The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond says that one of the two fractures in husband Ladd's neck was nearly catastrophic. She also shares that he drove himself to the hospital after last Wednesday's crash (March 10).
Previously, it was reported that Ladd Drummond was airlifted to the hospital, but in a post on the Pioneer Woman website, Ree says that he actually drove to the hospital, calling her on the way. The 57-year-old was stiff but walking, so he refused medical treatment at the scene, per his wife.
The couple's nephew, Caleb, was driving the other firetruck that was involved in a head-on collision, injuring both men.
"This was partly because he wanted the paramedics to focus on Caleb, partly because he was still a little stunned by the accident, and partly because cowboys don't like to admit when they're hurt," Ree says.

We are fans forever of Ladd as well as Ree. The combination on the show really makes her stand out more than just another boring cook show. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Take care...Kyle husband fell and broke his neck in 2 places...took him 5 days to finally seek medical attention. The good news is living in Canada he had excellent care and a great Neurosurgeon and after 4 rods and 12 screws....neck brace for 3 months he is Blessed to be walking...riding his Quad and fishing from the boat 💕
I experienced a similar accident with my husband a few years ago. A difficult situation and some time to recover. He still has some problems but he survived. I will say prayers for you and your family. Stay strong. Deb from Georgia.

Sending prayers to both families. When you watch her cooking shows, it makes you feel like you know them. Glad Caleb is doing okay. Ladd, let someone else ride those horses for awhile!! You need to take a break and let your neck heal. Dangerous bones to break.
Prayers to them both..a neck injury is serious you have to wear a brace for at least 8 weeks. So talking like you just walk around is not true you can't bend certain ways. You have to be very careful and sleeping with a brace on is horrible.
