They upgraded the metal frame pistols? Shadow 2 compact is the only one I can think of, and that's a new model, not an upgrade. I'd be more surprised to see metal framed cz pistols upgraded as those are the classics like the 75b and sp01.
CZ has never gone away, if you know anything about competition shooting, you will know how popular the CZ shadow 2 is in the carry optics division in USPSA, IPSC, PCSL, etc. The shadow 2 has been domination the competition seen. Probably one reason they don't market to regular people, cause I am sure they make so much money in the competition world.
Good to see CZ still focusing on their hammer guns.💪

This is a redundant buy if you already have the P07/P09 imo. I may get it just because I sold my P07 for a pistol that I decided not to get🤦🏾♂️
Two CZs in our household. P-07 and P-10S. Fit and finish is genuinely flawless. Yes springs are tight including the magazines but both are a dream to shoot and are dead nuts accurate. 👍👍😎🇺🇸
they really do make some of the finest pistols. P-01, S2, and P-10c in my house
How does the P-07 work as an EDC? Im looking to purchase it but want something with a slim profile.
@@CharismaticBarbarian It belongs to one of my sons. His edc is Glock 43x. The P07 is a bit larger and about 8 ounces heavier. Since we live in anti 2A Connecticut the magazine capacity is restricted to 10 rounds so there is no benefit to a larger carry.

@@CharismaticBarbarian you’re welcome. I do have the P10s in my edc rotation. It is very close to the 43x in size but is about 6 oz heavier. Add another ounce with an optic and plate since it is cut for one. But 43x is kind of my favorite carry in light clothing. Love it. Will not be sorry with choosing it.
Great review Dan! I'm a CZ fan boy and I loved it. I can attest to the no need for break in needed for the P-09. When I was still working I had a company shooting day. I brought some awful Winchester USA Forge ammo. My co-worker had a brand new never fired P-09 and I had my 75b and they worked flawlessly. My two co-workers with Kimbers had jams galore.
Put competition at the end of that sentence that says company shooting. Some people may think the wrong thing lol

If the screws holding the plate are locktited, try heating the screw heads with a soldering iron to soften the thread locker

A secret use for a popcorn air-popping machine! Very good gradual heat gun; also perfect for shrink film winter window insulation (hair dryers make melting hot spots if gotten too close)...........................elsullo
Oh, they are and they used red loctite on mine! I had to use a T20 on a ratchet. Put a 507k on it and it is sweet. The cowitness is very nice and the red dot sits low and perfect on the frame. Sights are very nice. All for around 5 bills, this is a no brainer.

My p07 is a few years old and came with the dummy round for dry fire
P07 will always be a classic imo. Its such a beautiful pistol. They added the serrations up front to this one but aesthetically the old slide was perfection imo

Another great pistol from CZ. That price point is really competitive too. Can't wait to see the range video with the dot.
I picked up the P-09c Nocturne last Saturday. Put a cool 500 rounds through it. Pretty nice. I’m checking with Mcarbo to see if their P-07/09 spring kit is going to work with the new Nocturne. Very easy gun to shoot. You will enjoy it. Finally, another Tuber I actually like, reviewing the Nocturne.
All the parts are interchangeable with the older models
As DTWCT said, the internals are all the same as the last iteration so everything will still work.
Cajun Gun Works has the entire upgrade spring kit.
I just had my P07's slide cut for an optic by Cajun Gun Works and CZ comes out with the P09C Nocturne. While the timing wasn't great for me, I'm just happy they updated an already fantastic pistol.
Looks bigger than the p07. P09 is definitely bigger. Now you have a custom p07. 🔥🔥

Why CZ no make "micro" DA/SA? That's what we all want
The fact that they streamlined the naming structure here could be a clue that it’s coming. Instead of having to come up with a new name for a micro, the could potentially release a “p09m” (and p09s) similar to the p10 lineup. Hopefully if that’s the case the p09m will be better than the current p10m lol.

