Why do you need to mark where the lowest point is if you take 12 mm off the full bottom off the door anyway?

What id you dont have a circular saw and dont habe a garden or anything? Lol will a door plane work just slower? Only need to knock down 1cm

Most hinges in the UK don't have loose pins, it was probably habit
