      @@DriveNorth We have a Forest River Geo Pro 17PR. We pull it with our 2016 Kia Sorento. We've had it for about a year and a half and we've only used it about 4 or 5 times. Great video, thanks for all of the info! We wanted to buy one to live in for a short time and then rent it through Airbnb. We’ll have to do it that way because it will be older and like you inferred, can’t compete on outdoorsy but because it will be on the Rio Grande River we think fishermen will rent it or people checking out the valley. That of course will be well thought out i.e. fish cleaning station OUTSIDE, a dedicated freezer or refrigerator just for fish, etc. Thanks again!

    This is an awesome video and the doggie is super cute! As an army vet and afterwards I've towed tons of trailers and even drove 18 wheelers so I have no fear of towing. How do you deal with folks towing that may not have experience doing so? Do you explain how to have a ground guide for backing (or require one)? Also do you provide any sway bars or have everyone tow "naked". Do you have people look at the tag in their vehicle to get the GVWR to evaluate if they can tow your RV? Thanks for answering!

    This was the best video I've seen on renting out your RV, thank you! Question: the only thing I'm worrying about is I work until 2pm on Sundays so the drop off time can be an issue for me. Would I be able to have the person drop the vehicle off and later I can inspect it myself or does it have to be done together?

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  Před rokem

      Great question. We've run into that problem also. In rare cases we will have people drop off when we are not there. We encourage them to do their own walk around video before they leave to document the condition. Then you can do your own inspection when you get back home.

      The insurance is provided by Outdoorsy. I am contemplating buying a Class B and I actually rented one last year and really liked it. One question I have is the insurance, I know Outdoorsy provides insurance, but I assume you also have your own insurance on it as well? Like if you are using it yourself then it needs to be insured. What insurance company does Outdoorsy and Rvshare use? I am trying to do as much research before pulling any trigger on buying. I am thinking of a used one to start out.

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  Před 2 lety

      We do carry our own insurance policy. Outdoorsy uses Roamly and they now offer polices for RV owners too. They have no problem with owners renting out their RVs and your premium actually goes down the more it's rented out as you pay for only the days it's not rented. • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  Před 3 lety +1

      Good question. I address this a little in our latest June update video. We have a window of time before we give Outdoorsy or RV Share the ok to release their security deposit. If they brought the tanks back full, we can deduct a fee out of that. We charged $30 for dumping and $40 for cleaning.

    Thanks for your hard work on the video. Is there such a thing as putting your travel trailer somewhere like a campground and letting them rent it out without having the renter hook it up, drive it. So you reduce the risk that comes with them hauling it. Does that make sense

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  Před 3 lety

      No we do not have commercial insurance. It's something we've thought about though. We did have one insurance claim through RV Share and it went ok. I called our personal insurance company to verify that we are doing is ok. They gave us the thumbs up. And I've never heard of a finance company making a deal of someone renting. I think as long as they are getting their monthly installments, they are happy.

      That's a great question. So far we have not had serious repairs that required us to pull out unit off the market. We did have some renters do some cosmetic damage recently. We are going to wait until the end of the season to get it all fixed up. I suppose if something functional got damaged, you would have to cancel future rentals until it was fixed.

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  Před 3 lety +1

      Great question. If you notice damage, you call Outdoors/RV share and put a hold on their security deposit. That gives you time to research how much a part is, get an estimate at a shop etc. The cost of the repair can come out of their deposit or an insurance claim can be made if it is significant. We just had this happen and plan on doing a video on this soon.