Because CZ must’ve wanted to emulate GLOCK by making the EXACT SAME GUN but with a different number to get the masses to run to buy it like they’re getting something special. These companies see this technique works wonders for APPLE and their IPHONES so why not try it with FIREARMS 💯💯
I will be getting both for sure. I had a P09 and liked it but wanted an optic model. I am glad to see CZ step up their game. Most manufacturers offer up optic ready guns at extra cost. For example, Glock just make them all optic ready split the cost in half and give us what we want. They would actually save them selves money in the long run and sell more guns. YES! You're the first I've seen breakdown the pistol. I was hoping they extended the dust cover on the slide like they did with the P10F and sure enough they did. These 09F slides will be able to go on the C frames.
I have the previous gen P07 and p09, those slides are also swappable and functional with the swapped slides. Ive shot the 09 slide on the 07 frame probably 100 rounds just for fun

Thank you for the update . A CZ is in my very near future , I haven't decided which one yet . . My last 3 purchases were revolvers ( 357 ) . So, back to the pistol , with a dot . The good ol' days are now .

Seeing all these new age guns with front serrations makes me feel like a disgusted Clint Eastwood 😂 I’m not even 40 yet
When you buy one CZ another always follows afterwards they are that good. Rack the slide and dry fire on an ear plug 1000x to smooth it out and it will be like a sewing machine in how it runs. The one update adds more tools to the box and makes this thing an all around A+ exceptional buy for self defense.
If only it had tritium sights instead of luminescent. Yes, you can buy them. It would just be nice if they came standard.

The screws on the plate cover are tightened to 50”lbs. which was very tough when using the tool in the box. I had to get out my torq wrench driver. Again found myself having to adjust it all the way to 50”lbs to remove the cover plate screws. It also look like Cz applied red lockitite on the screw threads when I got it off. However when installing your optic you only need 15”lbs. torq if you’re going with the Holosun optic. So to anyone buying this gun I advise getting a torq driver ahead of time if you don’t already have one. Or good luck getting the cover plate screws off.
I recommend not using a torque wrench for the removal of fasteners. If something needs more power and leverage to remove, use a breaker bar. Torque wrenches are calibrated tools, so they should only be used for the final tightening of fasteners to a torque specification. Final thought, when done using your torque wrench, turn it down to its lowest setting for storage. Leaving it at higher values can mess up the calibration over time.
@@brianw3415 the post is only to give reference to those who bought the gun on how tight the screws are (50” lbs.) what anyone chose to use as a tool I can care less. Most people just want to know what it takes to get that cover plate off when they realize how tight the plate is on the gun.
Going with the defender on P09c as well! I ran it on my 43x and I enjoyed it just as much as HOLOSUN. Only complaint is, if carrying, the sharp edges of the defender tend to dig into skin.
I'm glad you featured the pistol first instead of the usual box, instructions etc....

The P-10 C OR I bought in March came with the same dummy round. Nice touch, but since they probably cost $0.02 each they should have thrown in a few more for cycling fun.
I'm probably going to buy the Nocturne. I just can't get used to the trigger on the P10C but it would be nice to have something a little lighter than the CZ 75 compact that I currently carry the most. Yes, I'm a CZ fanboy. I ain't even ashamed.

Love my Phantom. Cajonized the trigger and put Dawson Precision sights on it. It is my favorite full size carry gun.

The screws have a pile of Red Threadlocker. I used a T Torx T15 wrench ai had to put some elbow grease on it

You're feeding my CZ addiction again! Especially one I already have 6 magazines for. It pays having the same FFL for 40 years. I can get one for 30 over cost.
Oh man, I got nervous when I heard about CZ not having much presence at recent gun conventions & downsizing some of their product line. But it seems like maybe they’re doing some restructuring for efficiency sake (hopefully).
I’ve always wanted a P-07 but never took the plunge, so I’d be VERY interested in checking out the P-09C Nocturn. Looks like beauty & I love the modernization of the platform with optic readiness, better stippling, etc. This is exciting stuff from CZ 👍

