Many people don't see it this way, but the stats don't lie. Minnesota has put themselves in a hole because they need Naz reid's scoring punch. The problem is, Naz reid isn't helping them defensively. The man was the leading scorer in game 2 with 23 points. The lead the Mavericks pulled back was 18. So they ultimately scored 19 more points than Minnesota to finish the game. Naz reid +- was 0. He gave up 23 points on the other end and finished with a 0.
So now J kidd has them in a situation where if they bench Naz reid their offense drops off completely and mavs can cruise throughout the game and close it out in the end, or they play naz reid and give up every point on the other end resulting in the same ending. You saw it last night with KAT being benched, the coach wanted offense over defense. And Mavs pulled back an 18 point lead.
Thus, there are two main reasons why this team cannot beat the mavs.
- Mavs have locked up the paint which has locked up the 2 stars.
- Twolves are sacrificing defense for offense because their stars are locked up.
And the X factor in this series has been a rookie. Derek Lively holding his own and even dominating the Minnesota bigs has been the story of this series.
Its cliche, and it seems lazy, but the only way the wolves have a chance to win is if they can unlock the paint.
On the other side, Luka and Kyrie have showed up. The role players haven't shown up offensively and have still pulled out two road wins. What happens when they show up too? Its a blowout.
If Kyrie hits his fts, the mavs win this game comfortably by 4 or 5. But I don't like playing the "if" game.
Luka has figured out the wolves. They haven't taken anything away. Luka has them eating out of the palm of his hand. He can get to any spot he wants, he can get the ball to anyone he wants, they are in a different world to the one Luka is playing in. He has the paint, the three ball and the mid range all available for the mavs, and the lobs are the cherry on top that has unlocked it all.

@@saiwaqa2573 THAT, is a fact, along with a few other things you said. Those things you said did in fact happen. The TAKES you made (your opinion), were more or less 3 things. 1 was that Naz reid put them in a hole, out of the team's desire to "sacrifice defense for offense". The 2nd was that because of 2 reasons you mentioned the wolves can't beat the mavs. And the 3rd is that Luka has figured out the Twolves.

No secret Naz is shooting the lights out. Finch has a tough decision going ahead. Tbf, kat was also a -1 and didn't offer the same offense as as reid. And that just speaks more to Minnesota's offensive struggles as a whole.

Dallas is the younger team, but you are talking about young Wolves all the time.
Mavs are older for just over 1 year on average, but most older players on Mavs don't contribute (exception is Kyrie) a lot right now. THJ isn't really a factor, Powell is not an factor, Morris is not an factor, and Kleber is hurt. Rest of them are 28 or younger. Players that do contribute a lot, might actually be younger on average than players on Wolfs or about the same.
What they mean but young is that this isn't Luka first play-off lol.

The way Luka and Kyrie are playing is terrifying. And the idea of Kyrie beating us in the finals is not nice. I also don't want to root against them because I like both players and the Mavs on the whole.

To me, the mavs just seem to want it. They're like starving beasts out there. I don't think the celtics main 2 guys are historically very good when teams come at them with no fear. The mavs are hungry, and they don't quit. On paper celtics should win, but no one should feel safe against the current mavs.
