In 2008, I was in a rel with a guy who was diagnosed schizoaffective end of our 1st yr together. Times were hard so sought advice from an older friend who had a schizophrenic brother. After meeting my bf, she noted he was bright, resourceful and charismatic, but (yes) is ill and needs support/medication. She also noted that (like her bro) he was born an ASSHOLE and that mental illness and assholedom are NOT mutually exclusive ✅️ Same applies to Azalea Banks.
My friend roommate was diagnosed with schizo as well but he was the nicest man ever untilllll he experience one of his episode then he is an aggressive nice man.... guess to each it's own

But the purpose of Raynie's story was to show me that mental illness and shitty behaviour can be 2 separate issues. One isn't always at the root of the other. She wanted me to think twice before just blindly chalking up my bf asshole nature to a biochemical imbalance and I'm grateful she took the time to do it because [turns out] she was right. Even when he wasn't in the middle of a horrible episode he was treated his friends and family poorly, myself included.
