As a devoted Barbie collector myself I should add that most of these entries are not considered the rarest Barbie dolls in the world, such as Devi Kroell, Loraine Schwartz, Pink Diamond or Stefano Canturi. They are just OOAK's (One-Of-A-Kind) or customs. In my opinion, the and knowledge the actual rarest dolls are:
-Redhead #1 Barbie prototype. Yes, it does exist. Only 1 in the world. Last I heard, a collector in Japan owned it.
-Korea Barbie as Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, 1978. Only 4 or 5 dolls currently exist
    - Living Eli (Iki Iki Eli). A Japanese friend of Barbie from 1969
    - New Beautiful Francie 1972
    - Amigos da Selva Viky by Estrela, Brazil, Monica Indian Friend of Barbie by Leo, India and many other foreign Barbie releases by Cipsa, Top Toys, Rotoplast, and Leo. These dolls were produced by Mattel's license in Argentina, Mexico, Spain, India and are extremely hard to find.
    - Ultra Hair Whitney. A European variation of Brunette Totally Hair Barbie sold in Europe only
    - 1981 Snow Princess Barbie (Foreign/Netherlands-Exclusive Release). This doll was copyrighted/released in 1981. She has the Superstar head mold. She was released exclusively to the Netherlands. Her outfit is almost identical (if not identical) to Dolls of the World Eskimo Barbie.
    - Midnight Tuxedo AA Barbie 2001
    - Alpha Kappa Alpha Centennial Barbie Doll, sometimes called the AKA Barbie Doll. A collector Barbie doll was released in 2008 as a celebration of the 100-Year Anniversary of America's first Black Greek sorority founded in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha.

The Ultra Hair Whitney with the Steffie face! That is quite a rare find and a pie-in-the-sky wish to attain, along with the 1990 United Colors of Benetton Teresa (which was also a European-exclusive release and ironically enough, also has the rare Steffie face)!

I was born the same year as Barbie, so when I got my first Barbie she was one solid piece as a body and even her arms didn’t move. I remember loving her accessories very much. When I ‘outgrew’ Barbie my stuff was given to some random daughter of someone my mother knew. That was before Barbie and her ‘stuff’ became valuable. I truly regretted not keeping all of it. If I had my guess, maybe it's because he's done a lot for Barbie, whereas the designers on the list only made one and thus are harder to find. At least he got a mentioned. But yeah I thought he'd have more than one too. I was lucky enough to get 2 Bob Mackie dolls when a store I knew weas going out of business and my mom bought them for me (the combined total was still $100, which was still a lot for some one like me, who could afford mostly the Pink Label ones).

    • @badkitty4922
      @badkitty4922 Před 10 měsíci

@Zodia195 that still was an incredible buy your mom made! My parents like yours could never afford any Bob Mackies or the special edition Barbies, such as Marilyn Monroe, Lucy (Ball) or any other celebrity look-alike Barbie. It's ok, I did get a BUNCH of the International Barbies who all pretty much looked like the nationality they were supposed to be (I'm thinking of the Indian, Korean, and Japanese in particular).💖💖💖
Wasn't there a special edition Cher doll wearing a replica of the black "spider web" like gown
that Bob Mackie made just for her? Complete with that GORGEOUS headdress?
I hope you remember the gown and headdress I mean because I SWEAR there was a special edition doll.

When Star Wars Prequel Episode 1 first was coming out, Mattel was offering Queen Amidala Barbies in her iconic outfits. A friend was collecting them and I remember spotting a hard-to-find Red Senate Gown Barbie in the Indianapolis Airport as I was changing planes on a business trip. I bought it for her and brought it home. I'm pretty sure that she still has it. Whatever you might think about the prequels, those were beautiful Barbies.

Mattel has never released Queen Amidala Barbie, because Hasbro owned a "Star Wars" master license at that time. However, in 2019 Mattel created 7 dolls (Darth Vader, Leia, Stormtrooper, Rey, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2) in collaboration with Disney's Star Wars franchise. The dolls were described as images of iconic Star Wars looks and characters put through a high-fashion Barbie filter. The dolls weren't the characters themselves, but rather Barbie dolls wearing Star Wars-inspired fashion. Two waves of dolls were released, 3 in the first wave and 4 in the second wave.

MEH. 😒 Very disappointing list. I am a lifelong Barbie collector, and have been buying Barbie dolls since the late 1970s. Only two of these dolls would make it into my collection, but only one of them is one that I actually really want. Far too many 'nothing special doll dressed in real diamonds and whatever by some designer I never heard of' concepts on this list.
    10. *Pink Jubilee Barbie* - Don’t have her, don’t want her. Very typical late 80s look that never seemed to rate a second look.
    9. *Devi Kroell Barbie* - Never heard of this designer, don’t have this doll, don’t want this doll. The outfit is okay, but not worth big bucks.
    8. *Pink Diamond Barbie* - Meh. The hand-beaded stuff just doesn’t grab me. Like, we get it, some underpaid seamstress spent hours and hours on this, for it to just look like a textured sparkly dress.
    7. *Original Barbie* - Don’t have her, and is the only one I would want from this list so far, but I’m not willing to pay a premium for one.
    6. *Karl Lagerfeld Barbie* - Don’t have this doll, don’t want this doll. But at least I have heard of Karl Lagerfeld.
    5. *Pink Splendor Barbie* - Don’t have her, don’t want her. Always thought this doll was ridiculous in every way.
    4. *De Beers 40th Anniversary Barbie* - Never heard of her, don’t have her, don’t want her. Looks super cheap, diamonds or no. A regular beach Lea doll in a really poorly conceived fashion look. Seriously, who thinks that looks fashionable?
    3. *Marie Antoinette Barbie* - She’s alright. I don’t have her. I wouldn’t pay a premium for her, but if I found her cheap I’d get her.
    2. *Lorraine Schwartz Barbie* - Never heard of this designer, don’t have this doll, don’t want this doll. It’s just a regular Aphrodite-faced ModelMuse in a super boring look. Meh.
    1. *Stefano Canturi Barbie* - Never heard of this designer, don’t have this doll, don’t want this doll. Really boring Mackie-faced ModelMuse doll in a really boring look.
I just don’t care about regular cheap Barbies dripping with ‘valuable’ jewelry. Boring AF.

Some of the prices for the og Barbie’s are wrong, a #1 can go from $8k-30k, a 2 around 2-7k, 3s are about 500-2k, 4s around 100-400 and so on. The older the ponytail Barbie the more she’s worth

Im not surprised if there's a rare Barbies out there either by controversy or we weren't born in that barbie era and when we just found out and wants it ends up costly.

I WISH I had my old Barbies! I always purchased the limited edition Barbies for my niece as birthday/Christmas gifts. She has a unique Beautiful collection that hopefully one day will be her retirement fund.

I don't think using collectibles as a retirement fund is a good financial plan as the dolls are only worth what someone else is willing to pay. I'm happy your niece has lovely Barbies to enjoy though.

I have over 350 Barbie’s in my collection. I don’t have the ones in the video but I do have some very rare ones. I’m going to start selling them pretty soon. I still have all my old Barbies that I played with from 1964. And I have all their clothes. I was lucky when I was a kid my Mom worked for a toy store so I had Midge slams Skipper and Tutti and Todd and Allen.
This movie is my childhood come to life!
