  • Hello everybody,
    I've gotten lots of response on a video about modelling with curves. This is now by far the most populair video on this channel.
    Since there are not so many video's on curve modelling I decided to make a small series on modelling with curves.
    In this tutorial I will show you how to setup a base file to model round models in Blender. With curve modelling you can have very nice geometry with very little effort.
    Thank you for watching. If you have any questions, feel free to add them in the comments.

    Baptiste G makes it look easy to do 😊

    In more recent versions of Blender there may not be flow direction on the curves. You have to click the curve, go into Edit Mode, go into the Viewport Overlay settings (up top next to MatCap settings) and enable Show Normals under Curve Edit Mode at the bottom of the dropdown

    I know this is probably late, but since I was getting the same issue as some other people here: Don't rotate the bezier curve in Edit mode since it will not give you the shape seen in the video. Do the rotation in object mode or go to Object properties and insert the 90º values yourself.

    Yes. I wish Blender had Rhino’s curve modeling tools. This helps.

    I can't get it to work in a way that the orientation works changing the position of the path

    • @BaptisteG

      Hey. It is indeed tricky. And I don't know how Blender 3.0 does this.

    I tried this and everything worked fine until the bevel. I just get a bevel on the circle, even when I select profile. I tried twice and got the same result. How to fix? Blender 2.82

  • @florians.6402
    @florians.6402 Před 3 lety +1

    When I try to select "Profile" in the bevel section, it only lets me select "path" and i get a weird shape out of it. It basically pulls the circle up into a tube and bends it, instead of wrapping the curve around the circle. What can I do to fix this? Im using blender 2.83.4

    • @BaptisteG
      @BaptisteG  Před 3 lety +1

      Make sure you have the path curve selected and then add the bevel. I think you mixed the path and the profile. the path is the circle, and the profile is the shape you want to follow the path.

    What if I need to change the diameter of the cylinder? does the initial size of the circle you start with matter?

    • @BaptisteG
      @BaptisteG  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey, I will go in to that in later videos. for now I would suggest to move the profile away from its origin in edit-mode.

  • @littlemissH0202
    @littlemissH0202 Před 3 lety

    I did everything but when I select profile at the bevel, it didn't follow the shape of the profile but just create a bevel at the circle only. please help me.

    • @BaptisteG
      @BaptisteG  Před 3 lety

      Hey Omar. I'm sorry it does not work. Did you scale or rotate in edit mode or something? Maybe if you start fresh, it will work out. Please keep me posted, I would like to help you.

    @sirsudeepsingh2162 Před 3 lety

    why we tilt the curve at very beginning ?

    • @BaptisteG
      @BaptisteG  Před 3 lety

      the tilt is to match the profile curve to the projected curve on the path. This way it is easier to understand in your mind, If you adjust the profile, you will see the result on the path.

  • @malizec
    @malizec Před 3 lety

    nope, got a different shape, something that looks like a vase, part below the X doesn't bevel along the created curve, goes in opposite direction towards Y instead

    • @BaptisteG
      @BaptisteG  Před 3 lety

      Hmmm kind of difficult to picture this. The path ( circle ) controls the flow
