  • Getting straight to the point of how to fill out a pink slip when buying or selling a car. It is very important to fill out the information properly so that there are no problems when you go to turn the title in to your nearest AAA or DMV or when you mail it in. Though it is easy to do, not everyone has bought or sold a car before so I want to make sure that you know what to do when the time comes. Maybe you just need a refresher if it has been a while since you last bought or sold a vehicle, well here you go and don't miss a step or you are going to create an unnecessary headache for yourself.
    If you are selling the car there needs to be a total of 3 signatures and dates on the pink part of the title and 1 signature on the white part of the title (top portion that you turn in as a seller). As for the buyer, they need to have 1 signature and date on the pink part of the title where it asks for the buyers signature and they need to input their information (name and address information) on the white part of the title. If any of this information is not properly filled out it will not be accepted by the dmv.

Went early before work, when it was my turn to say why I was there, I showed them the pink slip, but I didn't know it needed to be signed, she said it needs to be signed and told me to have a good day. • @warmandscratchy
      @warmandscratchy Před 5 lety +1

      Depends on the state, just called the DMV in colorado and asked the same thing. I just needed their signature on the pink slip and bring it to the dmv. First you need to get the Vin # verified and emissions test if your state requires it. Most emission testers do vin verification. mine was $30 for emissions and $20 to verify my vin but check w/shop first. In CO it was $10 to register the title so like $70 total. + you may be taxed depending on your state's laws on gifted vehicles - in colorado we're exempt if it's from an immediate family member. So, we put "Gift" in selling price to family

    I just noticed my wife’s name is in the Leon holder box.. so I need her signature to release that part of the pink slip? Why would her name be in that box?? Thanks
