- Getting straight to the point of how to fill out a pink slip when buying or selling a car. It is very important to fill out the information properly so that there are no problems when you go to turn the title in to your nearest AAA or DMV or when you mail it in. Though it is easy to do, not everyone has bought or sold a car before so I want to make sure that you know what to do when the time comes. Maybe you just need a refresher if it has been a while since you last bought or sold a vehicle, well here you go and don't miss a step or you are going to create an unnecessary headache for yourself.
If you are selling the car there needs to be a total of 3 signatures and dates on the pink part of the title and 1 signature on the white part of the title (top portion that you turn in as a seller). As for the buyer, they need to have 1 signature and date on the pink part of the title where it asks for the buyers signature and they need to input their information (name and address information) on the white part of the title. If any of this information is not properly filled out it will not be accepted by the dmv. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thank you for taking the time to make this. It really helps newbies get started.
Thank you I appreciate the feedback. It has helped more than just newbies. people who dont do it often or haven't filled one out in a while. anyone the video helps is great 👌👌
So do I sign on 1b or what didn't say that I'm buying doesn't say shit
I’m 25 getting rid of my fist car to a junk yard and this video answered all the questions and concerns I had! Much obliged
I'm happy to hear that. glad the video was exactly what you needed
This should be taught in 9th grade
if only they were allowed to learn real life important info in high school.
I had an idea but still confused on what to do as I'm selling my car to the junkyard. This video helped me put it all together easily. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for the info. That was really driving me nuts. I don't know if I have to sign it or the seller had to sign it. You saved me a lot of headache and time. Thank you for this video. It was straight to the point

I appreciate the feedback. thanks for watching and glad the video was of help for you 😁👌
Thank god. I seen another video that said that the seller "had" to sign part number 2. Thought I had gotten scammed or something for a second haha. Thank you
it was probably the original video I made on this. not a scam and definitely not a problem signing another signature where it may or may not be required
Extremely helpful! Thank you!
Appreciate you for making this video helped a lot thank you
Thanks for this useful video. Answered most of my questions better than the DMV. I wish they made a video. With this i assume the back portion does not need to be filled out but i'll check.
Thanks!!! Appreciate this video!

thank you so much such a helpful video! the DMV sent me a new pink slip because I apparently filled it out wrong. how do I get the owner signatures from the owner if I have no contact with them now?
Awesome info. Thanks!

Thank you! Very helpful.

Really helpful honestly this is really help full
thanks for the feedback. happy this video was of help to you
Perfect! Thanks! 👊😊
To be perfectly clear this is the same for every state correct?
FYI This is one of the best HOW TO FOR DUMMY guide I ever watched.
to be perfectly honest, I am not certain about other states. I do know however, that different states have different regulations for transferring titles. I would check on your local state dmv website. thank you soo much for the feedback, I do appreciate it very much
Thanks! Question, what if the registered name is a company? Is their additional documentation I have to provide when purchasing? My concern is the statement that says, "Company names must be countersigned."
Thanks dude really helped
Awesome!! Glad it could help you. Thanks for watching.
That was helpful. Thanks!
awesome 👍
Glad the video was helpful for you
Thank you! DMV made it more confusing then it needed to be.
To make their jobs seem more important then what it is. Everybody does it. Job security.
They pissed me off today. Here at the Riverside, California (Brockton). Went early before work, when it was my turn to say why I was there, I showed them the pink slip, but I didn't know it needed to be signed, she said it needs to be signed and told me to have a good day. Wtf? Me a good day? A nice way to tell me to EFF off SMH...I'm moving to AZ in a few days and they say their DMV is way nicer and less busy than this heap of a place
glad this video was of help for you
Thanks brotha! 💯
you are very welcome
Very helpful video 👍 I just have a question.if the section we're it shows the registered owner .if it has a company named only does that mean the signatures are just the company name
it would be the company that signs the car off to you
If you have a trailer for sale and you have the clean pink slip how do you report odometer reading. I would assume it would be blank or zeros. Thank you for all of your input.
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you for explaining
ok so, couple q's.. 1) I have a 98 buick that reads 999k on the odometer reading.. but can that be exempt, since its over 10 years old?2) I bought it in march. can I still transfer it?
just curious, is there an issue if the release of liability dollar amount does not match what the buyer puts on the pink slip?
This might be a dumb question but when you sign is it in print or handwriting?
What if the seller of a 1979 motorcycle didn’t put the Odometer reading on it, and only signed the top 1a line and the last line, the lien holder line?
Good Job Man thanks
Husam Haddad thanks for the feedback 👌
Thank you man.
you are welcome
Very helpful to review again. Done one last year and forgot the process already. Thx
Thank you!

