- Join Shawn and Charlotte as they spend the day at Alton Towers for the annual Halloween Scarefest event! This year the event has had many new additions including Altontonville Mine Tours, a scare maze located inside the towers ruins all about the legend of the Skin Snatchers! Freak Show is a brand new carnival themed scare zone located between Spinball Whizzer and The Smiler, throughout this vlog we check out this awesome new addition to Scarefest!
For the first time ever, Alton Towers have launched a family scare attraction located in the Cloud Cuckoo Land themed area of the park. House Of Monsters is an actor led tour through a haunted mansion, where visitors have to complete numerous challenges to escape!
Along with talking about the new attractions, we also experience classics such as Terror Of The Towers, Sub Species: The End Games and Dark Apocalypse! Plus we ride our favourite Alton Towers attractions in the dark, check out the new lighting for Scarefest and much more!

what i love about you guys is that you see and enjoy all the aesthetics but the other people just walk by not appreciating what a great job alton towers have done to make the park more enjoyable, also i like how you engage the audience at home making them feel like they are at the park with you. I also like how you acknowledge the rules and dont do stupid things. Im a big fan, keep up the good work and here's to scarefest 2017!
P.S i might be going to alton towers next year for scarefest so hopefully i can meet you guys there.

OMG thirteen amazing 😩♥️ I loved it specially the part where u drop in the cave bit ( dark forest ) ~ sadly the 2nd time I went on it ... it broke down but it wasn't bad at all coz I loved it that much I went on it after it broke down again 👌🏻😁

I was there both days too. They weren't expecting it on the Friday which is why they didn't put any special measures in place until it was too late. They put the special measures in place on Saturday though just in case but none ever turned up. They had already been to Scarefest twice this year (more than normal because of the new Scarefest dates) which is why they weren't expecting them to come again. They definitely normally go on the first Sunday of Scarefest and sometime around Easter I think. They came so close to ruining my day tbh
I had a chat with Shawn shortly after I vlogbombed, and we both commented on how annoying they are xD

House of Monsters was definitely an amazing experience and my favourite thing about this year's Scarefest. Event as a whole was good.

Shaun you are right the roller coaster resturant is amazing I went in the early days of it and it was great but we usually take a picnic but my dad and I really wanted to eat there we weren't sure if we could get a table because we couldn't book a table but we got a table within ten minutes and was very impressed with how quickly the food came and it was delicious anyone who is planning to go to the roller coaster resturant make sure you take a plan b wheather it be a picnic or go to another resturant

My first ever visit to Alton was in March and now my first Scarefest visit was yesterday - it's really cool. Tiring as hell when you've been there all day but I did get to try Galactica without VR which is a strange sensation. Would have liked to see more theming else where - Dark Forest especially

Personally I prefer The Swarm now however Nemesis is my close number 2 in the UK!
Not a big fan of wing coasters myself. They look good off ride but lack the intensity for me. Crazy that a coaster that is 22 years old is still right up there though. JW is a genius.

9:57 Indeed, few years after The Smiler opened, they added a new train to increase capacity of the ride. They didn’t fix the smoothness of the trains though because when it’s a new train, it rides very smooth but few months or years past it gets rougher and rougher as the wheels wear out over time and that’s common with every coaster build around the world. Alton Towers and Gerstlauer didn’t do any work on the trains, it purely because its a new train.

We got back from our first ever Scarefest visit yesterday. We were really impressed! We couldn't get much done as my daughter has a broken leg, but the atmosphere on park was really good. Freak show was really fun!! Hopefully we'll be back next year.

Really hope Thorpe park gets something like sub species. Feel bad for charlotte being left on her own in the dark. That happened to me in cabin on Monday, was very scared as that was my 8th ever time in a scare maze. For the rest of it I was on my own!

I wish Alton Towers would extend their park close until about 6 or 7 in the main season. It's a shame seeing a park this large closing at ridiculously early times like 5 and half 4
I went on the mind tours at night and something happened while we were queing in the tunnel so we had to sit in pitch black for an hour 😂

I used to live in Derby, and Alton towers was like another home, because was very close and I would go all the time, but I moved to bath city, and now only go at scarefest and... I'm going on Saturday next week :D

Freak show doesn't look scary though, it just seems a bit camp, a bit silly, I'd rather actually have a walk through scare zone than queue, but the content of zombies scare zone was much better because it had the actual thrill and fear factor. Freak show isn't really a scare zone to me, as I wouldn't be scared at all, it's a themed zone really.
How do you think scarefest compares to like HHN Orlando?
The mazes are much more intense here in the UK, however the theming in HNN is better

I am only twelve, and I went to scare fest on the 9th, 23rd and 24th. I did House Of Monsters once a day and a Terror of The Towers once a day as well with my friend. When we went into ToT on the 9th, when they took our photo, someone was underneath the bench and grabbed our legs! When we went in it on the 23rd and 24th that didn't happen. Was it supposed to happen or did they decide not to have it for 21st - 31st of October?

U went on nemesis when u were 9... I was petrified to go on Vampire when I was 9 I didn't even go on Dragons Fury Because I was so scared :( and my first that ride I went on that goes upside down was Rameses Revenge and then I went to Thorpe Park this year when I was 11.
