- In this video we will be looking into one of my favorite Aquarium Plants Cryptocoryne Usteriana. I had a few years with this one in the past, and it took a long time to find some replacement!

Good work man!
Super cool plant. I love crypts because they grow in my cold water tanks and tropical tanks. Great content on preservation and how to be mindful of our plant sourcing.
Always check the source! I think that's just good advice in all aspects of life!
I love these very detailed plant profiles, super awesome! :D
I had C. usteriana a while ago from a fellow hobbyist, It's a lovely big beatiful Crypt. My experience with it is that in about a year it took over an entire 20 long. I went from 3 mature plants to something like 10 or 15 over that year. It also threw up spathes for me on a couple occasions. The person I got it from recommended I keep it in a pot to control the runners and honestly I don't disagree.
These spotlight videos are awesome for someone new to the plant hobby like myself! Great detailed information!
Thanks Mike! Hopefully they help!
I just watched this video on cryptocoryne useriana, I enjoyed it very much! Thank you!
More videos like this please, brilliant 👍
What are your requests?
Corvus Oscen Cyperus helferi, it’s one of the only plants I struggle with.
As I’ve mentioned before, love these plant profiles Joel.🤘
I'm trying to get as many done as I can!
Corvus Oscen , brilliant mate.
I’ve got it bad for collecting anubias, bucephandra & moss. Cryptocoryne varieties get me excited too but I’m running out of room.
Not enough room is always an issue!
I need to try this plant again.
Your a cool dude Joel. I don’t get into plants that much but you make it fun and have me peaking interest
Thanks! I'm just a regular dude though! 😜
I really like this kind of videos.
Love the plant spotlight vids! Unrelated but I can say Im getting ads even with member status on my phone. Thanks Joel!
I dunno man. These machines are nuts.
I never get ads maybe because I on premium?
Very good and precise spotlight, and, the pronunciation was as good. Congrats
Thanks Luca!
Thanks for another great video, i do feel like I learn a lot from these plant species spotlights really appreciate it :)
Great series Joel!
Thanks Lisa! What plant would you like to see next?
@@CorvusOscen I'd be interested in learning about Rotala sp. H'Ra. I have some on order. I'm hoping it grows as well for me as R. rotundifolia.
Wow Thanks for the vid Mr Oscen!
Thank you for watching avery!
All Crypts are super easy. I am lov'n this plant because it is so darn easy. And man do they replicate!
Thank you for information on plants. I'm new to aquarium plants got some from Cory.
Thanks for sharing the details 👍🌿🌿
Thanks for checking in!
I loved the video brother, great job dropping knowledge and teaching.
Doing what I can!
@Corvus Oscen I have a question, I have 2 planted tanks, one gets very little algae, phosphate is 5 ppm, the other has tons of algae on plants, and it is almost 0 ppm, how does that happen?
So I just got this plant. They’re only 3 inches tall and already sending out runners! How is that even possible?! My undulatus reds took over a year to mature and then began to send out runners. 🤷🏽♀️
Nice species spotlight 👍
👍🎶👌
The bots demand attention with likes and subscribes and shares. They are such attention seeking little minions and hateful little drama divas if you ignore them.😂
Seriously...that is a very cool crypt...and a Saturday evening surprise chillaxin' vid. Love it!
💕👍💕
I know shelby, we live in a time where computers robots technologies are in charge. I might move to the darkest part of the woods someday...
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
I like this type of video. Thanks for sharing info about this plant.
Also, I’m wondering if you are going to do outdoor gardening videos again this year ?
Great & informative video, thanks. Is it possible for this plant to go through cycles of healthy growth, followed by melting off again, for several months before the plant eventually settles and grows healthily. Mine has been going through these cycles for about 4 months now and it's becoming a bit frustrating. According to my test results the aquarium environment has remained stable with no fluctuations and all other crypts (Crispatula, Becketti) are doing well. Lighting is medium strength Arcadia LED, temp 79 fahrenheit, Ph 7, Nitrates 20ppm, and weekly dose of complete fertiliser following 30% water change. There's no CO2 injection and substrate is plain gravel that isn't vacuumed around the base of the rooted plants. I'd have thought my Usteriana would have fully acclimatised to my tank after 3-4 months. Do you think it's still adapting/settling in .....?
Did you mention that they can flower in the tank as well.
Used your link to place my first order @ Aquarium coop, hopefully it worked correctly :) Keep up the awesome vids
If it was just now, well, looks like a no. No worries though! Appreciate ya either way! 👍
@@CorvusOscen Was about 3 hours ago, so hopefully it will have worked, if not I am gonna have to jump on that patreon because you make awesome content.
Doesn't look like it on my end. No worries though! Appreciate ya! 😁
Very helpful, got this plant recently from Tropica 🤓
Awesome!
Great video. Tons of useful info!
Thanks for tuning in!
Keep up with Crypt species please! I would also like to see a video dedicated to your Alternathera reineckii. Finally I 'd love to see an update to crypt nurii!

2nd! Mr Cory😃
Are you suuuuuure?
everyone over 30 still thinks about the year 2000 as being just a few years ago, i love it
I'm 900 years old.
your beard is badass dude
Thanks Francisco!
been getting green and red form at Aqua serene recently!
Nice! I think tropica is propagating it now?
Do you have any info on flamingo crypts?
Sure!
So what is mine potentially if it doesn't get much beyond 24"?
I started from a tissue culture, it claimed to be usteriana and maybe the leaf portion itself caps out around 24" but the stem is another 12"+ after 18 months, but otherwise it looks exactly like yours with the red bottoms. I sell GIANT bags of it at my local aquatic plant association. Should I just "trim" it like the people shipping it out and let it grow back? I actually find it is spreading okay, I've got extras just sitting in other tanks because there's only so many people with huge tanks and ponds in my local club. I've actually never seen much algae on it and the light in the tank is rather high... though some other plants definitely have developed algae in there at times.
You likely are just growing it perfectly! There are a few variants within tbt species, that are larger and smaller. Mainly accomplished through selection processing.
Nice!👍😁
No, you're nice!
What, you have an affiliate sponsor?! Ya don't say. Who might that be Joel? Lol
Whaaaaaat!? Really?! Seriously! Ha ha h'ra! 🤪
Good info! Second!
Second?
Use your gloves, man!
