The philippines never take seriuosly the ASEAN Basketball, sending team c and sometimes without preparation, but our lose to indonesia last sea games was an eye opener,the ASEAN basketball are getting stronger. Thats why we need to send some of our best this time.

I would say that Filipinos are one of the greatest lovers of the sport. I live in the US and play basketball a lot. I may not be as tall as my American friends who play basketball with me but I can out play some guys taller than I am. I sometimes joke with them " Filipinos have the Skills, Energy and Athleticism, and Heart(Puso) for the game, we just don't have the height for it. =)

The Gilas team is already a strong team even without an import, kaya nagbibigay boost lang ang import to an already strong team like Philippines. Ang indonesia naman have weaker local players, so even if they get the best biggest strongest import in the world, matatalo pa rin sila sa Gilas because of their weaker core locals and standards. In short, hindi batayan ang import sa pagkapanalo ng isang team.
Good for the Philippines, this world-class team has good agility and skills as well as lessons for Indonesia to be more agile in finding the ball because most of the turnover is due to overtime passing

I agree. He is very promising at age 20. Not to mention, he also has some international experience (before FIBA) when he joined Mighty Sports for the Dubai tournament earlier this year. His basketball IQ is also quite high for someone his age. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes team captain at a young age

Let's just play for the good of every country in the ASEAN, every time a team plays win or loss it has gained another experience, and somehow improve for the next game. It will take time but, it is what it is. look Vietnam, Myanmar in the last ASEAN games 2019. these teams has no place to go but improve.

Gilas needs to work on their tendency to give fouls. If they were more careful, the lead would probably be 40 points.
Also, Indonesia needs to work on their technical fouls. Generally, technical fouls are NOT common but Indonesia has THREE in this game.

the amount of indos in the comsec that are bitter about their loss explains why indonesians are the most hated fans in the region. they are often arrogant when they win and whine like a babies when they don't. they always got a reason for everything and something to say against the opposing teams' players. in this case, they are complaining about our so called "imports" when in fact cj and abu are not. they have filipina moms, either born or grew up in the ph and are considered locals by fiba. so basically, no imports here. u cannot blame filipinas for getting married to foreigners often. if you're so jealous, why don't you tell ur women to be more beautiful so they can also marry more foreigners and so u can have more half-bloods too? u know, to help with ur struggle with accepting diversity and all😉

This is one of the better FIBA referreeing although there are some traveling violations not called on both sides.
Arab and European FIBA referrees are worst because they even miss FLAGRANT fouls. At least the refs here call the technical fouls, and reviewed the videos
