like you.
You make this look so easy. I've been knitting for several years, but crochet, I've done one baby hat - a rectangle that I seamed up the side. Not many people are patient enough to sit with a beginner and go slow enough so I can understand the mechanics. Saving this video!
Oh my gosh!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. especially on adding a different color. Great tip on making that first join a dc. â€â€â€â€â€
Youâre an excellent teacher! I havenât crocheted in probably 40 years but your clear instructions have helped me tremendously!
It's amazing how many different ways or techniques many people have making granny squares. I love your magic circle and invisible join. I thought I knew alot about granny squares but you come along and teach me something new. Thank you so much for your time in showing us and teaching us something new. â€â€
WoW YOUR magic circe was the easiest I have seen, Thanks a bunch!!
Your demo is the first granny square pattern that Iâve seen where you explain so clearly how to do it. I love your tips. They make it so much better. Thank you for sharing your way of making a granny square. Itâs perfect. đđđ»
I am making my first project with crocheting, by making granny squares. I'm so glad I watched your video, being at the beginning of my crochet journey! âșThank you
LOVE IT!!!!! Your magic ring is much better than what Iâve been doing for years! đđđđđđđđđđ
Some nifty tips! And your gorgeous candy-coloured nails were mesmerising! â€
This is my favorite crochet channel and this video is a perfect example of why - clear video, clear explanations, great tips and it is just the right pace!
Love how you showed the magic circle!đ
The colours are amazing . Love them as well the squares' size awesome.
You're just the BEST teacher, Toni! Thank you, so much!!
Iâve been making granny squares forever and learned three new tips today! As usual, your technique and content are FABULOUS!!â Thank you!!
Excellent tutorial! This was my first attempt at making a granny square and it came out WAY better than I expected! Thanks for the easy to follow instructions â€
I knew I would want to revisit this! Thank you , Toni! Playing with my yarn colors!
I love the way you explain the stitches and techniques for granny squares. Now I want to make moređ
I am so happy to find this tutorial. You have the easiest method I've found for making a magic circle and wonderfully clear instructions on how to crochet the granny square. Thank you! It's great to watch instructions that just make sense!
You are just so easy to follow! Iâm an advanced beginner and deeply appreciate these tips. Couldnât figure out why my granny squares warped, became frustrated, and went on to other projects. Youâve changed my mind, and Iâm eagerly picking out some colors from my stash!
Thank you!!
Love you on PBS WTTW Chicago area Knit & Crochet on Wednesdays at noon and repeated at 2 pm CST.
I am little late with my projects. I learn to crochet as a young girl. I wanted to thank you for the extra help I needed to make my projects look good you rock Toni. Thank you again.
I liked the invisible join and the standing dc . Turning the work really makes a difference. Thank you for the tips.
I like how you taught the magic circle and turning the squares ....thank you for these good learn tip ....love your blog toni
Finally a magic ring I can make! Thank you so much!đ
This such a cute blanket
Thank you so much for your detailed GS tutorial. I donât know what I would've done without it!
Love your tips! And watching you crochet is so calming and relaxing!
This is a great teaching guide. I saved it on CZcams and am referring to it a lot as I begin learning how to crochet. Lots of starting and stopping cause I canât go quite as fast as you yet đ but this is so helpful. Thank you!
Yes! For the love of granny squaresđđœI actually find that I donât have to flip my work to the wrong sideâŠnot sure if itâs because of the different hold of the crochet hook. Iâm using the pencil hold and not the knife hold, like yours. I find I also crochet faster with the pencil hold, maybe just because Iâm used to it and that was how I started to crochet many moons ago. I love your tutorials and learn so much from you. Thank you Toniđ
Thank you!! You're a very good instructor. I'm learning so much and really enjoying crocheting now. God bless you!
Such helpful tips! Thank you! I love the magic ring and standing double crochet tips the best. I will definitely try these out!
I really love your crochet tutorials!!! I always learn something!!! Congrats on 160,000 subscribers...200,000 is right around the corner đ„°
So this is where it all starts! Oh boy! Well, here we go. Thanks
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have tried to follow so many tutorials before finding yours. Your technique, directions, and demonstration are perfect! I finally made a granny square!!!!