What about the back side of the title? There’s a bunch of stuff that i’m not sure if it needs to be filled out as well...
Thank you ! 😊
What if the seller doesnt have the top white part of the pink slip on the back where I put my info
Very informative
glad it could of help to you
For the white part, "release of liability" can you do that online instead of ripping that white part and taking it to DMV?
Hey! I have a question. I am trying to sell my car, but the signature of the previous owner is on the title and not mine and I don't know what to do. Their signature is even on line 1a and even under the section where it says transfer or seller signature and for the printed name. Any advice on what to do so that the next owner can just sign and take the car? Thank you!
Thank you🤘🏽🤝😄
you are very welcome.
Thank you 😊
What if the owner bought a used car from a dealer. The finance company’s signature is on line 1A with the date. Now when the new owner sells the car to me years later. Where will he sign now since there isn’t anywhere for the seller to put his name. Could you make a video explaining that. Most porpoise are financing their cars.
what happens if or can u write a different sale price on the top white portion and the back of the pink slip?
Thank you I was just selling my car and I saw your video
great to hear, I hope it made the process easy for you. thanks for watching 👌
Thank you I just sold my car 😁
@@mayrarodriguezvazquez3399 perfect 👌👌
What if the blank part has my name typed? I would have assumed this was blank since I own the vehicle outright. Do I still need to sign since my name is listed there?
Have a question what if they dont sign the box below where they put the miles they just sign the release of interest box. Can i still take the tittle to the dmv or they have to sign it
Bro you are the bomb. Thanks for doing this vid. CA DMV is so damn confusing. I am gifting a motorcycle to a friend does that change things? If so I will put sale price at $1.
For the sale price just right “gift”. Will be cheaper for your friend when transferring under his name
Even if you donating to charity will you fill out the release of liability ?? Thanks
How to I get the proof of registration? I already transferred the title and paid all the DMV fees and got the new pink slip in the mail, but not the proof of registration
Thank you sir (again ... lol)
So nothing on the back has to be filled out beside the slip I keep and turn in?
Thank you for the inf.
you are welcome
glad it helped you out
just a quick question,
for a Gift car what is the right amount to fill in on the top side (white paper seller side ) on G. box it say selling price (NO CENT) do
i need to write GIFT ?
thanks for reaching out. just write gift in the box. you will need to fill out a statement of facts briefly through dmv or aaa if you have them when gifted a vehicle👌
My pink slip is blank on the left hand side in the corner but they still put their signature in the bottom right. what does this mean?
Great info! I am from Montana and driving a rental car to Idaho to buy a truck from a private seller. How do I go about the title transfer? Do I have the seller go with me to the DMV? Also, will they give me temp plates to drive the truck back to Montana or can I drive without plate with proof of bill of sale. Also, we do not have sales tax in Montana.. will I have to pay Idaho taxes if I'm buying from a private seller? Any information greatly appreciated! There aren't any videos on this from private seller..
it would be best if you could go with the seller to the dmv together. this way you can get everything taken care of right then and there. this is my advice 👌
@@DaylyDriverDayly I would do that, but I am not registering the vehicle in Idaho, I am buying it in Idaho but registering it in Montana. So I dont think that will work? Thank you for replying
Hey bro I recently seen your video I recently bought a car and I kept the bottom portion is that correct and I mailed it out to the dmv
perfect! as long as you filled it out properly you are good to go👌
Thank you sir
you are welcome. thanks for tuning in
I have a question ❓ I live in the state of California and I added my son's name to my vehicle now I'm gifting this vehicle to my daughter out of state and my question is that when I just did the release of liability and title there was only enough space for one name ! Does my son need to do other one with his name also for this vehicle?
What if I already signed the bottom right because i watched your last video like 2 min ago. I have no lienholder I own. Do I cross it out and Initial?
not a problem at all. your signature there wont affect anything
thank you!
You are welcome 👌👌
Easy peasy Japanesy! Thanks.
The seller for my car signed everything except for the cut off white part is this a problem
Will the title transfer go through if either buyer or seller doesn't turn in their half of the title
