Stumbled Into This Gem! Gifford Pinchot State Park

Nestled in the central Pennsylvania foothills, Gifford Pinchot State Park is a hidden pleasure. Close to Gettysburg, the state capital Harrisburg and Hershey, the park is a perfect place to be as active or quiet as you like. Although full while visiting, the park did not feel overrun even in day use areas. It was very clean, scenic and enjoyable. There are several park entrances, so if you go to camp, be sure to check directions to the southwest corner.

I lived within 2 to 3 miles of Pinchot all my life. It's a very beautiful park. The state cut funding for our State Parks for several years and it got a little run down but it's getting back to what it use to be. I spent a lot of weekends and weeks camping and canoeing there.