You're seriously the best teacher on CZcams!
Was not impressed w/granny squares..but then seeing yours and then thinking of all the different colors that you can use makes me look at it completely different. I am excited to try them!! Question...do you need to use the same type/brand of yarn for your squares? i am new to crocheting...kinda...just starting it back up. I am struggling w/what yarn for what project and what size hook..its overwhelming right now. But I think it would be great fun to do a granny square blanket or atleast try. Thank you for your videos..your smile and enthusiasm for this craft is great. I might go broke buying yarn once I figure it out. Please keep the videos coming.......
Love your granny squares, tips and instructions!! Iâm generally a knitter but have picked up my crochet hooks and making granny squares for something to be decided!
This is the best video for granny squares. I learned so much! Thank you.
Thank you, thank you!! I have been watching granny square videos off and on for the last few months trying to relearn how to make one and not one of them made sense to me until I watched your video! You do a terrific job teaching technique. I successfully completed a square on my first try working along with (and pausing :) ) your video. You made my day!
My first afghan was the Granny Square. It fits my twin bed. After about 30 years, it is holding up well.
Thank you to the ends of the earth Toni I started crocheting about three months ago and actually tried to make this but I had so much trouble I decided to quit the granny squares and try plushies which I did this whole time now today I finally came back and I actually made a square I know itâs weird but I feel so proud and happy this little square is the start on a small travel blanket Iâm going to make ! Thank you again
- Tracy
I just made my first two squares and I'm obsessed! Thank you for the amazing pattern and tutorial- the babies in my family are about to be HOOKED UP
This is the first time that I have done a granny square correctly. I will be apart of CZcams channel to learn more from you during my 2020 shut in...Deborah>409
Thank you for a great tutorial. I thought I knew how to do granny squares but your tips will change how I do mine for sure!
Wow! What great tips - I've been crocheting for years & love to learn new techniques. Thanks so much! đ
This has been so helpful! Thank you for making this tutorial. This is my first time experimenting with granny squares and I'm happy to say I already made 2 and they are so simple thanks to your video! Thanks again â€ïž
Thank you for these tips. I will work along with your video next. I have just begun my journey on learning how to make the individual granny square. Your tips are just what I have been looking for.
Your videosâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžI love them so much! You have beautiful taste and I love everything about you and your channel. đ
THANK YOU!!!.. I've only just picked up crocheting (knitted in a former life, but not for decades) and am getting pretty ok for a beginner, but had tried to watch 2 or 3 other video's before I found yours. and it just make sense at this point.
Hot Dang, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your approach to teaching because IT works. Thanks.
OMG!! I never realized that turning my work would help so much.. I heard about doing it but it felt like an unnecessary step, but it seriously is a game changer. Thank you!!!
Super easy instructions. I kept having a problem with the ending of my work. YOU NAILED IT!! I feel that I am ready for more challenging projects. Thanks so much, HAPPY HERE IN SEATTLEđïž
Thank you for the magic circle info. My granny square blanket is coming along. You made learning this technique easy and quick.
hunny you are a gift đâšđ im new to crochet and have been so interested in making granny squares but havent found someone who can explain things very well? you my dear have changed my expectations XD your work is beautiful and your tutorials are easy to understand. thank you so much!! im subscribing for sure
Your invisible join is master class đđŒđđŒ
This is the first and only magic ring explanation that has made any kind of sense to me at all DX Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!!!
Thank you for addressing the granny square vortex issue. I have actually seen directions for granny squares that instructed people to not turn their work between rounds and I was so shocked. I have made numerous granny blankies and you definitely need to turn after each row to prevent the natural twist of the stitches from skewing the pattern.
grannies are my favorite! Make them all of the time
Hello!! I just found you recently and so glad I did! With the technique you teach on the magic circle - I have finally been able to do one. I have tried a few other of your tips and have started a granny square blanket for my 4 year old granddaughter - thank you so much for the inspiration!
OMG -- I can't wait to try this way of making a magic ring; I need it for a kit that I'm starting to work on for the fall. You're amazing!
Great tutorial! Moving a bit fast for me personally but easily paused as I went at my pace. Turning my work definitely changed the game for me! â€