Hey what does it mean when the pink slip says not actual mileage ?? Should I be worried ?
What if it’s a trailer? How do you do the odometer?
Short and sweet
Matdogg2k just getting straight to the point
Thanks Dude
Thank you
Is it okay if you accidentally signed the lower part of the pink slip next to the blank box? Even if you no company countersigned
ya its not a problem. you are good 👌
Ok my friend sold me a Honda civic and sent the upper part of the pink slip for the name transfer to the dmv. I no longer want the car and I want to resell it in hopes to get my money back. The title Is filled up with my friends name and mine. Can I sell it as is with the same pink slip or do I have to go to the dmv so they send me a blank one??
Can you mail in the seller-white part to the DMV?
If I want to buy a car from somebody in California who purchased the car but it selling it right away and their name isn’t on title can I still fill out the info and reg it?
Thank you brother .....now ive got some idea...how to fill up the forms....cause i dont know how.....im gonna plan to sell my car. For lower price.....oh i forgot something...about my odometer was wipe out...because of my car is completly shut down! And a battery too is dead.....how im going to write it down the milleage there???
No problem. I'm glad to help out. if your digital dash is out and you cant see the mileage, I would suggest guestimating how many miles you believe to be on the car based on the last you remember the mileage to be. you will need to check the box that states not exact mileage. let me know if you have any further questions for me 👌😁
Daily Driver if im going to guest....? But im not accurate! But still remain in my memory 165,000 ....the last i remembered....but if im not accurate,,'' the buyer they wont say that im defrauding right???
@@jamesark9926 I wouldnt think so. you can even check the carfax on the vehicle to see the last reported mileage on the vehicle and the date it was reported👌
Do I need to bring the seller with me to the DMV if we are trying to transfer it as a gift?
Depends on the state, just called the DMV in colorado and asked the same thing. I just needed their signature on the pink slip and bring it to the dmv. First you need to get the Vin # verified and emissions test if your state requires it. Most emission testers do vin verification. mine was $30 for emissions and $20 to verify my vin but check w/shop first. In CO it was $10 to register the title so like $70 total. + you may be taxed depending on your state's laws on gifted vehicles - in colorado we're exempt if it's from an immediate family member. So, we put "Gift" in selling price to family
No they just need to sign it and say you paid a dollar for it as a gift the need to see some sort of money transaction there's nothing free in the world they will pick on you if you say you got it for free say you bought it for a 1$ that's what I did for my first car with my brother in law and if you say you paid 1500$ for it they will make you pay a fee
Hey, what to do if I moved out of state and sold the car but didnt tell the dmv (for section H). Would the sale still go through with the new out of state address?
all you need to do is file the release of liability online. it's simple and straightforward in t forward. go to the dmv website and search release of liability. file it there and it will clear the vehicle out of your name. takes about a minute to do
What should I do if the previous owner forgot to sign one of the x blank? I can’t find the owner because I don’t his number or social e
Can I sell a car if it has tickets or behind on registration? If the buyer agrees to pay for it upon purchasing vehicle ?
Good job
thank you. I appreciate your feedback 👍👌😁
Thanks dude, I am waiting for my title to come to the mail.
what about transferring a vehicle to a brother or sister? Will giving it as a gift reduce the DMV fees or nothing changes?
Joe Biden's Shotgun absolutely. If you fill out that you are doing a family transfer on the title, whoever you are giving or selling the car to won't have to pay any taxes on the vehicle👌
the daily driver Thanks! I just received the title and I am basically giving it to my brother as a farewell gift for him leaving to college. Off to the DMV next week.
How about the back part ?? Does that part get filled out ??
the seller needs to turn in the white part of the paper?
So you pretty much don’t need a signature or license number from the buyer ?
Who signs line 2 if there's a name on it? Buyer or seller?
how do you mail it in?
Thanks! Going to sell my car right now...oh wait, getting a SMOG check first ;)
Hope the transaction went smooth and that the video made it easier for you
if husband and wife are both listed as registered do both need to sign?
I just noticed my wife’s name is in the Leon holder box.. so I need her signature to release that part of the pink slip? Why would her name be in that box?? Thanks
