Always can respect a man who has built everything he has from absolute scratch. Who would have ever thought the skinnu kid riding his bike around would turn out to be one of the most influential strength athletes in this worlds history? Life is about taking risks putting yourself out there. Sometimes being an outsider and seeing the world from an uninfluenced perspective will motivate and drive one to push themselves harder than anyone can imagine. Even themselves.

One thing that stands out to me, is the fact that as a full grown man, you mention your mom so often. You truly love your mother, and she's been a huge part of your life. honestly loved this talk and related to it way more than i thought, also reminds me of my dad and the stories he told me which also involved gangs and hard drugs and just in general a bad environment with too much free time. Im grateful i discovered larry back in 2018 and he got me into the gym and that became my release and outlet otherwise im sure id be much worse off, i just cant help but wish my dad also discovered something similar that could have led him down a better path. Always appreciate your transparency larry, you've been an idol of mine for years now and helped me when i was 15 get to where i am now, cheers.

thits hits me so much i got bullied severely in Middle school i started wrestling then a fellow HS wrestler took me under his wing & introduced me into a wresting off season gym with a bunch of wrestlers and this started my bodybuilding journey i was a freshman in HS this was 2016 been working out ever since i am so blessed from that made so many good friends felt like a community never did hs sports but had my buddys in that wrestling lifting program i think thats what fuels me too is being bullied like that stuck with me tbh and idk i just feel like having gainz is a identity for me especially bc these past few years i have dealt with super bad suicidal ideation.
This is a powerful, very powerful life experience and sharing it took great strength of mind and greater then average courage. Only a MAN not a child in a mans body would have what it takes to share such a story. This is a MAN that's not only extremely strong on the outside but equally strong on the inside. A true life super hero.👍👍 sharing his story helps those that have gone through a similar situation themselves rise above. That they don't have to stay down in a hole that others have put them in, that they are not alone in there struggles, and that the sun will rise on them. This is a true leader one who leads with true experience and not lip service, or a poser.

I really respect the fact that you can look back at the confrontation at the basketball court and talk about it like you did. It doesnt seem like you got big to prove them wrong/show them they had to respect you, instead you were able to address those insecurities and become better for yourself. It doesn't seem like you're bitter, in fact it seems like you have an understanding of the day-to-day conditions of those teenagers and realized you made a mistake.

Not gunna lie this story pretty inspiring and also kinda could relate my birth to becoming stronger and bigger hitting the gym was very similar pretty interesting and dope story
I can relate to the low self-esteem and depression and anxiety which both are closely related I lifted weights since I was 7 years old on and off through 2007 and I went through a breakup and I haven't started back to lifting weights I'll do want to get back into it I was born in 1991 and I'm probably going to have to start slow when I was in my teens I will just start out at 20 lb dumbbells work my way up to the 45 pound dumbbells I have lost the desire and I'm trying to get wish Larry could come to North Carolina and train me back in shape that would be awesome
Dylan. I too was born in 1991 and have suffered from depression, anxiety and suicide on-and-off since I was 15 in February of 2007, (the earliest memory of when these feelings first resonated in my mind).
From there, I’ve started working out in my Junior year in September 2007, also on-and-off, but completely stopped in the beginning of 2022 when I just turned 30. I turned 32 in September and haven’t been in the gym since.
I will agree it is a life changer to be in the gym to begin with when you’re going through such personal things in your life that can be devastating to one’s self-esteem and growth.
I believe sometimes these things daunt us and we ourselves become our worst critics and even make excuses for our lack of discipline to remain focus on the end goal, regardless of life’s circumstances. Nevertheless, enough with the excuses I have been making and the amount of procrastination I often make for myself.
I definitely have to go back to working out soon. I’m also currently based in the south but in Tennessee though, right next to North Carolina. Maybe we will cross paths one day.

@@AJHernandez1991 damn almost the same story, i started working out in 2022 (my senior year), on and off but now since I've graduated, I locked in and started my transformation. And also a break up happened which motivated me to become a better version of myself

I'm sure you'll never see this comment, but I hope you do. I'm the same age as you, grew up in Grand Case where my grandmother's house is - and I wonder if we used to hang out on the beach. It feels really coincidental that you posted this. I lived half between the U.S. where my mother was and half there where my father was. Even my profile photo on CZcams is me as a baby in Saint Martin. so weird