Just got mine yesterday. The bumps on the case are super unfortunate. Harder to stack.
Looks good. I am still waiting for a warranty replacement part for my original P-09. The part has been on backorder for nearly 4yrs. I hope their customer service is getting better. 4yrs wait for a warranty part is very poor.
Glad to see CZ is updating the P07 and P09 line. I still think CZ should bring out a new high end polymer hammer fired pistol that's based on the the Shadow 2 that would replace the Phantom as the SP01's are by far superior with being suppressed over the P07, P09 and P10 series of pistols.
Use the corner of the mag to push the slide stop pin out.
They include the dummy round now for dry fire, empty chamber dry fire will destroy you firing pin and roll pin.
The only real improvements are the cut and the slide release, other than that, the improvements aren't all that different. The stippling and the white sights were always great. I find targeting in the dark is not a problem.
I really believe the only problems with the P-07/P-09 were the people who never fired them, but designated them as subpar. Go figure!
I definitely would want the metal frame. That’s a big selling point for me with CZ. I want to find that SP-01 in Urban Grey that they discontinued. Also wanna get that CZ Shadow II Compact
I had an original PO9. It was a wonderful pistol. Always kicked myself for not getting the smaller PO7. Traded the PO9 for an all steel 75 SPO1.

I really liked the first gen P07, pre 2014. It fit my hand really well
The omega trigger is not the superior trigger, it’s less tunable than the standard CZ 75 trigger, if you know most European pistol makers do not offer Trillium night sitghts, they’re very Squirrley in Europe about nuclear material and that’s what makes tritium night sitghts work

Good timing Dan, I literally just opened an email with the p09 c and was checking it out. Looks like another good choice. I've had my eye out for a da/sa optic cut carry pistol. Giving this some serious consideration.
The P09 is my favorite polymer pistol off all time and this is an excellent update that CZ did. The grip texture was very lacking on the original, so this new model looks to have solved that for sure.
Say slide stop 3 times in a row. Dithpicable . I would leave the thumb thafety off. Wonder how it compares to the shadow 2 compact that I just picked up.

I hate "enhanced grip texture". It rubs my skin when I carry a pistol IWB. I really don't need that stuff to hold onto a gun.
From what I’ve seen, this texture isn’t as aggressive as something like the p10 so maybe it won’t rub you as wrong.
That’s a nice gun.. 19 rounds is nice for sure.& like the texture and memory pad & all too. I don’t have any CZs yet. So don’t know a lot about them.When you do the shooting video,maybe take the one that you were comparing that one to & shoot side by side & give your opinion on what that feels like. The bore axis may have looked a little higher. Both are nice looking full sized guns. I don’t really like it when you have no option to get a non optic ready version of whatever pistol it may be. Will need to look on their website to see what they offer as far as that goes. Enjoy & stay cool Wolfman!

Very good pistol, I own the old model and I’m asking myself what’s really the upgrade: ok, it’s optic ready and minor mods on grip and levers but it has a P09, nothing different. Even the name « Nocturne » is quite particular and the reason showed by CZ is quite weak.
I sure hope those roll pins for the firing pin channel are much better..
is the front sight thicker than on the old models?
It'll be nice to have the P07 and P09 in 357 Sig, 40, and 10mm. It really doesn't make any sense to release a new product in 9mm only. I have plenty of 9 millimeters.

Trigger action is nicer on the shadow 2 Compact. This is approximately a grand cheaper

I had a P 09 with a very long mushy trigger… but my current P 07 has an outstanding factory trigger. Both were Omega triggers with the decocker installed. Not sure why they were so different??
Always thought they are slick, basic and functional. No actual negatives, but this seems pretty well refined. I can't imagine if glock upgraded or changed more than stipple job between generations, probably look like a mini hammerelli 😂❤ great review as always Dan, stay safe and much love
Ill keep my cz p09 original it only costed me 200 bucks
But will it take the 22lr conversion slide and mags, that's what I want to know before I upgrade my original original p09. Haven't found any info yet. Keep up the good work 👍
I would like to see you wear a glove as part of your tests to check if it would be good winter gun. I wanteed a P07 but this looks better.
After owning both P09 and P07 for 5 year those springs does not get easier to rack.

Hey Dan, are prior generation P09/P07 mags gonna be compatible with these? Obviously the cut out on the frame of the new models means that the newer mags won’t fit in older generations. I own a P07 currently and P10C which can use the same mags interchangeably (albeit a very slight difference in basepad lengths). Was just curious if it’s worth the new model if I can use my old mags. Great review and have fun at the range!!!
