With each video I get more excited about walking this myself 😊
And with each video I post, it makes me (already!) want to rewalk this route!
Another beautiful day on the trail, thanks for sharing the journey. I think you are so right for taking it easy, get up when you want, travel at your own pace. I think sometimes on the Camino people can get locked in to the schedule too much. Get up at the crack of dawn, head down and slog from A to B just to get the miles in rather than experience the journey. But you are so right to just let the day take you where it wants to. Looking forward to the rest of the trip :)
I've found that this is the nice thing about having reservations- it just frees the day up completely (at least for me!) and I can just really settle in to the actual experience of walking, and noticing what's all around. I like walking without reservations too- that adds a different element- but for this hike I loved that I tried to take it 'easy' a little more than I normally do!
Nadine, I would love to know how you prepared/planned for the Rota Vicentina. It’s the first time I hear of this route, so I’m just curious how you tackled the whole journey (lodging, meals, maps, stages, etc.).
I'll try to make a video that talks about my preparation, but really I just googled and looked at websites/forums and pieced things together! There are some guidebooks that could be helpful too (though I didn't use one)
Stork Spotting... a new Olympic event? hahaha! That coast really is a stunner, isn't it? Once again it is a joy watching yours as you traverse this terrain... with your trusty walking stick. :) Cheers and adventure on!
I'd be a medalist for sure if Stork Spotting were an event!!
Just enjoying my first coffee of the day and your video popped up - what a great start to the day! Beautiful trail.
Your editing has really stepped up over the last year 🇳🇿
Great timing then, I'm glad the video could provide you with some morning entertainment! :)
So great to see the storks nesting i didnt know they stayed on the coast so much ..wonderfull scenery and insights
Wow, such a beautiful coastline and the storks are the cherry on top. 😊
Yes, I'd read about the storks when I was planning, but actually seeing them/hunting for them was better than I expected! Just a nice little addition to an already great trail.
You are up so high on this walk!! I could never imagine doing it…amazing video
Sometimes it WAS pretty high, especially when I stood close to the edge and looked down! But it was incredible too!
I agree, that long straight stretch at the end of the day was gruelling, mentally for me. I'm glad you didn't see any wild boar - I remember watching your last wild boar encounter on a previous camino. keep smiling!
I decided that this is the only problem with the route... we're so spoiled with all those coastal views, that the times the route veers away from the coast, it's like- "You mean I have to walk along a road?!"
Beautiful coast! Nice weather! Delicious dinner with lovely cat and dog! What a day!
❤❤👍👍
It really was an all-around wonderful day!!
Another wonderful route to file under the 'to do' list! This year I'm taking your past advice and doing the Aragones (starting on the latter stages of the Arles). Thanks Nadine!
How wonderful, the Aragones really is a great Camino... and it's also great to hear that you're starting a few stages before Somport, on the Arles route. Personally I think that's the best way to do it, walking in France is a special experience, and it's incredible how much the route changes almost as soon as you cross into Spain!
@@NadineWalks I'm a bit nervous about merging with the Frances though... reports are a bit messy right now, some are saying there aren't enough beds, but I can't actually tell if that's true beyond the early stages from SJPDP...
Woaah what a beautiful coast! And what a courageous woman 💪💪❤️ I'm looking forward for your videos
I just couldn't get over how beautiful the coastline was!
The music goes so well with the scenes, go well. 😅
As always just authentic and beautiful ❤
Thank you Alison :)
I get PTSD looking at that sand 😂 Those cliffs never get old though... I took a break at 7:00 and remember it vividly😍
I love how you don’t bring a walking stick but find one on the way. The Lord always provide.
Sometimes the first few days of a walk are tricky because I don't have a stick yet, but the search is part of the fun!
Would love to learn about how you prepared for this route! Love your videos!
Maybe I'll do a video about preparation for this walk... but mostly I found info on websites/forums and stitched my plans together! There are also a few guidebooks that would be very helpful in planning :)
The storks are amazing! I'm hoping to see some on the houses along my upcoming Camino. And Year of Wonders is a great book... anything by Geraldine Brooks, actually!
I remember liking March (I'm a Little Women fan) :)
I’d be surprised if you had much jet lag. You are outside getting sunlight and resetting your circadian clock which is most of the cause of jet lag. I hesitate to suggest it but next trip try no alcohol for two nights. It really messes with sleep cycle regulation.
Ooh, but that first cerveza... haha, you're probably right that skipping the alcohol for a few days will help! I'll have to put that to the test on my next walk...
Really when you wake up you may as well start walking or you just lay in bed being bored or at least that’s my experience . The last minute inclusion of that jacket paid off I see 😊
Well… that ended up being the ONLY time I wore the jacket! 😂 But I will still happy that I’d brought it, just in case
My thoughts exactly pack everything just in case , it’s my downfall in packing But I finally figure it out .
Another terrific video....always suspected that you were a closet birder!
What a stunning seascape day! You got me all excited for a wildlife moment and then it ends up being a beach cat! Are you getting a good amount of solitude or are there more people out there than it appears in the videos?
Hahaha, after my boar encounters last year, I'll take a beach cat any day!! But sorry for the let down ;) The trail wasn't too crowded- people really did spread out as they walked, though it definitely wasn't complete solitude. There were a few mornings that I had the path completely to myself for awhile (which I always love!) Other times there was someone ahead/behind, but overall it was never actually too crowded for me!
I studied Year Of Wonders in high school English :)
I've had that book on my shelf for years! I picked it for this trip because it was a bit smaller/lighter than some other options :)
